    Piaggio / Aprilia

7-1-2005 TIME 11:47 PIAGGIO ANNOUNCES NEW MODEL PLANS FOR RECENTLY ACQUIRED MOTO GUZZI Milan, 7 January 2005 Piaggio & C., S.p.A. announces that it has completed a review of new model plans for recently acquired Moto Guzzi. We have moved very quickly to redefine the plans for new models from the company, particularly focusing on the highly anticiapted MGS-01. Our own analyses have indentified that Moto Guzzi typically attracts the 'more mature' motorcyclist, and we therefore believe that by combining the strengths of Piaggio and Moto Guzzi we can deliver a new concept in motorcylcing much more suited to this group of riders. Our research has revealed that potential customers often suffer from age related conditions and would prefer a more relaxed riding style than that demanded by the original MGS-01 concept. In addition these customers would prefer to have maching luggage as standard fitment allowing them to use the motorcycle for more practical purposes, including shopping. After lenghty discussion we have decided to stick with the MGS-01 moniker, which now stands for Moto-Guzzi Scooter - 01, and this means that we will be able to deliver the machine to customers on the existing waiting list without requiring them to complete any new paperwork. Piaggio refused to comment on plans for a racing verion of the new MGS-01.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7944451160&rd=1 I am sure we could organise a whip round and pick up a pair for you
  9. Antonio, What I meant was the photos show that the fuel tank and sidepanels are misaligned - certainly compared to my bike. There has to be some reason for this which is leading to the rubbing - dont have any sign of this. Rgds, Ken
  10. Hi Rob, There is definitely something wrong here - I just had my tank off today, I have a 2003 Le Mans, and there is no sign of any rubbing either at the sides or the rear, and the rear of the tank isnt close to fouling on the side panels. I also dont have any play once the bolt is tightened up its pretty much rock solid. Was your tank hooked up under the rubber mounts properly at the front ? I had to have a couple of tries to get mine back in exactly the right position. Rgds, Ken
  11. Safety issues (or not) aside I find the argal pegs to be much more positive feel than the stock pegs, and they certainly look a whole lot better. Taking Jims comments on board I was thinking about adding some cylinder guards but it isn't too easy to tell from web photos which ones come out far enough to offer some protection - anyone got any recommendatios ? Thanks, Ken
  12. I'm not sure bondage is an acceptable subject for this forum either - Antonio is going to be after you....

    Emissions for Europe

Guy - is this just a fine or if you have a UK licence do you risk getting points as well ? Rgds, Ken
  14. I remember being in Dallas for a trade show a few years back. I just got in and was trying to avoid crashing out with jetlag - I noticed there was something going on in the center across the parking lot so I thought it would do to keep me awake for a while. Jeez - it turned out to be a gun fair and some of the stuff in there was scary - even more scary seeing guys in bib and braces dragging these things across the parking lot to the truck, with boxes full of ammo !! I swear one guy had something that looked exactly like a rocket launcher, god only knows if it really was. It was about a year ofter Wako, so obviously that didnt have much effect on the right to bear arms....
  15. There was another thread about why footpegs fold up, and one benefit I did realise right away is that it seems a lot easier to manouver the bike when the pegs fold back slightly as you can reach your leg a bit further back and get more leverage, however all in all I think its probably better to have the added protection for the bike in the event of a spill... Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow, but from playing in the garage the gearchange did seem more positive, which makes sense as the linkage is much more direct with the upgrade kit - makes you wonder why they didnt do it that way to start with, even with the stock parts ? Rgds, Ken
  16. Not a book but a great way to waste some time over the holidays...... A couple of years ago I bought an Xbox to entertain the hordes of kids expected over during Christmas. I am not particularly into games so it spends 99.9% of its life switched off in the cupboard, however I had read a while ago about a mod chip that allows you to turn the Xbox into a media server, so I spent some hours doing research and purchased an Xecuter3 modchip. Installed the Modchip and the EvolutionX bios and dashboard, and Xbox Media Center, and hey presto I now have a great media server. I put a 160Gig disk in and loaded up all my mp3s, DivX movies and photos - the Xbox is plugged directly into the TV and surround system so it works great. It also means I can surf the web - not so great on the TV as the resolution isnt that good, however it does mean I can listen to web based radio from anywhere in the world, and quickly check the weather forecast, etc.... I have also loaded up all the games DVDs to disc so I can put the originals away from destructive powers of our 2 year old ! Considering the modchip is around $50 and everything else is a free download its really turned a little used box into a great piece of hardware - does make you wonder why Microsoft didnt exploit the full potential of the hardware. If anyone feels like giving this a try let me know and I can point you in the direction of the files, etc you need. Well worthwhile
  17. Spent some time this afternoon fitting the Guzzi argal footpeg kit to the bike. It should have been fairly easy except that the bush on the gearchange was a really bad fit and so tight that the action was stiff. I ended up taking everything apart to check with the rear brake parts which fitted perfectly. The bush on each side is a different size so its impossible to mix them up. Ended up having to carefully file down the bush on the gearchange side and it seems to work fine now, although it was too late to take a run out once I finally got finished ! Looking forward to giving it a try out tomorrow It certainly looks a lot nicer than the stock pegs but given the price you would think it would fit right out of the box
  18. The White Spider - excellent, if you like that sort of thing.....
  19. Sounds similar to problems I experienced see: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3807. You have my commiserations - its a pain in the but problem, but fixable and a well known issue. Good luck getting it resolved. Ken
  20. Good condition, almost complete but definitely a non-runner (unlikely it could be -repaired even if you can get the bits). Reason for sale is I am just bored with it and fancy something a bit different. I know the market isn't right to get the best price so I am open to offers. Anything over 50c and I will throw in some veg - they are looking a bit rough but do go well with the old bird. Buyer collect since I am too pissed to even get it to the post office. Have a great time one and all. Ken
  21. This is really annoying - its only the voiceover thats a problem, the talking in the background is fine. Amazing that someone could do such a bad job of recording a voiceover for a commercial program. Still worth watching though.
  22. Finally have a working NTSC DVD of the Guzzi program Just finished watching for the first time and its real interesting. If I can help out with copies for anyone please drop me a message with your mailing address. (I also have a PAL version if needed). Ken
