thanks for the advice - just to reiterate though - the starter turns the engine over so just a case of fuel/spark absence - I'll try wiggling the relays though and WD40 the plug caps and coils - maybe I should light a fire under the sump like the long distance truckers do...

hi folks - first time my 2000V11 has let me down. I have to confess it has been stood for a couple of weeks and its been quite cold - even here in west London. Plenty of juice in the battery - it seemd to spin over no problem and the fuel pump made its customary buzz. However I didn't have time to investigate further. Although I've a reasonable amount of spanner knowledge and owned several guzzis before I wondered whether people out there with more V11 knowhow than me could let me know likely list of things to try ? Any advice gratefully received. regards Tim

Friend of mine (admittedly a Laverda rider) claims that to change the Breva's air filter requires the removal of a cylinder.... shurely shome mishtake.....

Hi - yes had the gearbox recall done. Chesham isn't a million miles away from me - do you get to the Ace ever? Tim

Hi 2000 V11 sport owner here. I'm interested in the drive shaft greasing solutions you seem to have found - unfortunately we don't have the same shops/stores here in the UK - has anyone found a fitting/grease gun over here that wil do the job (and a type of grease that fits the Guzzi spec)? Also I seem to remember someone posting a thread about an attachement for a greasegun that was simply a pointed tube (for a forklift truck or somesuch) - does that work?? As usual all suggestions gratefully recieved Tim PS Returned from a long high speed run in very hot weather a week or so ago and when I got back into the town I noticed the neutral light was on all the time - anyone experienced this before or know what it is (back to normal now)?

I've been following this thread with interest as I own a 2000 V11S with 17,00 miles on the clock. I've owned the bike just under a year and had a similar experience caused by a front wheel bearing siezing at 80mph+ on a motorway. This caused the bars to jolt violently and I'm sure I would have decked it if I hadn't dialled the steering damper in a few notches before setting out. I know this wasn't the reason this bike went down the road but it seemed relevant. moral of this story - use the steering damper and check the wheel bearings (some people recommend wheel bearing changes at tyre changes - sounds a bit extreme to me though) Tim

Hi Baldini Pretty easy to check - if you look up at the spine frame above the gearbox bellhousing then you'll see either a bracket...or not! regards Tim

Hi Boggycox I suddnely realised you wanted a London dealer - Motomecca are parts only (and useful advice) the place you want is Corsa Italiana Ltd, 0208 7154333 who are based in Collier's Wood in South London. When you come over we'll have to meet up at the Ace Cafe! Tim

Hi Bogycox I genreally use Motomecca on 01202 823453 or http://www.motomeccaspares.com/index.php Tim

thanks again Al and Carl - the drawing will be very useful. And good luck with the hybrid Carl - please post some piccies when you can Tim

Thanks for the thread - I've found the pic and I'm going to get one made as my dealer seems to have drawn a blank - if anyone has any blueprints or similar for the bracket I'd be grateful - looking at the thread on frame stiffness I think its probably a good move for my Y2K V11S which has to cope with lots of bumps and potholes here in London and environs. why the hell did they remove it in the first place though is what I want to know... Tim

Hi folks I see to remember a thread about the gearbox to frame bracket that was on early Le Mans but discontinued in 2000. Someone had a picture of it and I can't find it. Can anyone tell me where it is or even better re post the pic yours sincerely Mr Grateful y2k v11

Thanks for the replies - I have printed off Paul's very useful document and I intend to read it and see if I can grasp EFI from that. From what you guys have said it seems to be a case of throttle position senosr adjustment for which I need a carb balancer (got one of those) and a multimeter - can anyone recommend one? Afte that its a case of changing the ECU to be able to use different maps for (I presume) different silencers or similar for which I should probably use a technician as I don't think its worth investing in a gas analyser. My next question is how reliable is the EFI on my machine (00 V11)...do things go wrong? thanks again for your time and patience - it is appreciated Tim

I'm the proud owner of a 2000 V11 and its my 4th Guzzi but my first with EFI. I've always spannered my own bikes and (claim) to have a fair degree of knowledge. However when it comes to EFI I'm a complete gonzoid so I want to try and learn how it all works so I can understand the threads and guidance on this subject. Has anyone got any recommendations on where to start my research or is it an unfathomable mystery. What equipment would I need to mess about with the EFI system on my Guzz or should I leave well alone? (by the way I'm not that up on computers). all info gratefully recieved Tim

my experience was, after 16000 miles or so, a sudden collapse which could have been quite catastrophic. I've only had the bike a couple of months but I think it was on its original bearings. I'm tempted to go with the advice that you should change the whel bearings when you change tyres...they're not that expensive.

Just done this job on my 00 V11. Did the usual trick ofputting the bearings in freezer and warming the wheel with a hot air gun (not too near though) until the hub is nice and warm. As one of the bearings had collapsed (see earlier thread) the centre of one of the bearings just fell out and a couple of whacks with a hammer on a suitable drift took them out no problem. Whilst still warm I drifted them back in with a giant socket that is the same OD as the bearing outer ring. - however if you're unsure about this I'd use the Carl Allinson method. I used a small socket behind the centre ring of the larger ID bearing to allow the spacer tube to be driffted in (I used a piece of wood to avoid any damage to the tube). Finally put on the smaller ID bearing and hey presto. good luck! Tim

After a hairy moment on the M3 here in Blighty when one of my front wheel bearing decided to collapse - I'm wondering whther anyone can give me the size and type of bearings I need. (I have a friendly bearing place just up the road from where I live). This would speed repalcement up as I would have the bearings ready to pop straight in. Any useful hints or tips on removal/replacment are welcome - particulalry how to avoid taking any paint off when I drift the the bearings out! regards Tim 2K V11S

I saw a post by Pete Roper some time ago talking about the need for extra earths - engine and regulator from ehat I could recall. Can anyone give me a bit more info about this - what to earth and why - is it necessary on a Y2k model V11s? as usual all (constructive) info and advice gratefully received Tim

Howdy Belfastguzzi I have only had my V11 a couple of weeks - it came with a Bagster tank bag which is lucky because my old tank bag (Oxford) was magnetic. The bagster is not anywhere as nice a product as the Oxford both in design and material (some ghastly leatherette type stuff) but I'm stuck with it. The bike has a little rack which, although small could provide sum bungee points - I think motomecca sell them - I'm not sure how to attach a photo so if you send me an email I'll return it with a photo Tim

I'm assuming all the responses to my query re centre stands are about paddock type stands - are there any conventioanl centre stands available for the V11 that bolt to the bike? Tim
-
Anyone know whether centre stands are available for the V11...or am I asking a dumb ass question? Tim
