Any of you guys have less-than-good results with a PC??? Ive installed straight-thru pipes and the FBF airbox top/filter. The bike seemed to run good without a PC. I installed the PC III usb and loaded the "mistral pipes, stucchi crossover" :rasta: map. The bike now pops and skips when not under acceleration. I'm taking the PC off. Any suggestions??? Similar experiences ?? I live on the coast at sea level if that has anything to do widit.... :rasta:

I have had very good results with the PCIII. With out the PCIII, both of my bike ran poorly (spitting, poping, stalling).

Go to the Guzzi Tech site and email Todd Eagan. He does alot with PCIII's and Guzzi's and he should be able to make a map for you. I think he can email you the map.

Good luck,

The Best thing to do is find a tuning station ( they list them on thier websiteI believe ) in your area and have a custom map made just for your bike. they dyno it under load for the full RPM range and download you a custom map!

Way COOL!!

I use a PC111 on my 02 lemans. When properly set up it works well for me. It seems to have improved my mileage by a couple of mpg. and the engine runs a lot smoother as well. I bought it to take care of detonation issues which it improved but did not cure. Experience being the best teacher, I have found that the remaining detonation concerns are related to cylinder head temperature as the detonation only occurs under load after sitting in traffic or being held to low speeds by traffic. it is not a problem ever when a good road speed is maintained. the map you get with a powercommander is a "general fit" map ( I think you can get ones for standard bikes and bikes with various mods) but these may not exactly suit your bike.

I took my bike to a local specialist who started with the map that came with the PC111 usb but fine tuned it for my bike to create a custom map. The guy there said some bikes seem to suit the standard maps but a lot need a tiny bit of fettling to get the best from them. I guess each bike is ever so slightly different, depending on exactly what mods have been made or even tolerences within the engine.

Either way they seem to have done a good job as the bike behaves very well with good power up to and beyond the redline. I'm very happy with it.

If there are no suitable tuning stations near you, Todd Eagan (as mentioned by Mike) is a very knowledgable & helpful chap who may have a more suitable map for you.

all the best

I have had some mixed results with the PC3.

Most likely any map off the web is not setup for your bike!

Look in the notes for your map. Note that the TPS setting in the notes section probably doesn't match your setting. If everything else was identical between your bike and the one the map was made on was identical, then this would be the area I would look.

Guzzitech typically measures this value with the linkage hooked up, and the key on.

However, assuming your bike is broken in and all other things are correct (including the TPS setting) a custom map is what you need from a Dynojet Tuning Link center, look for one that does Harleys, they have knowledge of the TPS and even have replacement TPS's cheaper than Guzzi.

Good luck,

I have heard of PC111's failing and causing the bike to run like crap as well. I have seen people with some very mixed results there is no athourised tuning centre anywhere feasibly near here (ie not within a 2700km radius and probally further). Most people that have had these had a lot trouble getting them to run right on popular bikes like Honda's and Suzuki's etc. They tried fiddling with the maps etc etc but had pretty mixed results. These guys turn over thier bikes fairly regualry when they turn over thier bikes they sold the unit with the bike or speratly. On the new bike they never bothered fitting one. To me for the money have a good look around for a bit more money you can get some high end fully programable racing computers that replace the ECU and are able to be reprogammed in all aspects rather than just fuel control and allow much finer fuel control than the powercommander. The other thing is for less money athough still somewhat in development stages you can get Cliff's MY16 Dunno not sold on Power commanders I think they are popular because they are convieniate rather than because they are a good thing.

I had excellent results, and really appreciated the "tunability" of the PCIII. But yes, having a "Certified Tuning Center" available for a custom map is certainly ideal for generating the best results.

However, someone like Todd Eagan at www.guzzitech.com can often get it "close" once one supplies him with the modifications to take into account.
