Guzzist,

Had a blast back in Nov. at my track day with "Red Shift" at Laguna Seca.

Planning on going back again and a again!!! It was great having Racer X

there as one of the instructors to boot. The man is smoth as ice.

And a good friend.

Besides myself, I dragged fellow Guzzist gh67 aka Jay along on

his very nice and fast 2003 v11 and my buddy Jimmy on his TT600.

Good times were had and it was a real blast.

But it would have been even more fun and amazing if there were some

more Guzzi's out there with us (And no, we didn't have any problems

with "Seca" strick noise machine, even though I know my bike is way

over 92 DB's).

So, with that said, I'm personnly planning to due as many track days in 2006 as

humanly and finacially possible. I'll definitly be doing a couple more

Red-Shift events. Always lots to learn and there good people to be around.

Whether its on the track or after the track at the local beer hall, and they do a good job of keeping track-day hairiness at bay.

I'll also be looking into some of the other venues like: Track-Daze and Club Desmo

and The Willow Springs Club. I'd like to go to Button Willow a couple of

times and Vegas too.

I'd like to see a bunch more Guzzi's out there, and see if we can plan

or express interest in certain event to each other. So in the end, we can have a

nice Guzzi outing at some track days.

Not sure how to put all this together. But lets see if we can pull off

some nice Guzzi days at the track. Cause I love seeing and meeting

all you fellow Guzzi-heads and there's nothing fun'ner that blasting

around the open track on your Guzzi. Heck, we could even start a score

card for those guys who are capable of catch Ducks and fresh Sushi.

Kind of a"The Legends of the v11 forum 'Red Barron' thing."

If anyones interested, give me a shout/post.

And or give Todd E. a shout/heads up--- "That this is something we'd like

to see as part of our forum / Guzzi gang."

See ya all at the "Out Post" on New Years day.

I'd be up for a spin around Laguna Seca. Sears point or Thunderhill too. Probably have a little trouble making it to Willow springs. Need a little advance notice of dates and so forth. It'd be nice not being the only Guzzi rider on the track.

One of the local track day organizers did one down here in Lo-Cal So.Cal. back in Rocktober? November? [Maybe Nov.; I think it might have conflicted w/ the CMP West Coast Garand Games, iirc.] At any rate, it was open to all [of course: gotta make rent!] but if you came on a Duck or Goose you got a discount.

And that's about the only drawback to your idea that I can see: when even a group like LABikers [which probably has well over 100 actives+lurkers all here in So.Cal.] can't get enough people to commit to justify the cost of renting a track (+ paying the ambulance crew, track workers, blah blah blah), how do you expect to get ENUFF participation to get this whole project off the ground/breaking even when there's probably not even that many Guzzisti in all of CA? Exclusivity is working against us here...

Maybe a "Eurofest" track day, "no 'Murrican or Far Eastern brands need apply" would be the trick? I imagine between Triumph, Ducati, Aprilia, & Guzzi owners in the local region, you should be able to get plenty of participation to justify a low cost of entry. 'Cause frankly, for me, the cost of entry to a trackday (about $100 min. + gas, time, etc.) is (just) doable, but the time is more than my budget allows. Blokes with an SO who rides are in better shape, as its not so hard scraping up $200 for both of you to ride vs. $100 for yourself alone, 'cause if she's spending the day riding too then she can't go on about "how you have time for track days but never enough time to take me somewhere, do this do that, yakyakyakwhine..." ;-D

Best o' luck, hope I'll be able to make it out to a trackday someday soon!

I'll do it. I don't normally bring the Guzzi to the track, but it'd be fun to goof off with. Not big willow, the bike is too slow, but streets or Buttonwillow for sure. If I can bring the race bike and the wife it's all good...

Merry Christmas,

J-M,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to ya sooner... The Holidays & Family.

Absolutely, bring your wife & race bike. And of course the Guzzi

for a session or two. You'll fall behind on the long straight's but

be able two hang with most folks on all the twisty stuff. It really

buggs them and we get a little Guzzi respect.

100% with ya on Big Willow... To long and fast, but we still might enjoy

our selves. I'm looking towards hitting Seca a few more times and

really dreaming about Botton Willow... Very technical and twisty, great

for our v11's.

Here is just one of our many opptions:

A company that Racer X works with part time and just a great

gang of guys to hang with at the track, and out on the town.

There company is called "Ride Red Shift" and can be reached at

www.RideRedShift.com or give Donna a call at (805) 927 0400

I just got emailed part of this years schedule:

Infineon (Sears Point)--- Sat. Jan. 28th

Laguna Seca--- Mon. Feb. 13th

Laguna Seca--- Fri. Feb. 24th

Infineon (Sears Point)--- Fri. Apr. 14th

Button Willow--- Mon. Apr. 17th

Botton Willow--- Mon. Sept. 25th

I'm going to try and due one of the Seca days with them, just not sure

which date yet.... My wife and I are planning a big get away in Feb, so I'm

not nailed down on that one.

But I can say for sure Botton Willow in April, just dying to ride this one.

Plus there are many other clubs I start looking into for more dates and rides.

All most every thing pre-x-mas didn't have 2006 dates yet, but I'm sure there

logged in now.

Looking forward to goodtimes. Hit me or Racer X with any questions or days

you find as well.

When and where are these track days? I live near Vancouver but I would have to plan in advance to come to one.

Heli,

We (So.Cal.Guys) will keep our eyes open for some thing in Nor. Cal.

like Infineon (Ahhh... Sears Point) or Seca and give ya enough Heads-Up

time to help get'cha there with other Guzzi's.

There's two track days in Feb at Seca, one on Mon. 13th & the other on Fri 24th.

Not sure if or which Seca one I'm going to. I'm supposed to take the

wife and kids for a 4 week holiday in and around that time. Probly

I'll squeez in the 13th.

And there's a day at "Infinion" Sears Point on Fri. April 14th.

I'll keep ya posted and up to speed on event to come.

In the mean time, check out www.RideRedShift.com for more

of there events and/or call Donna at (805) 927 0400.

Hey Jedione,

I'm very interested in going to Laguna in February. What's the price for us fools and is there still room? Also, you'll have fun if Britt comes, she's a racer and instructor, and will probably bring her 125. It's always fun to watch people's reactions to her:

One of these days I'm gonna build an old cafe cx or something for her to flog around just to amaze people...

Please keep me posted on the trackdays.
