Say Carl, did you paint the complete engine with the HD paint, or just touch up the peeling sections?
-
Its no big deal, I just touched mine up with the harley wrinkle black paint as stated here, and put in a warranty settlement claim with MG. I got the gorgeous carbon fiber kit for free, ( fairing, front fender, instrument mount, and starter cover) great deal as far as im concerned. the bubbles can be popped and its just a glossy black paint underneath. get your "freebies " from MG, dont worry too much about the paint, Ride on, and enjoy!

I would keep the 03(really an o2) wider rear wheel which allows better selection of high performance tires, better brake rotors not as likely to warp, additional bracing between frame and transmission,no transmission recall issues requiring trans. removal. I think some improvement was done to the front suspension, the clip ons mount on top of the triple clamp.looks prettyer with the blacked out stuff IMHO. the shifter spring is an easy fix for $20. with aftermarket spring, If your older bike was a green one I would say keep it, but since its silver, I say sell her, The other one is beautiful, although a biased opinion ( I have the same bike and love it)

I was looking at my shifter today and think a bolt on solution to moving the shifter peg back 1/2 to 3/4 inch could be fabricated pretty easy. I was thinking of a piece of flat steel about 1/8 inch thick about an inch long and about 3/8 inch wide you could drill a hole where the shifter peg goes and bolt this piece of strap to the bikes shifter facing rearward, then have a nut of the same thread as the shifter peg welded on to it , then screw on the shifter peg, it would then sit about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch rearward, you could also "rotate" the steel adaptor to adjust the height of the shift peg slightly. the beauty of this is that its all bolt on, and removable if you choose to go back to the stock peg location.

That sounds like a good plan, Steve. I wonder if anyone has tried the 7/8 inch tube clip on handlebar blanks that are available from lp racing? I think they come in 12 inches and a slightly longer length, are alloy, and can be filled with lead, etc, and also have a smooth(no threads inside end) Heck they are available anodized in different colors!

You say the view is not as good as the stock mirrors? or do you mean the view is not as good as the napoleons on the end of the bars? Because my view with the stock mirrors was very poor, all I could see was my upper arms, I had to keep moving my shoulders inward to see if my wifes modulating headlight was still behind me. ( I am a pretty big/ wide fellow though)

I put the barens mirrors on my bike today, fitted them by slightly sanding down the rubber sleeve to fit into the threaded bar ends. they look cool and the view to the rear is awesome, except for between 3K-4500 rpm where the image is fuzzy due to vibration. I also did not notice the reduction in vibes some folks have found. actually it seems there is slightly more tingling at the bars without the stock bar end weights and the napoleons installed. now im thinking of installing them in the brake/clutch lever pivot holes and re installing the stock bar end weights. my question to those of you that have the napoleons in the lever holes is.... how does the view to the rear compare to the stock mirrors? I cant try them without cutting off the mounting stem and want to make sure that the view is better than stock before I take the hack saw out. ( with the stockers all I saw in 75% of the mirror was my arms, especially if I had a jacket on. ) Thanks!

Thanks Dlaing, man that Centauro sure is an impressive looking machine, I wouldnt mind owning one of those instead of my magna to fill up the "power cruiser" slot in the garage, Ill bet they are pricey though.......

what brand peg /shifter setup is that?
-
Thanks pete , thats good information, someone here mentioned that the nut on the rear axle is the right size to put a wrench on and remove the manhole cover....
-
I dont have a digital camera at the moment, I think someone else hare had some pics of this setup, maybe they will chime in, If I get a hold of a digi cam I will shoot a couple of pics and post them.

whats the scoop on the mph riser kit? Price? do you need longer lines/cables? Thanks!

Does my v 11 naked come with the 40mm or 43 mm zocchis? its titled a 2003 but does not have the front crossover pipe, and it has the white faced instruments.

Hey Pete , you say after the first cleaning its not necessary to remove the sump for 50K miles? I thought that the screen in there had to be cleaned? and isnt the "manhole cover" easy to crossthread if you replace the filter through there? I dropped the pan on my first oil change , but if I can safely remove the filter without doing the pan off monkey-squat in the future , hey, thats ok with me!

well I received my evo footpeg relo. kit ( Thanks Greg, and MI) Its a high quality kit with excellent instructions including very clear pictures. Mounted up in a jiffy, afer adjusting my rear brake pedal down as far as it would go, Ive ridden the bike for 2 days now and can say "the operation was a success" in combination with my rubber topped cbr 600 footpegs, my feet/legs are real comfortable now. The reach to the controls is just right for my size 11 clodhoppers. longer rides should be much better even though the most ive gone as of yet is 125 miles in a stretch. I would have to hang my feet down to stretch my legs after about 40 miles before, not anymore. The kit only cost $30. shipped, I think its money well spent for sure. now to install some napoleon bar ends, so I can see behind me and to help with the vibes......

Do you have the 5/8 size on your bike? I just wanted to make sure it would fit before ordering it. It didnt specify if it was inside diameter or outside dimeter Thanks Docc.
-
every 4-5K miles is reasonable, you can easily do it yourself, its so simple. I believe Guzziology recommends every 4K miles, but Dave Richardson states you can stretch it to 5 once the bike "stabilizes" out, I think. Its actually fun to do ,and very satisfying to "Bond" with your Goose!

Great weather here in southeast Arizona ( 70 degrees F )took the nomad out for a 50 mile ride to Bisbee, The last true Hippie town in north America, HeHe . Where you can smell pot burning as you walk down the main street. I didnt take the V 11 because im in the middle of installing the evoluzione peg lowering kit. Rick

Michael, Im willing to bet that the pieces of dung who stole it didnt know what the hell it was. I will keep my eyes peeled. where I live (9 blocks from the Mexican border) any bike stolen goes right to Mexico. There they usually trade it for dope, or sell it real cheap to some dickwad that usually just runs the shit out of it till it breaks, then just dumps it in a backyard somewhere. alot of metric cruisers are stolen here, and a ton of quads. Im mexico they like banshees( bencheese) and shadows ( chados) Its disgusting!

I had the "problem" once on my 2002 and wrapped the pump and fuel line in the speed shop heat shield tape, and havent had a problem since, mounting the pump up front would be my last resort as I think it looks like shite. my rosso mandelo I used to have had this problem from time to time, but if you took a water drinking bottle with cool water and squirted the fuel pump and fuel line, it would fire right up. good to know if you are stranded outside a convenience store or gas station ....
-
Are you talking about putting the header wrap material around the bikes headpipes, or around the fuel line/fuel filter as an insulator?
-
Thanks! Those sound like exactly what i am looking for.

after servicing my rear caliper per the excellent instructions given by Ratchethack, all was fine for 100 miles or so, today I went for a short ride and when rolling to a stop, my rear brake is "moaning and groaning" again, I would like to replace the stock metallic pads for some softer compound that dont have metallic bits, and are easier on the rotor. do any of you here have any advice where I may purchase such brake pads? Ive checked all my catalogs, such as Dennis Kirk, Chaparral, JP Cycles and they dont list any pads for moto guzzis . Thanks !

Jaap, I thought the MG tankbag (made by marsee) had the moto guzzi eagle and the words embroidered on the sides....??
