Song lyrics about motorcycles

Motorcyles and poetry do not a song make! I like it simple!

Pink Floyd (Syd Barrett's) "Bike".......at least the first verse!

"I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like, it's got a basket, a bell that rings, and things to make it look good, I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it...... sure, he "might" have been refering to a bicycle but it applies to a motorbike too!

the once splendid 1960's sex icon Brigitte Bardot (she has turned into a very sour extreme right-winger, and her beauty, both inside and outside, is definitively in the past)

Gainsbourg_bardot.jpg

Since when is an "animal rights activist" an extreme right-winger ???

She was born in 1934. It's not unusual for a person to lose a little beauty by the time they reach 72 !!!!!

Why the slam on Brigette ???

1. Motorcycle Man

If you see me flashing by

Do not stop me, do not try

'Cause I'm a motorcycle man

I get my kicks just when I can

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle man

I can beat your street machine

We're taking risks, that's what we mean

'Cause I'm a motorcycle man

We get our kicks just when we can

When we can

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle...

If you see me riding by

Do not stop me, do not try

'Cause I'm a motorcycle man

I get my kicks just when I can

When I can

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle, motorcycle

Motorcycle man

I can beat your street machine

I'm taking risks, that's what I mean

'Cause I'm a motorcycle man

We get our kicks just when we can

When we can

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle man

Motorcycle, motorcycle

oh, yes, she's an animal rights activist and that's ok.

But she is definitively not the person she was when she worked and was subliminated by Serge Gainsbourg, and has expressed definitive and very radical opinions about politics and religion I rather not get into on this fine forum.

She's been found guilty and condemned three times by courts for racism due to writings and declarations she made and is married to a guy belonging to the FN, a french extreme right movement. She has been on some TV shows and clearly called, and was condemned by courts, for racial hate a few times.

So, we're a long way from the innocent sexy looking blonde she was back in the sixties...

Too bad there's no 1st Amendment in France.

So she doesn't like muslim terrorists and is willing to write about it. :huh2:

It's no wonder France is being overrun.

I googled it last night, but I'm willing to let it go.

I'd rather talk motorcycles, anyway !!!

Turn the Page

Words and Music by Bob Seger

On a long and lonesome highway

East of Omaha

You can listen to the engine

moanin' out his one note song

You can think about the woman

or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wandering

the way they always do

When you're ridin' sixteen hours

and there's nothin' much to do

And you don't feel much like ridin',

you just wish the trip was through

Here I am

On the road again

There I am

Up on the stage

Here I go

Playin' star again

There I go

Turn the page

Well you walk into a restaurant,

strung out from the road

And you feel the eyes upon you

as you're shakin' off the cold

You pretend it doesn't bother you

but you just want to explode

Most times you can't hear 'em talk,

other times you can

All the same old cliches,

"Is that a woman or a man?"

And you always seem outnumbered,

you don't dare make a stand

Here I am

On the road again

There I am

Up on the stage

Here I go

Playin' star again

There I go

Turn the page

Out there in the spotlight

you're a million miles away

Every ounce of energy

you try to give away

As the sweat pours out your body

like the music that you play

Later in the evening

as you lie awake in bed

With the echoes from the amplifiers

ringin' in your head

You smoke the day's last cigarette,

rememberin' what she said

Here I am

On the road again

There I am

Up on the stage

Here I go

Playin' star again

There I go

Turn the page

Here I am

On the road again

There I am

Up on the stage

Here I go

Playin' star again

There I go

There I go

another french song, this time sung by another Icon, Edith Piaf.

piaf.jpg

interestingly enough, the music is from Lieber-Stoller.

This song was written in 1956...

L'homme à la moto

(the man with the motorbike)

Il portait des culottes, des bottes de moto

Un blouson de cuir noir avec un aigle sur le dos

Sa moto qui partait comme un boulet de canon

Semait la terreur dans toute la région.

(he wore motorbike trousers and boots

a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back

his motor fast like a bullet

was scaring away the entire region)

Jamais il ne se coiffait, jamais il ne se lavait

Les ongles pleins de cambouis mais sur les biceps il avait

Un tatouage avec un cœur bleu sur la peau blême

Et juste à l'intérieur, on lisait : "Maman je t'aime"

(Never was he combing himself, never was he washing himself

dirty nails full of dirty oil but on his biceps he had

a tatoo with a light blue heart and inside

one could read "Mum, I love you")

(In the noise of his bike and his exhausts

he jumped like a devil with flames in his eyes

at the train junction it was like a firebolt

Against a train going south

And when they cleaned the remaining parts...)

On trouva sa culotte, ses bottes de moto

Son blouson de cuir noir avec un aigle sur le dos

Mais plus rien de la moto et plus rien de ce démon

Qui semait la terreur dans toute la région...

(They found his motorbike trouser and boots

his black leather jacket with an eagle on the back

But nothing from the bike and nothing from the demon

who was terrorizing the entire region)

(fast translation...)

By the Manic Street Preachers:

"Motorcycle Emptiness"

Culture sucks down words

Itemise loathing and feed yourself smiles

Organise your safe tribal war

Hurt maim kill and enslave the ghetto

Each day living out a lie

Life sold cheaply forever, ever, ever

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Life lies a slow suicide

Orthodox dreams and symbolic myths

From feudal serf to spender

This wonderful world of purchase power

Just like lungs sucking on air

Survivals natural as sorrow, sorrow, sorrow

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

All we want from you are the kicks you've given us

All we want from you are the kicks you've given us

All we want from you are the kicks you've given us

All we want from you are the kicks you've given us

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Drive away and it's the same

Everywhere death row, everyone's a victim

Your joys are counterfeit

This happiness corrupt political shit

Living life like a comatose

Ego loaded and swallow, swallow, swallow

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Under neon loneliness everlasting nothingness

Song: Ghost rider

Band: Suicide

Only came across this one on a video game set in the 70's

Song: Motorbike song

Band: Angry Anderson

Album: Blood from Stone

This is certianly not one to write home about.

What about Ghost Rider by Henry Rollins and the Rollins band?

"Ghost Rider motor cycle hero

Baby baby he lookin' so cute

See him ride ride ride in a blue jump suit

Ghost Rider motor cycle hero

Baby baby baby he's a blazin' away

Like the stars stars stars in the universe

Ghost Rider motor cycle hero

Baby baby baby he's screamin' the truth

America America's killin' its youth

Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider"

Lyrics are identical Suicide probbaly did a cover as I tunes calls it a 2004 release. Odd because its associated with the 70's bit of the game. I don't see Rollins doing to many covers somehow.
