  1. I was a forensic guy for long years, I do not like bullets, specially when they go into a human chest. I hope one day people with guns of any sort will be forced to undergo a long course about human rights. Shame on any one who can use a lesser force and chooses to get the gun instead! In any event I appreciate this tread beacuse I got a hint of what people is thinking: Shall I ask: Is the today's scary movie been produced rather inside cars with christmas lights in the roof? ( ) The positive note, the day is great here and I was able to commute to work in my MG the cool weather, MG strong and soomth (2600 miles). Anthro

    Am I crazy?

Crasy would be if you can afford it, and do not get a new bike... Go for it Why not anther guzzi? My next one -if economy allows- will be a Le Mans-
  3. In my opinion is just the contrary of stupidity, the nazi custom may just be disregard about history and people , but living the life of the rich on everyone else's tax and get peoples' attention and even acceptance rates is smart. I think this is just bad people, shameless individuals that belong to a cast that knows how to crawl on top of everyone else's back . The royal families are a social problem and is up to all of humanity to get rid of them. The French done it couple of centuries ago, now may the time for the British to lower their tax . I do not like the guillotine, just give then the pink slip and let them look for a job in the classifieds . I guess the worst punishment for the royal family would be a normal life where people needs to earn a living . Back to bikes, I guess having to balance my life to budget my MG is part of the magic feeling when I ride it . Anthro

Hi, It seems that MG owners voice their problems and love for their bikes in a way that place the new MG addicted in a deeper void: while tempted to buy MG his concern grows about reliavility, even do you often read about MG with over 200k milles and still strong. MG Owners seem to me more than fine group of people they are not afraid of forming a sort of community and share good and bad issues . My experience: I purchased a new 2003 California Aluminum. The single plate clutch and the PI (hydrolic valve llifters) engine are considered flawed not only at this website but many others. The fact is my particular bike now with 2500 miles it still flaw-less . The engine felt crappy until reaching 500 miles, since then is a pleasure and I like more every day. The peack power may not be real high but the engine will chug along the 560 pounds bike in 5th gear from about 1500 rpm with a real pleasent low frequency vibration. The engine seems real happy at about 5k rpm. but the speed limit in Texas will only let me dive it at around 3200 rpm -just about 65-70 mph. There is no need to drop to 4th to quickly speed up and pass, and you will find your self over 85 mph with no struggle. The frame is extremely easy to maneuver, and it will accept about any input and trajectory/speed correction even in bad curves. I notice that MG is very stable and will stand corss winds at Hiway speeds with no effort. The linked braking system: I was ready to ask the dealer to eliminate, but I learn to use it and since is quite well balanced I am keeping it as is . It is a great bike, I just hope to add a V11 or leMans to my garage soon . I hope you decide to enjoy MG. Anthro
  5. We got TX to scare them away
  6. The price battle is over... all business is back to normal, price schedule make unrealistic purchasing out of state. I least I got to enjoy my first MG for cheap, the next one (I hope soon) will have to be at its real value, and perhaps from a local dealer. I did never fear that MG will go out of business under Aprillia. I just felt how desperated for money they where to clearence such fine pieces. No more huge difference with dealer pricing, so indeed Orange County was not evil, and I am not a WalMart stock holder (and will never be), it was just a company trying to survive selling some of its products for fast cash. LONG LIFE TO MG. Salute Anthro
  7. I am riding my California aluminum 2003 with 500 miles on it... I has the 5 speed gear box but, I do have the same problem of false neutrals... I think the shift requires more presition on the drivers' actions, I notice that it hapens more often when my handling is a bit too relaxed... I always use the clutch. The few times I did not use it the bike seems happy when I but I do not like to take chances. Anthro
  8. What a controversy!!!. I am really amazed, I though the passion for motorcycling and specially MG was something clearly into the sports and the technology, I did not suspect to be on the spot at this site just by buying a MG to the best of my habilities as a consummer (!?). Indeed support and warranty, together with parts and accessories are important. But no one is going to make me feel like crap just because some local dealers are not able to put the money where a sales guy supposed to, into selling. I am not a supporter of business like Walmart or similar, on the other hand I can not be supportive of the laziness and comfort of a zoned market place where there is no need for pricing dialog with the potential customers, you buy in Texas here is how much is it. We are making a moral deal of the lack of will to risk and invest of some dealers that happen to be closer to home. They were unable to jump into the MG-USA urge for cash, and I am sorry about, but they knew what they were not doing. If I am in business I’ll take one of the today’s cheap loans and buy (and sell) as many MG’s as I could. I guess I’ll have to get the new dealers Pack from MG-USA to help to bring more MG riders to Texas. Then we would not be having this bitter discussion and we all be welcoming new MG riders who will participate in the expansion of the market for MG parts and services (we all want that). Note for Redneck: The MG Aluminum is doing great, I mean I was ready for the worst of the MG experiences, buy wanted to get into a MG anyway… and I got an almost perfect bike… I have no leaks, not clutch flaws no misfire, vibrations are down to pleasant (450 miles) I just need to watch it not do wheelies as I used to do while in college age on my jap iron. I though this site was committed to MGuzzi, I mean the riders' passion for it. When you like a football team or have passion for soccer, do you really care about where you got your tickets to attend to game? I mean MG sold one more bike; I’ll be paying for parts and repairs, and may be some toys. Money will stay local according to the local investment. They could not sell the MG, but they will do the rest, that is what they are investing on... Anthro
  9. You are right, I was a bit out of line when I said "texas dealers" (but I had a simmilar perception of stiff and firm pricing policy with other dealers dealing with other brands of motorcycles... ) I did call and MPH indeed show some interest but not enough to wire me and get the day off at work. During that time -February- when I made my mind (first: to get a MG!, then: this summer!) they had a new 2002 Scura below 9000 dls, but with 02's engine paint problems all improvements introduced during 2003 I decided to get a 2003 or 2004. I did my Homework calling around with no much luck... Actually I learned about MPH by talking to the guys at mr fix it... http://www.mrfix-it.net/ (They do not seem to stock MG any more) Distances are great in Texas and price talking does not work over the phone. I may add to the "do not drive MG while upset", "do not post while upset" Do not worry about MPH, they are going to get my business for the maintenance, and I hope, my next Guzzi. Truth: I got the California aluminum because it was real cheap, and has the engine I love since the early 80's, but the one I was looking for a Le Mans. ( After riding the California for 350 miles I just love it, I will add a LeMans but not get rid of the Cali). Anthro
  10. I do not stand by any dealer. To set the record: The MGuzzi OC sold me was indeed well prep, now at 350 miles I just enjoying it. Dealers are dealers... I just would like to see a better market presence for MG. But I think, part of the problem is indeed the dealers. The old choice of volume or margin may keep MGuzzi almost too exclusive for us to enjoy a good support and spare parts availability. The local dealer I was trying to purchase from was Britalia, a small dealer for BMW, Triumph and MG. Located close to I45 near the Hobby airport in Houston. Since I was not easy about buying my bike over the phone, I offered about 1k dls. over the OC price. They recognized that there was an special from MG-usa for crated bikes they could order. We agreed the they will look into that and get back with me, but after a week of wait, I called them but they did not do their homework... not to even say NO we can not... but ...here is what we can do... Only then I decided not to deal with them and order my bike from OC. I just could never make it to MPH... is one of those things too near to get the day off and to far to just make it... and to go there on Saturday you need to make an appointment... Related experience Trying to buy a car ... the dealer near by (Mazda of Clear Lake) wanted 17k for the car firm!!! close to cost price, etc... Next day I drove 90 miles and got the same vehicle with more toys for 13.9K... in a follow up call the sales rep wanted to cry saying that they were able to beat that price... but to my recollection, they just did not!!! I would not cry the dealer’s cry. -------- I think all this MG price deal had to do with the cash crisis at Aprillia, and is going to go back to normal soon. In any case every day I enjoy more my MG, and started putting coins aside for my next one... Warning Do not drive MGuzzi while upset.... The very heavy MG Aluminum sport will do wheelies in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, definitely is not a driving mattress -read HD- Anthro -
  11. Thanks for sharing the whole story Anthro
  12. I just purchase my first Guzzi, done it by phone off Santa Ana California (I am in Texas)... Dealer was honest, they delivery, but I had to hunt them in every step, they where extremely relaxed... but finally I got the Bike. Shame on the Texan deales They rather send your business to another state than work the sales price into a decent deal.
