  1. I'm curious about something... this new sump is stamped with the name "RR Racing". Is anyone familiar with the company that makes it? Did they perhaps take over production from Moto Spezial? Just wondering.

As a side note, I haven't been able to mount this one just yet. Still trying to work out how I want to go about connecting the breather return line, as this sump is tapped for an M20x1.5 connection rather than the stock M16.

  2. fuel consuption between 6 and 7 liter/100km. Not only on the BC but calculated at the pump too.

Luggage? the topcase and small tankbag were enough to be on the road with two, a week long. No tents, only hotel.

  3. well, I've done 5000km now. i'ts very comfortable. With 2 on it too. My wife has been on the back for 2500km, she likes it. Best bike she has been on.

    Problems until now:

    - after a night in the rain in Mandello, the tacho sensor failed. After almost a day driving it started working again. I kow known problem, stupid is that the dash gives an alert and nothing works anymore.

    - Some spillover gas has left it's dark marks on the gastank.

When driving with two, the headlights shine to high, and made some cardrivers real pissed, especially the one in Pisa in a Panda... .

  4. Arent you going to get that new Aprilia rsv v4 Ben? I figured your old one would be feeling a little slow after reading the reviews of the new one :lol:

Well, in the country where 70 mph is fast, the old one will do I suppose.

I can remember to have seen a mgs01 in the UK for 17K gbp. And that was when 1 pound = 1 euro. Now it will cost 22k euro.

  5. We are back and had a great time. I Started in Eindhoven, and went through Germany in 2.5 days to Milan. There I met my wife, who came by train to Milan. We went to Fbike for the first service, what all went well. During the service we visited the center. After that we took the autostrada to Bologna, where we visited the center and had lunch. After lunch we took the sp65/ Strada regionale della Futa. Very nice road but took a lot of time, and we ended that day in the dark in Stia, in Hotel Faltorona, where we got their room with painting on the ceiling.

The next day, we went to Perugia where we had lunch, and after that to Assisi. There it was real hot, and we went to our goal the Hotel Montali, south form lago Trassimeno. There we cooled in the pool, and had a great dinner. Unfortunately we had to leave the next day to Pisa where my wife should take the plane home. But during the day she decided to stay with me and travel the whole way home at the Stelvio backseat. I shorthand the route for the next day, and we took the ss12 from Pisa to Modena, a very nice road. After that I had planned to cross the Po valley, what wasn’t such a good idea. Roads full with trucks and cars, not something to come back too again. We ended that day in Mandello, where all Hotels were booked. So we slept at the camping in Abbadia Lariana. The next day was to cross the alps, and started direct with rain, and it was cold too. The Majola and Julierpass were nice. The holiday was one we will never forget, and we planned to come back to Montali for more days. http://www.montalionline.com/

The Stelvio did its job well, only the speedosensor didn’t work after some rain in the night. A known problem more Stelvio and Griso have. And some spilled gas over the paint from the gastank has left its brown marks. The Stelvio has proved to be a good touringbike, also with two people, and that’s why I bought it.

The trip was 3500km, and with a small trip this weekend it now has 5000km done.

A special thanks for Calidreaming who communicated between me and Guareschi, where in the beginning I planned to do the service, but it didn’t fit in the travel schedule, so I went to Fbike.

  6. The mgs has a cush in teh wheel. The housing from the gears is only missing the outer ring, a difference in looks but only 200 grams weight. I know because I did the same to my hub. Gearing at the hub is the same. The MGS has a larger primary gearing. The rest is the same as v11.

  7. I'm currious too, to know too why they changed the v11 sport frame. I have allways thought it was bad press. At the time the german magazines had bad things about it. And just at that moment Aprilia took the factory over, and wanted to make an end with te bad press. But they changed not only the frame angle/lenght. The front engine-frame mount is made stiffer, and more important, the rear part between engine and frame is made more stiff, with the extensions to the engine. That last change is the most important one I think.

My Daytona has a even one degree steeper angle then the v11 sport. And doesn't do strange things. But more things changed so this is no good comparison.

  8. german

There is no Swiss language. The people of Switzerland speak many languages. They are influenced by the languages of France, Germany, Italy and Austria. A majority of the people, around 64%,speak German or the German influenced Swiss dialect of "Schwyzerdütsch." Around 19% of the Swiss people speak French. Another 8 % of the Swiss population speaks Italian while 1 % speaks Raeto-Romanic or Romansch.

  9. well , everyone makes his own discicions. Six years ago I was up to something new. There wasn't a bike I really wanted so decided to build my own dreambike. I put the money in changing the Daytona. Now thats the way I like it. Lighther, much better handling. And then I found that I wanted another sort of bike, where I could travel with my wife with more comfort. So I bought a Stelvio. In september we will see if it is what it was bought for, then we will be making a trip to Italy.

I'm currious if such a bmw will be fun in the long term ownership. It certenly looks clever, well made and also a bit boring.

  10. If it isn't made for a hollow axle, you can swap the bottoms for those of the aprilia mounted ohins. But it is way to much money and work for the difference, to swap these parts.

    Hello all,

I just bought the Ohlins forks from a Nero Corsa (year unknown). I've read all the posts and understand fully (for the most part) what needs to be done.

I have one question at this time just to get myself ready for what lies ahead.

Did this version come with a hollow axle or a solid axle????? The pics on the classified section does not show clearly the lower axle/caliper foot.

If it came with a solid axle what would be the easiest bike to get a hollow axle lower fork mount for the Ohlins fork and using Guzzi/Brembo calipers???

    Thanks guys,

    Raceboy

  11. it looks alu. Don't get fooled by the idea, titanium isn't so much lighter, if it is at all. Mostly its only the outside that is different, it would do more if all internals were titanium. That's another price class. I know someone who has them without PC.

  12. Hi people,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me if Quat-D's "Vitto Replica" exhaust refers to their cross-over piece?

Was thinking about getting some quat-d end cans instead of the exbox system.

Anyone ever heard what these sound like? Hopefully not metallic like the exbox?

    Regards

    il_cacciatore

no thats a compete front to end solution, with 2 silencers, and sounds very good, deep. And the guy Ive seen with it on it's v11 was fast.

  13. Has anybody here noticed that moving the bevel drive to the back of the OE gearbox makes it necessary to move the swingarm pivot rearward (the wrong direction), and that because of this, the bevel --> chain conversions all seem to have great wallopping canal boat wheelbases? This has to be the biggest drawback, and the reason it never caught on. The OE wheelbase of a "short frame" Sport is m 1,471. Though I reckon it can be done, I can't imagine trying to stuff something on the order of ~m 1,480 wheelbase through the twisties -- OTOH, I'll bet that canal boat stability is a treat at the drag strip, or anywhere else on the straight >100 MPH. :huh2:

Well if you look better, Eric used a Hossak front setup, so the wheel can be very close to the alternator.

And he used a 5 speed gear box, when he made it the six speed wasn't even born. I put a six speed in his shop, and with a new rearcover the chain conversion could be integrated in the gearbox. It's that he doesn't have the time, beause he is to busy.
