ANSWERED OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 DC12V or Equivalent (CIT A11CSQ12VDC1.5R?)
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
I have ordered five from a seller who promised his R1s were OMRON original. Once they get to me, I will take pictures and post them here. -

Got the cancel email this morning! "Todaycomponents.com" should rename themselves "Yesterdaycomponents.com" lol.... Their website was not updated to reflect the zero stock. I am going to go with the "R1" which I found on eBay. -
ANSWERED OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 DC12V or Equivalent (CIT A11CSQ12VDC1.5R?)

Correct! All the five relays currently installed are made in Portugal from Tyco. The starter motor relay is the only one with that "A403" spec. The others have "A103" or A203". Incidentally, I got two replies from two different sellers of "R1" OMRON G8HE; they don't know the difference. One stated that OMRON no longer manufactures either. I purchased 10; I will replace my current 5, and will have 5 spare. We can expect those to eventually go out of stock for good. We should maybe try to find a replacement that is still being manufactured today. Although the number of V11 Guzzi owners will decrease as we slowly vanish from earth. It appears the future will only be electric.... -

Thanks for confirming. OMRON did specify ISO norms for the socket, as we can expect Moto Guzzi to have followed those rather than SAE. However, I have not yet confirmed the relay is the culprit. By the way, I have checked all the 5 relays, and only the 1st one from the left has three prongs. The others only have two. Which identify it as the starter motor relay. Also, the other relays have different labels, although all of them come from that same company in Portugal. Tyco. Tyco still exists: here's the company's business information: https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-profiles.tyco_electronics_-_componentes_electromecânicos_lda.f29e2be2ec2a21e03d9274c17c7f7af1.html -
ANSWERED OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 DC12V or Equivalent (CIT A11CSQ12VDC1.5R?)

Look at the data sheet from Omron: "R" stands for "Surge Suppressor". It is a built in resistor which is described at the line: coil rating: surge suppressor resistance.1/2 watt 680 ohms. I bet they updated the surge suppressor specs at some point and it became R1. @Pressureangle confirmed he installed an R1 on his bike with no trouble. When I did my search (I am not using Google by the way), the OMRON G8HE-1CT7T-R1-DC12 popped all the time. It seems it is easier to find, and may confirm it is a later spec. And before you ask: This is an SPDT relay type that stands for Single Pole Double Throw. IN the G8HE line there is also another type named SPST for Single Pole Single Throw. -

I found a company who still has them: OMRON G8HE-1CT7T-R-DC12 Here's the link. The G8HE- 1CT7T is top of the list. I bought 10. -

@paulnaz however those are "R1" and not "R". The middle prong of the three prongs side is larger than the one currently installed, made in Portugal. I don't think it would fit in the socket. As you can see in the pictures below. I am looking if I can find an equivalent relay from another brand. All the other relays have only two prongs. Fortunately, there was a spare 15 A fuse.... -
Yesterday, October 6th 2021, the starter motor did not crank immediately upon pushing the switch. The Neutral and low oil pressure lights dimmed, so the current was drawn, but the starter only kicked in after about one second. This morning, the same situation happened, but it blew the 15 amps mains fuse. The battery is fine. I changed the fuse, and started the bike. Same issue without blowing the fuse. The starter motor did not crank right at the button push. The light intensity showed the current was drawn but the motor did not turn run away. It took about one second. Could be a sticky starter motor, or a going bad relay. Unfortunately, the OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 DC12V does not seem to be available from a trusted seller. I found some on Amazon or eBay, but the sellers have warnings from "fakeguard". Anybody has any available for purchase? LMK

I like the idea of getting a proper diagnostic before an intervention. In the case of a V11, the piecemeal approach is the only one available at this time, for motorbikes who are no longer in production. The evolution of electronics have now gone to the point where equipment can alert the user of a malfunction, even ahead of time, and in some cases, identify the exact component that needs to be calibrated or replaced. I am not necessarily referring to the automotive industry. The trial and error has been the method of choice for decades before the Predictive Maintenance replaced it. We had to use oscilloscopes to monitor analogical signals, and rely upon our skills to pick the module that did not perform as expected. Verify the components, find the culprit, and verify the problem is no longer there. Sometimes, there were no clear cut answer. So we had to change components and test again, and repeat. Back to V11, there are a series of checks and tune ups that have been proposed elsewhere in the forum, and it is up to the individual to acquire the necessary tools, or to find a workshop to delegate the task. I have purchased all the equipment, but before I start intervening, I am in the testing phase. I am making sure the problem can be reproduced, and how and when it happens. That, and taking stoke of the other owner's experience as reported in the various forums. I wish it was straight forward, but it never is. I may live with the V11's coughing every now and then, or I will try to get it better. But I will proceed by steps.

Life after knee replacement.
p6x replied to 68C's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
It would be easy to tell you to never give up. I am four years younger than you are, and I had to give up on something I have done for a good part of my life because of a decaying ability. I think it comes down to how at ease you will be when you try to ride again, and how safe you will feel when you are on the motorbike. As long as you still experience the good vibrations, then don't look at the rest. -
@Kane Although I found someone EUR based willing to receive the tinned enclosed fishes, I am unable to complete the transaction on their website. I have some people looking out for these in supermarkets, but none of them live in Brittany. The lady who answered once is no longer communicating. Not giving up...

@dbarb3 I am 6' too. The Le Mans fairing is surprisingly effective; without lowering my torso to hid behind the cupola. The wind draft still hits the top of your helmet though, it did affect me at the beginning, but I am fine now. I must have built some neck strength. My biggest gripe is the wind noise in my helmet. I do not wear ear plugs, or in ear audio that would reduce my awareness on the road. My Shark Helmet is supposed to be reasonably "silent", even if not the best in this department. After my latest outing, about six hours of effective riding, I experienced Tinnitus. I have to admit that it may not be entirely related to Motorcycle riding. I also have played electric guitar for a long part of my life....

Unfortunately, after that initial response three days ago, she has not answered my "how do we make it happen?" Not really surprised. They have a website setup to do online sales, however you cannot use their system if you have an address in the USA. The list of countries is locked. They are not geared up to sale outside of Europe. Probably one transaction is not worth their while? I am going to check if I can use a "relay".

House-Tuning: anyone used them? they reprogram Moto Guzzi V11 ECUs;
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
It's in Italy, and this is what they say you can get: http://www.house-tuning.de/en/pagina/editor/whereare/#table But if there is only one item that should make you want to go there, it is Coffee; only in Italy do they understand what a good coffee should be! -
Do want the three graphic designs, or exclusively the one with the Moto Guzzi?https://www.laquiberonnaise.fr/sardines-millesimees/235-sardines-a-l-huile-d-olive-sans-arete-millesimees.html I think that when you order the 3 lot, you get the 3 different designs. Which can work to our advantage. We can keep the Guzzi looking ones and eat the others.

From what I understood, 250 EUR is for the full service. You bring the vehicle, wait in the lounge, and drive out once done. -
So I finally got a reply; but they want to sell 20kg... one tin is 0.115 kg; so that would make a total of 174 tins lol... I could open up a shop and start selling Sardines. Tell me how many you would want. One tin is 6.00 EUR TTC; or 3 for 16 EUR. Then I will check what is the best shipping cost we can get.

If you talking about unsealing the bezel from the gauge, it is not very difficult. You need to pry it out with a very thin blade. Don't use the only screwdriver you could find. Use something thin with a large blade to minimize the damage you could cause to the plastic rim of the bezel. When sealing it back, use some very light glue, so you may be able to open it again if you need to.
