twhitaker
Back in '02 my trip meter locked up and I had the speedometer replaced under warrantee. This morning on the way to work I noticed the speedo had stopped working. I guess I now belong to the club of gear drive replacment. At 27,000 miles I figured I was going to be safe on that one. Clubs I've already joined: Speedometer - warrantee Shift pawl spring - warrantee Transmission leak - warrantee Steering damper Headlight bezel Tank suck Front engine case oil leak Ignition cam sensor oil leak Faulty oil pressure sender Leaking crankcase breather hose On the bright side, none of these faults have left me stranded and my dealer has been very, very good to me. orangeokie
I joined the speedo cable club at 1200 miles. Never did get around to a dealer for warranty work. Still doesn't work. I also joined the dead battery club and the failed relay club. Easy fixes. Other than that . . . knock on wood!
twhitaker
I also joined the dead battery club 94895[/snapback] My battery drained down to within an inch of its life the first time I found out the fork lock had a 'parking light feature'. Fortunately, I was able to bump start the bike. That was before I found out you can't do that.
Ouiji Veck
Odd.. Though I have an '02 Champagne I've got 20K mi an none of the classic gremlins...Including non flaking paint. Mine musta been built on a Wed....before lunch. (belive me, I keep a close eye on EVERYTHING..including my extra shift spring in my tasnk bag.) Only thing to go prematurely is the throttle cable. Changed the relays (Eds) early on. Went in and poked @ the spring...looked fine. The Sachs puked it's juice but I refilled it 15K mi ago and it's been fine. Sorry for your hard luck...it's such a great bike to ride.

twhitaker
Thanks for the reminder. I'm also a member of the bubbling paint club. I did not go for the exchange OR the trinkets.
