  1. Thanks for that info,I will be speaking to my local BM dealer,they were helpful when I needed a headlamp glass a year or two ago. I will however further pursue other options as I am sure they are out there cheaper still. I feel FIAT cars may use bushes this size on older cars for track control arm an like?
  2. Be good if you can find some to match,dimensions are,30mm o/s dia, 10mm dia hole where bolt goes through.width of steel outer of bush 26mm, widest point where bolt goes through ie inner sleeve 31.7mm.measured with vernier caliper. thanks andy
  3. Welcome to the joy of potential Guzzi ownership! My words would be, There are four types of Guzzi owner?...those that love the older say pre V1100 models, these guys like the simple no frills perhaps almost agricultural approach Guzzi once enjoyed,they dont mind hours or even weeks undertaking major overhauls when required (not often) they enjoy vintage motorcycling. That said in their day they were honestly as good as any competitor but with a bit of soul n character. Then we move to the more modern bikes the V1100 range of bikes,early examples sported carbs but soon moved to fuel injection. These bikes are more advanced in many ways using mono shock suspensions and in some cases inverted forks too. Braking took a leap forward and controls became lighter to use. Colours and models changed yearly but the core bike changed little save for a bigger 'facelift' around 04. These bikes need far less attention than the earlier bikes but still have that Guzzi soul an character in abundance. They are not perfect however and do sufer a few issues the majority of which have been discussed here. Few are major ones that should put you off ownership. Then we have the latest bikes spawned by the PIAGGIO ownership. These are bang up to date bikes with all the whistles an bells the japs or germans have but with Latin design flair too. I have ridden only one myself but everyone i speak to has little to criticise on them. I do feel a little of that Guzzi soul may have been lost in the update but not owning / living with one perhaps should not comment more. I guess these new machines will have few faults or 'bad habits'. They are more perhaps for the modern biker who wants reliability and the latest style above all else. Finally, the fourth type of owner? They love emm all! So, there you have my 'words of wisdom' on your question, which Guzzi? An a right load of drivel it was too....
  4. aah I can beat that!! I've a 15year old 205ltre drum of valvoline 20/50 to use!! I not more than 1/4 way though it!!! Got it for price of few drinks down the pub about 5year ago.. Means I change the oil as often as i can be bothered....worried I wear out the drain plug! Do you think I should give drum a shake before I use it....
  5. I running out of ideas here in Uk. Must be someone who can supply them or a close alternative. 10-2-07.Just got an e mail from manufacturer,could be got very cheaply if I order 250! So all I need is around 50 orders @£25 a set and I be ok............did Guzzi sell that many V11s ? lol

  9. Interestingly you cant buy the bushes from Guzzi separately...but if you buy a new arm complete with bushes..the bushes come separately in a little bag!! I had a quote of around £12 each here in UK..but I gotta buy 50! Awaiting writen confirmation. I feel sure some FIAT or suchlike uses same bush somewhere an they about 5p to buy...
  10. Well I don't wanna pretend I am an expert on V11 bevels but my feeling is there should be NO or miniscule play/lift in the pinion. The way its designed \brgs used would not like any more than the faintest whiff of play. What I will say is if you find a small amount of play,GET IT SORTED because at that stage little damage will have been done to other bearings by the swarf from the failing bearing and to replace just the little bearing (although its a pig to get out of case) is a relatively minor job. I check the drive u/joints as often as thinkk too, I guess every 3000m should be ok to catch things early but it only takes seconds to 'have a feel' Tightening the big nut will have no effect if its the little bearing but may if its the big main brg failing,this big brg is built to last and I think the problem will usually be that the little un has failed first perhaps causing wear to the main one.The serrated outer nut is the one that holds the big brg in place but again tightening this will have little or no effect. I of course do not have access to how the factory build the things from new but I be surprised if my view wrong. However if you can find out differently I humbly accept.(anyone read this in technical at factory)?
  11. Spoke to Corsa today and it seems Piaggio being pretty ruthless with old stock. Items we been able to get for yrs like 500 barrels n pistons are drying up fast as now discontinued by factory. Cables and the like soaring in price/discontinued too. However as a dealer new bike sales have soared because for once there is something truly new to buy! This means the dealers make more money and so are more financially secure which is of course a good thing. It seems the older bikes which are often in daily use will soon become just to hard to keep running spares wise. Progress huh.... The steering bearings are I think a particular part to this range of scooter,not the usual tapered roller or enclosed ball variety. I must be a right scrooge......i also own a 1971 Beetle! lol
  12. Are the bushes for the torque arm on the bevel box available separately from anywhere? They are a simple Metalastic bush and could easily be changed when worn. Mine have stared to show signs of wear (off centre/breaking up) and I am not keen to pay loads for a complete arm unless I have too. Anyone found a suitable replacment?
  13. I never get over the high cost of spares fer Guzzi but Peugeot Scooters got Guzzi beat! I been working on a damaged 2000 50cc Peugeot Speedfight last few days,cost of plastic panels SKY high when I enquired so I repaired existing best I could. Then I needed a wheel spindle..cost £24!!! Christ it isnt a complicated part to make! However today I discovered the steering races were shot,I striped it out to find bearings little bigger than a mountain bikes and a very crude set up. Upon calling the dealer I found new ones were nearly £60!!!!!!! ffs thats ridiculous.....Problem is I dont think I gonna have any choice,the layout doesnt lend itself to any other bearing alternative. I thought scooters cheap to buy an run. Sorry guys but had to have a moan about it as I've already spent too much on it and that is the final straw! ...wonder if cheaper in France or elsewhere? hmmm

  15. Ha thats interesting you say Reboot had one in stock..was it a crackle finish one? They broke my first Rosso about four years ago (it caught alight). When I asked about it they wanted much too much for it in my opinion. My first Rosso did only 300miles so box shoulda been good if it was my old one. Surely cant have been after this time? Thanks for giving Jack the business,always feel it good to support people who try that bit harder. Anyone who wants bearings outa the ordinary could do far worse.( I'll see him for my pint later)! lol I used my mates press for crownwheel brgs,although it didnt take a lot of pressure to shift.There will be NIL play when its back together. mail me if you want a chat about job and I wil telephone you or vica/versa.
  16. Hmm, firstly everyone be aware DK are probobaly reading this too! Maybee DK are claiming a clutch against a bike that is in warranty...........hence they no longer have the displaced parts........ Only problem with that is of course it would probobaly need to be another scura as this flywheel particular to bike? DK if you are reading this...COME CLEAN AND LET THE GUY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING! It may have been DK who I saw on E Bay breaking a V1100 not so long ago...wonder if they sold the clutch assembly? Can't be sure it was them....but
  17. Hi, I too would want to know what exactly has failed. Are you member of RAC or AA? If so get them to send a technical guy around to looksee for you. As its a Scura I would be worried it was a potential fly wheel failure too. You need to get to bottom of this one. At least dealer is honouring the warranty which is more than a lot of dealers do. DK are a big concern and hopefully will sort it out properly.
  18. Ye i think it will, trouble is...bike supported by paddock stand under rear swing arm at moment!! ffs why could'nt Guzzi made drive shaft slide through that hole!!! thanks fer advice Paul.
  19. lol, good point paul,I've left filler bung out to remind me to fill when it goes back on bike. I just stripping rear end off bike cause I need to repalce a weeping gearbox output seal and found driveshaft doesnt fit through hole in swingarm! So looks like gotta remove pork chops ect to get at seal...bah
  20. Jhem thanks for reply, did you ride the Griso as well? I wondered if the bike I took out just had an abused and weak clutch? And yes I rode the Spluga pass and I though vid looked familar territory but its impossible to be definate.
