Cush Drive

Earlier Guzzi's didn't have a cush drive either (the Ambo/Eldo/850GT/T/series...T3

Drilling out the cush drive is a trick from the '70s to make it an even cushier drive. I doubt that it makes much difference one way or another on a light 'race' bike, but it might work ok for a sidecar or something.

Bear in mind that any hydrocarbon oil based grease is going to be bad for natural rubber cush drive blocks. If you want to lube the blocks, you would need to use something like Girling Red brake grease.

I take the point being made about the collar, but what is the clearance here? The cush drive is centred in the wheel by the bearings and spacers on a common wheel spindle, so there should be no need for a really tight fit.

Next time I change the tyre I may remove the cush and check this, but I am in no hurry, and to worry about the cush drive is extreme Guzzichondria!

Guzzichondria?  Maybe, but have you adjusted the phenstir rod?

It's only American spec bikes have those. Chuck it. They're a waste of time.

Enzo disconnected his and now the bike does 135mph, with a sofa attached too.
