wow - very low price

More power, I usually need to get off the bike after I run thru a tank of gas with current mileage anyway.
But as a previous poster said "less weight" (even better!)

No ugly oil cooler to spoil the looks - great shots here thank you Jan

Pls post a pic when installed!

Took bike for a good long ride today in very hot weather to test out recent addition/replacement of heat shielding and subtle re-positioning of various items under the fuel tank to avoid radiant heat. My low RPM cough is now virtually gone, and I am happy with the results of this fiddling. My bike has always run like a top for 3 seasons and then was not very happy in summers. Now the bike is perfectly ride-able even in stop and go traffic in the heat. OK, I do still have a very slight stumble between 2-3K RPM but I have always had it and it is 2nd nature to me to compensate for it after 50K miles on this thing.
(edited typo in stated mileage)

To clarify, my use of the term "vapor lock" refers to intense sputtering at low RPM in hot ambient conditions at low speeds (e.g. stop and go traffic).

Vapor lock hunt today. I installed new nicely shielded fuel line from Scud - even fits after I scooted my fuel pump forward by 1/4" to get it "that much further away" from the hot cylinders. Pump is in the orig V11 Sport location under the spine . I also put some heat shielding over fuel line on right side for the heck of it and installed a new fuel filter and breather line (no real reason). Re-tacked on the heat shielding under the tank as best I could. Cleaned and oiled the pods. Of all things, I almost could not get the tank bolt in - I think tank might be slightly swollen. Bike started up with no leaks....am too greasy to put on my gear and test ride.
Oh I spilled some gas and it turned my epoxy paint job under the bike to grey crud.

I have the Aprilia Mille front end on my 2001 V11 Sport and am extremely happy with the resulting handling and adjustability. I love this bike and also my Africa Twin for very different reasons.

I have a little single "bulb" LED that glows green red or yellow very discreetly to indicate charging status which has tunred out to be one of the better and cheaper additions to my V11 yet made. Unfortunately it was obtained some time ago and I do not have the source of the product to post.
I also really like the wool arm warmers from Ibex. I carry them in 3 seasons as they make a huge difference if you get chilled while wearing a leather jacket. They also roll up very tightly.

Gosh I use the pad to rest my left elbow on long trips

Ahead on EICMA 2017, BMW is teasing a mid-size ADV with chain on left and exhaust on the right: https://auto.ndtv.com/news/eicma-2017-bmw-teases-f850-gs-ahead-of-official-unveiling-1770802

Man, if you get $19k for your Scura..,,,
...then I would buy another Scura and pocket the (substantial) difference.
What ADV bike are you thinking of getting?

Avoids the scratchy scratchy on the triple clamp too

By the way, Dave Richardson retired just a few days ago. He is in good spirits and seems genuinely happy to be starting his next chapter of life. Moto Int. in Seattle continues to be a very active dealership focused on Moto Guzzi and Aprilia.

FWIW, I would be interested in buying a fuel tank arranged via a group buy.

An ADV thread sounds great!
( "Special Place for Banter" is probably the right place since it's not "V11")
yeah, I am on the verge of buying an Africa Twin!

BTW Bugtarget, as you probably know, there are some excellent Guzzi repair pros in Seattle, send me a message if you want me to point you to some (no affiliation to me).

good choice for a wide range of range of riding conditions and one that is true to the Guzzi heritage -- where they have been doing scramblers since "way before it was cool"

I have the same experience in New Jersey every time I get stuck in traffic on a HOT day. Coughs and sputters. Once enough to blow the intake collar off the throttle body.
The worse was when I had a FBF air filter kit installed. The intake is right between the hot cylinders. In stop and go traffic not good. I removed it and went back to the stock airbox with snorkels that take air from the front of the engine. Much better but still coughs at times. Always wondered if installing pods would make this worse. I imagine it would so I will probably stay away from that mods (although I would like to giver it a try someday).
Any pod guys out there experience this issue during slow hot going?
Re: pods. Yes I have pods and I also experience pretty bad sputtering at low RPM's in hot weather.

I am teaching a motorcycle safety class or I'd head up from Seattle. Took an unbiased look at the V11 today and realized she is showing her age but the wear and tear is all legitmately earned!

I am a big fan of his and have followed the sad event of his bicycling accident in Italy closely. Saw him win at Laguna Seca. He was a friendly fellow and a dedicated competitor.

Useful riding mod: I now carry a compact pair of black wool/slight bit of spandex arm warmers that I slip on under my leather jacket whenever it gets a bit chilly. A small thing to carry but can have a huge difference on your body temp in cooler climates or in the mountains. Just passing the tip along FWIW.

All good advice above - especially checking battery terminal connections for tightness.
I suppose there could be a fuel quality issue too - but the symptoms do not line up perfectly for this being the culprit. Sounds heat or vibration related.
-
I think your assessment is right.
I have never felt the need for more power. Well except on straightaways on a track. In daily driving I find the power curve to be excellent and all I have done is add a PC-III and Staintunes. Well, pods too.
Anyone heard about this company in Germany?

They seem to have spoked wheels of their own manufacture, not sure if they support V11
