Well i'm nearly ready for my first big trip into europe on the guzzi. The bikes just been fully serviced and all luggage has been bought.I must admit that i'm slighty nervous about riding on the other side of the road but i guess thats something you have to learn pretty damn quick! So i just thought i'd ask you guys for any tips on things to take(have bulbs etc).I'm heading for Romania then greece a 2 day ferry trip to northen italy, alps, france then home. All feedback would be most welcome cheers.

My first experince with my v11 has been nothing but a complete nightmare but i'm getting there. Its just been one thing after another but i have got the point that i've learn't more about motorcycles with this stubourn b***h than any jap bike that i've had(and its been a few).

Fair enough, to blame the dealer for what one of his contractors or employees have done to me seems a little unfair(i guess he wasn't there to over see every thing that comes into his workshop). But i feel that not only am i incredably lucky that it happened in a situation where i managed to control the bike but there maybe other riders who will come across this with less fortune than myself (god forbid).I'm just trying to say that i've had a bad experience, and to share this with others so that they are aware of the problems i've had!And everyone rides safely.

Ok, got the tyre valve replaced by my local bike shop they then informed me of why the valve became loose. When i brought the bike it came with two new tyres, now according to the shop owner there was no nut on the inside of the wheel to keep the valve in place and he recons that this was down to human error.I'm tempted to let you all know the X guzzi dealer who sold me the machine but being a recent member again i'm not sure if it is allowed to name names, but if you guys and gals think i should then i will.So now i'm in the throws of putting the rear back together.Once again thanks for all your help. one more thing as green as i am with the ways of the guzzi i find that its one big learning curve to which i seem to strangely enough enjoying!(with the aid of my 30 quid paddock stand).

Oh yeah now that really rocks.I promised my self spanking new bike for 06 and i reckon its that! I'm in italy early sept so i hope to get to the guzzi factory, and will be armed with camera (thanks to everyone with the advice on the rear wheel.Looking at the valve it seems to me that the backnut has corroded away and therefore has come lose maybe).

with the guzzis flat rear tyre i now need to remove the wheel,so is it best to buy a paddock stand (and from where in the uk)?I don't fancy the barbaric way of using a block and tackel as i don't reckon the garage roof would take the weight. And using a trolley jack to balance it on would only leave me with a sleepless night.

Had a bit of a situation on sunday with the guzzi, blatting around the A39 and fully enjoying the twists and turns when lost all control of the back end. Here we go again something else gone wrong!Pulled over only to find i had a puncture,so off the guzzi goes again on the back of a tow truck. After getting the bike home and inspecting the tyre for nails etc found that the schrader valve was compeletly lose.Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me!

Now the V11s sorted i've decided to take her to europe but need luggage.Baglux do a leather tank bag which i think may be the right thing to have but i will need some throwovers, anyone got any ideas on which in their case are the best to buy? Also would like to put a belly pan on my bike but at a hundred and sixty quid this seems a little bit expensive so is there any alternatives or do i just bite the bullet (a photo of one on a V11 would be appreciated) one last thing, the reg plate holders for £99 do they cause any problems in the wet as the rear mudgard will be removed?

Hello Murrry, Having tried most of what you and everyone else said found out a few things these are,yes the solenoid is causing some of the problem which has now been replaced. Then changed all the siemens relays which are apparently crap these have been replaced with bosch ones. Also the bushes in the starter motor were replaced but as the starter was opened up water was found inside and it appears this was shorting the electrics.Having never used a jet wash on the machine i could'nt figure why this was(it had not seen rain for months). Then it occurred to me that when i gave the bike back to guzzi(thanks to the guys at worcester)to get the engine re sprayed because of the dodgy paint guzzi had used, and i can only assume that this might have been pressure washed and the water must have got in at the top right of the starter.Anyway all this done it was assembled and lo once again the mighty vee twin roared into life and the twisty roads trembled as she and i danced upon the humbled tarmac(whoa there).Anyway the electrics and alarm have been tested and all seems well,so now its trial time and the problem(s) have been sorted then i think that i will take her on tour. thanks for the help!!!!

Hello, have just brought a solenoid and will fit this evening. The alarm seems to check out fine but my attentoin is now turned to the relay and i'm wondering if this may be the where the problem lays.Anyway i will let you know. thanks to yourself and everyone else for the feedback!

The thing is your probably right,i admitt [and you may laugh] i've ony done a 1000 miles on her so to truly say i've owned and ridden a G would be taking the p*** .And yes mine is pretty much like a female if she aint got a headache she'll blow your mind, but if she has [and this seems like most of the time] well need i say more.............One thing i forgot to mention is she has a datatool3 alarm ,now could this be causing any problems do you think?

Sense of adventure. My good fellow guzzifiend pushing ones V11 through the carpatii orientali with all those Wamphyri afoot.Ain't enough garlic on this planet![only joking].But this is my first guzzi and compared to all the other bikes i've ridden [all from Japan] this is the most unreliable.Yet its the best bike i've ridden, plus i can purchase a aprilla sl 1000 brand new for £49999 [04] talk about a rock and a hard place!
-
the thing is i've taken the starter and solenoid out of the bike and rigged it up to another battery.Once its energized nothing happens until i depress the the valve almost half way myself.Unfortunately i'm a very green with all this so be very gentle!

tue bikes done 100000 miles and its a 02 model

yo dude thanks for the reply the info would be really useful, but if i just buy a solenoid which i've managed to trace from motomecca @ 51quid will thi not sort the problem?
-
my solenoid is not working properly. after a day of stress i came to this conclusion.so is there anyone out there who can tell me if this is a common problem, and where i get one. I'm so distraught with my motorbike every time i've gone out i've had problems,eg starter and main fuse blowing at exeter services, home on a break down truck, asking a few geezers to give me a push as starter refused to work. Now i'm not being funny but this is my first guzzi,i'm going to ride europe in aug i really am thinking of tradeing in for something more reliable!
