  1. A bit over 4,800 now. And the engine paint is starting to bubble all over - not just in a few spots anymore.

Welcome in the club… Had mine in twice for re-painting (warranty). I still see red pork chops, Scud, thought you were going all in on the dark/Scura side??

  2. Tyres: Those are BT020's? They'll be 12 years old now & weren't the greatest things when new.

Bike handles nicer on a 170 rear rather than stock 180.

Not sure earliest a flywheel popped, but I changed mine at 20k miles when it was working fine - found no visible damage or undue wear on it.

Check things are greased where they should be, factory didn't always have grease to hand during assembly...check particularly rear drive hub outer needle bearing.

Worth changing hydraulic fluids? Also, fork seals tend to go, especially when stood - might be worth getting some in.

Pawl arm spring (inside shifter plate) breaks. There's loads of info here if you try search. Again, might be worth ordering one in as a spare.

Glad you're liking the bike. They're a lovely, involving ride - last of the hairy-arsed Guzzis!!!

  3. Welcome in the club of darkness, Scud  :ninja:  :ninja:

Think you are tuned in ref. clutch hiccups, bubbling engine paint et al, but beside that it's a fan-fooking-tastic great bike. Not that I'm biased…

If you want it 'scura-er' then repaint the pork chops, did it on mine and it's as black as it can be now.

    Happy riding!

  4. Hi,

I've recently ordered a set of mistral exhausts and mistral crossover pipes for my V11 sport (03). With regards to installing them is there anything that needs to be done  such as tuning ecu or are just bolt on?

     Cheers

    Ports

Nope, I run Mistrals and x-over on my Scura and it's a straight forward job. Don't forget to Dyno your bike afterwards, a PC-V is recommended when you start fiddling with the zorst. Happy riding!

  5. You're going the Scura way with those shine CF bits, Kostarika, and how can I can disagree)  Also have the Roper plate, so roll on Spring.

Pissing down here as always but Spring is lurking around the corner, they say.

Have a great weekend and good luck with your bike.

    Cheers

  6. My caps are oxidized as well but I give them a good scrub and a splash of black paint now and then. Works for me.

Have you tried Gutsibits (http://www.gutsibits.co.uk/pr/Home/index.php) or Reboot (http://www.rebootguzzispares.com/index.html?mainframe.htm&2)? They won't have fancy anodized caps but maybe a good second hand cap. Worth a try.

Guzzirider works for Gutsibits so PM him or check their homepage.

    Cheers

  7. Last time I looked Ghezzi Brian were supplying OZ wheels which were cheaper than PVM. Their website is not great but drop Bruno an email and he will give you info / prices.

I am lucky enough to have a set of Dymags on my Daytona but these are not available anymore.

Wrote Dymag regarding three spoke wheels for my Scura but hey never replied. Same happened when I wrote HPS in UK (http://www.bikehps.com), so I'm also heading the PVM way now. Pity, I would die for a pair of Dymags but if they treat potential customers like shite they don't deserve my/your money. DÂS/GB is the way ahead IMO.

  8. There's always something rotten in Denmark... think bacon

Speaking of former members ... I wonder what's rotten in Denmark? I see Tikkanen was lurking here this morning!

Smoked bacon, not rotten, thank you! ;-)

I know, haven't been loyal and faithful to this pristine site thanks to too much work and what have you. Sorry!

BFG is busy arranging all kinds of carnivals in the UK (true), hence his absence here.

Scura time now, battery has been charged, sun is shining so time for first spin this year. Yeeehah!

  9. Any beer from Belgium will do the trick. Lived there for three years and I tried to drink my way through all the god knows how many brands they have. Mission impossible.

Try the Trappiste beers (made by monks), they are strong as f***  and make you go blind. Been there….

Slainthe, skol, prost, servus, salut, cheers, santé - the list is endless.

And what a wonderful topic to talk about here during silly season :-)

  10. Thanks, Fred - just got back from one week in splendid, sunny Ischia, Italy. Have to go on a detox now thanks to a 3 gallon daily wine consumption, burp...

My problem is I won't leave my bike at TTS for a year, that's a no-no. Guzzirider very generously offered to take Ms. Guzzirider's V11 up to TTS but I know John is a man that works at his own pace.

Have tried other tank makers in Germany but they all need the bike as a mock-up. Cutting a template is not an option; chances are way too big that Mr. Clumsy (me) haven't been accurate enough when measuring.

Just noted a new company, Kaffee Maschine in Hamburg, Germany, and they are worth a try. Hamburg is just some 3 hours down the road so I see a winter project coming up :-)

    Check out their homepage: http://www.kaffee-maschine.net/html/home.php

..and this is what I'm looking for: http://www.kaffee-maschine.net/html/teile_metall3.php

  11. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful that region of France/Italy is! I have been there 2 or 3 times for vacation and I'm going again after seeing these pics!

Echo that, fantastic place and outstanding food and wine.

Once again thanks for sharing your memories of a great trip, Orson. Always a pleasure reading your trip reports

    Cheers

  12. ...and let me chime in and welcome you onbord. mijn heer :cheese:

Sounds like we've gone down the same road as I also had a spell with the ingenuity from Milwaukee. Took me some 16 years to get out of the hibernation until I saw the crystal clear light from Mandello del Lario... well, you know what I mean. Still madly in love with the tranverse V2 engine and I really cannot see any other replacement - my Scura is a keeper until social health care workers drop me in the coffin.

Good luck with the Centauro and keep us posted - you're never alone and there is always someone out there who can give you a helping hand/piece of advice when needed. And it works both ways.

    All the best

    Søren
