  1. The Corsa is "RED" as are the others. I'll send a pic when I can work out how it's done
  2. Ok, I'll try again.... Lawyers riding Guzzis are alive and wellin Bundaberg Australia. Two partners in my firm have Guzzis (VII and Daytona). Office Manager has a Corsa. Anyone want to give cheek.....then we'll get ourselves another
  3. Would agree that putting in a heavier grade oil or additive "slows" down the leak. I have been using a % of Moreys oil additive on my 2002 LeMans. The gearbox does not leak when the bike is being used fairly regularly and only loses a smear when not. I might try Redline. Do you use it as a % with the recommended oil or straight Allan
  4. The slight (and difficult to locate) smell of buring "oil" was with my bike (2003VII LeMans) since day 1. Never really chased it down but 15000klms later I found it as the transmission leak from the two metal faces of the transmission leaking onto the Xover. Took the lazy way out. Add some Morey's oil stabiliser to the required (and recommended %) to the gearbox oil. It don't leak no more and 5600klms to Phillip Island for the racs and back proves it. Just needed some "heavier oil". Before I left I mistakenly put in some lighter grade gear oil and it lterally pissed out (even with Morey's) put the right grade in with Moreys and all gone. Allan

    MPG?

I agree with the general consensus. When the engine is new and tight poor mileage. When it does a few miles the mileage generally improves When I first got the 2003 Lemans it was getting about 39mph on the highway. Big difference from my previous MkIV LeMans. With 13000klms on the clock I just had a quick run on the highway and back (no luggage) of about 800klms for a cup of coffee and a sandwich and averaged abou 52mph at average sped of about 120klms. Yeah, I'm happy with that. Just wait for constable blogg's photos now if I am unlucky...Prick Allan
  6. Thanks all for the info. Yeah Al, I read Graham's post and found it really informative. To some extent I am basing my changes on his info. I find that my sag figures etc are close to his but haven't yet had a chance to take the bike for a spin. Well there you go, I always thought that my bike was a 2002 model 'cause I ordered the bike in June 2002 when I first saw it appear on the net. When it was delivered in December 2002 the paperwork said it was a 2003 bu I just thought that it was a marketing gimmick/ploy because I had to wait sooooo bloody long. As for the front forks, the manual says that it has preload adjustment (if you can trust the manual and it's translation). The wording I used in my initial post was from the manual: "The motorcycle is equipped with a hydraulic telescopic fork with separate adjustment of shock absorbers during rebound and spring preload"..Nil about compression Mario? "Vehicle attitude setting-each fork leg has an uper screw =A= for adjusting hydraulic braking during rebound and a upper nut =B= for adjusting spring preload." blah, blah blah. But it doesn't talk about any compression adjustment. Hmmmm. just have to keep playing unless someone can come up with something else. Thanks, Allan.
  7. Well I give up. I've done the searchs and read the threads on front and rear suspension. My 2002/3 LeMans seems great at speed and straight line, but has "shook its head 3 times" mainly on cornering. I've checked and increased tyre pressures, rear preload etc, but I'm still not happy with my front forks. The threads here and elsewhere talk about increase/decrease compression, rebound and or front preload. Each to their own. BUT, front preload and front compression? My manual says my Lemans has hydraulic telescopic forks with separate adjustment during rebound and spring pre-load. So by this I take it the bike has no compression adjustment (original suspension- none of that fancy Ohlins yet). So does that mean the preload should be set and then left or should it also be treated like a"compression" adjustment It seems that reducing the preload just makes the bike sit lower in the front and not necessarily making the front end softer on compression. I know the difference between front preload an compression but I seem to be finding it had to reach a proper setting and the "standard" setting set by guzzi are not satisfactory for me at approx 86kilos. Any ideas? Thanks Allan
  8. Amazing. My neutral light just went out a few days ago. Never a problem before. So I did the checks: -Yeah, transmision still there -yeah,battery still there. Changed bulbs over. Still have an indcator but no neutral. The amazing part is that since the neutral light went "out" the bike(2002/3 LeMans) won't idle on th side stand. Bugger. So you reckon it'll come back on if I'm patient....hmmmmmm. BTW whereabouts is the sending unit on the transmission. Thanks, Allan
  9. If it turns out to be bad fuel (that is, water) drain it and thn add some methelated spirits. This will break down the water with no ill effects to the system. Can't remember the exact amount ('bout a teaspoon to the tank?? Some hreads here (Oz) say add metho from time to time to overcome condensation water in the tank Allan
  10. Sounds like a lot of hard work. My 2003 LeMans cleans is starting to clean the dirt off the engine itself. Previously I had to wash it to. Now the paint just blisters and falls off taking the dirt with it. Talk about technology
