  1. 77476[/snapback] Oh sh^#%t and to think we were both doing 200kmh a day ago and both of us on Sachs shocks, when will this paranoia end. I'm only new to this v11 game and didn't have any of these problems on my faithful 69 V7 Special or 85 T5 850 tourer, what have I let myself in for. BTW do V11 cutches rattle in 1 and 2nd gears at low speed overrun or should I have another dose of paranoia?
  2. sorry bout that, typical easternstatercentric reply, guess we often forget about that little add on to the federation we call WA, Tas has the same problem. I know how you must feel tho, having lived in WA on and off for 6 years.
  3. Hey Murray, we must have almost crossed paths. Went to Sydney 2 weekends ago with the Raptor Tamer specifically to test ride the Griso at Aitkens m/cycles. Hot day and only test rode for 28 kms along the freeway. Had been in love with the look ever since I saw it, so needless to say I was sufficently underwhelmed at my first test ride. Power wise nothing to compare to the v11. soft pliable and not at all exciting. Gear changes for all the hype were still solidly clunky, could even get them smoother on the v11. Riding position Ok but only for the rider, pillion would be kidney bashing after not too long methinks. I could be tempted if the power could be tweaked a little, make it a bit rawer abit less turbine smooth, abit less UJM. Hey the ride back home on all the back roads on the v11 made me feel so grateful I'd made the right choice originally. When the road is twisty you don't feel the wrists needling. Great ride just ask g.forrest. More to come during our luvly warm summer. Just luv that global warming.
  4. When it comes to 4 wheels it must be german. The Peepholes Wagen ist da only weg to fahren. Having travelled thru Africa in a 65 VW Kombi and making it, just, after 6months of horrendous roads, tracks, pistes or whatever I believed that this must be the only car for me. Mind you we had the motor out 6 times between Nairobi and Algeirs. Currently drive a 97 VW 2L transporter van and my wife a 2004 VW Golf TDi. What a great car, econimical fast, handles reeeely well and you only have to replace the turbo every 27K. Ahh well guess there had to be some sought of Guzzi link. A necessary evil here in Oz, when the suppermarket trolley wheels can't keep planted so well on the road as the v11 does when towing it home.
  5. Ahh sentiment is only for the feable minded, RT. Besides I'm sure the new owner would find the workshop stand useful as well ie. if he ever needs to work on it. Which he won't, sic. Onwards and upwards
  6. I downloaded a photo of the guzzi stand and took it to a friend rides a cali and is a bit handy with the tools. Knocked one up in a day with a bit of anything lying around, pipe and flat steel some old steel wheels, widened it a bit, tried the prototype snipped a bit here and there and voila. Could do the highland fling on the bike once it was mounted and doesn't even look like falling. Regards damaging the nuts or paint, just cut 2 x 1'' lengths of 3/4'' black poly pipe and nick the ends so they can be flaired up beside the paint work and just push onto nuts each time you need to use the jack. Protects and makes bike more stable. To get a bit of extra height, run bike onto 2 bits of 3/4"" ply, put bike lifter under first bit lift bike and pull out 2nd sheet, you've gained an extra 3/4"" and made it easier to remove back wheel. To remove front just put workshop jack under front of crankcaqse and lift front a bit, still remains stable and front wheel is easy to remove. hope this helps, morris
  7. Re the Dakar, terrible sad news about Andy Caldecott, a real legend here in Oz after having won the Australian Safari 4 times, the guy had huge talent and will indeed be sadly missed. Still a get off at 150km/h on those desert tracks doesn't bear thinking about. Having driven a '65 model VW Kombi thru the Sahara in 1974 and unexpectedly getting "air" from a blown away dune at 80km/h gives a small smattering of the conditions these guys have been hammering thru at ridiculous speeds. More power to them I say. If you live for the adventure be prepared to die for the adventure.
  8. Yeah I have always believed in Newtons Law of relativity. ie. the faster you travel the slower time passes. Well thats my excuse to the missus for speeding tickets. I just say I'm trying to stay younger, albeit marginally. morris sod
  9. Regarding the ashes,we are not sore losers, we just like to do things diferently. Us aussies have decided to join the international team selling baseball bats and generating a little more work for the panel beaters. We are not a racist country so I don't want to hear comments to that effect. Its just a few likely lads letting off steam. Our beachside suburbs were becoming too congested with cars parking everywhere, now there should be more room for guzzis. Molotov cocktails seized as police step up patrols Friday Dec 16 08:00 AEDT By ninemsn staff Sydney police seized molotov cocktails and arrested 19 people overnight in the fifth straight night of patrols since race-fuelled mob violence erupted. The new arrests come amid uncomfirmed reports this morning that up to 30 car and busloads of Lebanese, Serb, Italian and Greek gangs from Melbourne are on their way to Sydney for a repeat of last Sunday's race riot in Cronulla, Nine Network News said. Perhaps they could have used Harleys as mobile molotov cocktails
  10. I've recently bought a 01 v11 sport mandello rosso with the candy apple red paint work, or coke can colour. The tappet covers had been resprayed plus lambchops with a less than italian red paint. Is there any way of getting hold of the Guzzi paint code for that model?
  11. Thanks fot he vote on the Stradas, Keith, I'm due for a rear update and was looking for sojmething between sport and touring. Am running Pirelli Dragons at the moment, good tyre for grip and handling but a bit short on life. I'll give them a whirl
  12. Hi guys, I have recently acquired a v11 mandello rosso#201 and the tappet covers and porkchops have been painted a less than italian racing red colour and I too would like to get them poder coated or at least backe to the Coke can colour of the tank. However my local auto crash repairer is having trouble getting a match on the paint colour. QUESTION is there anyone out there who might know the guzzi paint code for the candy apple red of the tank, by any chance.???? Thanks Morris sod
  13. Hi guys, I'm new to the site, but have been coerced, cajoled, threatened and even told I could borrow a Harley for a week, if i posted something on this great site. I've beed like a kid in the candy shop looking at all the great forums, and have neglected to post, so here goes. I'm one of those old geezers of 50 plus who shares a town with a V11 Scura and a and an Cagiva Xtra raptor. I have just added the Coke can to the group, as one raptor tamer puts it, and the others scurry to put on sunnies. This number #201 Mandello Rosso V11 sport is very bright in the sun, even with toned down tappet covers. My update was from avery faithful old friend a '85 T5 Guzz that had carried me many a reliable mile and still will. She unfortunatly had a penchance for chewing clutch bosses Until now I hadn't realised how a bike can make the hairs on my testicles erect, well this one does it for me. Smooth, powerful, planted and fun, so much fun. As someone asked me recently, "have I read my birth certificate lately" why? Am not a stranger to the delight of Guzzidom, owned a 1969 V7 Special, 750, 5th to be imported into Australia, terrific touring machine until it met with a mobile chicane in the form of Valiant sedan, spinning sideways down the wet road in front of me. Anyway thanks for the forum, its good news for Guzzisti Morris Sod
