Oh what fun.  V100 sounds better all the time!

I was saying the same thing a year ago except my alternative was an R Nine-T!

Once you get done fact finding and get this bike sorted it will be worth it!  Have you sourced an upper gearbox bracket yet? 55_pct_frame_mount.JPG

There’s a RC for sale locally. Says it’s one of 50. I have a feeling that’s more Italian counting, like the horsepower rating. Doesn’t have red valve covers. My friend is interested in it.

Should it have Lemans side panels?

“A really beautiful Moto Guzzi Rosso in superb condition with no operational issues! Only 8,600 miles, recent battery and tires. Only defect is sligh bubbling of the right side decal, an unfortunate byproduct of ethanol gas and very sloppy fill ups! Generally not noticeable and no one has ever mentioned it to me at rallies and events.

Only 50 were imported to the USA, and this one is owned by the former president of Moto Guzzi North America!

Why spend $20K on a bike everyone will forget in two years and will halve it's value when you could own an are very rare and classic Guzzi!”

This is an old ad but it appears to be an original complete example to compare.

A poignant contrast of V11 in their natural January/February habitat:

I have to walk past the motorcycles to get to the snow shovels and firewood. 6 degrees F this morning when I left for work. This habitat sucks right now!

  4. Several other forums I belong to have employed this strategy and it honestly never bothered me. I think it gives an interested individual time to poke around and explore. They still have instant access to the most comprehensive source of V-11 information on the planet. Waiting 12-24 hours to post seems like a small price to pay.

Hi I think I have a gearbox problem.

Went for a ride with brother yesterday. Got 20ks down the road and noticed a metallic noise coming from 2001 V11 RM. Stopped had a listen noise had gone away. Road another 100m noise came back. Stopped thinking this isn’t good. Tried to push V11 off on to road verge but couldn’t because back wheel had locked up. It took 2 off us to do it. I was still able to change gear but V11 wouldn’t move forward. Went home on brothers' bike (Yamaha MT09 not for me) and got car & trailer.  Got V11 home (Not easy loading a bike with a locked up back wheel). Checked back wheel not binding on swing arm or rear brake binding on disk. Nope. Then took back wheel out thinking diff might have locked up. Nope still moving freely. Then took selector plate off left hand side of gearbox. No sign of damage. Springs on plate still intact. I was still able to run through gears on plate. In retrospect I knew this because I could still change gear but it crossed 1 possibility off the list

Checked driveshaft out of right-hand rear of gearbox. I was not able to turn it. Gearbox is in neutral. I think this is what is causing back wheel to lockup.

    What has happened?

Only work I’ve done on V11 recently is replace Cam Sensor (Thanks MartyNZ for loaning me your spare) so unlikely to be anything to do with that

Were the Rosso Mandello bikes subject to the same transmission recall as my regular 2001 Sport? Was the work ever performed? I seem to recall reading if this failed it would cause the back wheel to lock up. Either way good luck!!

Yep, exact match. Date on headstock is 6/2000. So model year could be 2001, but no later. I wonder if it is really a 2000.

My bike is tagged 6/2000 and it's a 2001 model year.

I don't know if this is matte or what? More of a satin and certainly not gloss, but it was made by Guzzi so if they match your old pillion cover/booty hump one could assume the weave, color and sheen would be similar. Assuming never got anyone in trouble, right? Eager to see what he comes up with.

Thanks for doing the footwork. Much appreciated

Matte finish to match mufflers, etc., would be by applied finish, not by vacuum method.

Good evening, If I'm understanding you correctly, they would come out of the mold high gloss and a clear matte, semi- gloss or whatever would be applied by the end user?

If we could come in $220 or better and it pretty closely matches my screen. You guys can count me in for one.

I'd be super interested to see a sample of what the CF surface will look like.
