  1. does anyone have the part number for the harley rectifier that will work with a 2001 v11 sport?
  2. It's alive...... Just changed the switch today and I have neutral again. They must have defeated the switch or swapped it with a defective unit. Loving it. I can warm it up without being on the bike - 10 long years. Thanks all.
  3. i just purchased the neutral switch from mg cycle. i will find out if it is the switch by the end of the week.
  4. what is the part number for the neutral switch? where can i buy one online. nearest dealer is 45 miles away even living in la, ca.
  5. i was able to ground the wire from the neutral switch and the neutral light came on. i then removed he neutral switch and it appears fine. i then plug the wire to the switch and ground it with the plunger pushed in and the key on but no green light. does this mean that they did something to the neutral switch or something internally? do i need a new neutral switch or do i need to do something behind the plate? i think i can rule out the relay as a culprit?
  6. when i first bought my 2001 v11 new, i was having problem with the false neutral. took it to orange county motorsport and they told me that they can disconnect the neutral something completely or put two wires together but the downside would be that i cannot start the bike with the kickstand down. i agreed but now would like to put it back to its original state. what did they disconnect or connect? i cannot find any loose wiring. the neutral light has not come on in 9 years.
  7. How about $100 for the rear wheel and $50 for the exhaust cans. Is the wheel the larger width? I have a 2001 with the 4.5" rear.

  8. I purchased a set of fbf high compression pistons on ebay. I was going to install them tomorrow but I saw a pic from helicopter jim's installation and they appear to be different. My pistons looks like the ones on the fbf site. Helicopter jim's pistons were more angular or sloped on the top. Any info would be appreciated. Can I still use it? It would suck if I can't..
  9. I am going to install the pistons in the next two weeks. With two young kids, I am having trouble finding time to install them in one sitting. I will try and install one cylinder at atime. Wish me luck.
  10. Does anyone have instructions on how to install FBF high compression pistons. I bought them on EBAY but they did not come with intructions. If you have a set of instructions, please email them to me at hgravelpha@aol.com or fax to 562-463-1336. How hard was it to install? How long did it take? Any tricks that you had to do to make it fit? Do I have to do anything after the installation - timing - adjustments This a mod that I really wanted to do for years, so please don't spoil it for me with negative remarks. Oh yeah, my bike is a 2001 V11. Thanks, Thang
  11. Thanks Greg, I'll order it on Monday through your company. Is this the part number for the angle or both the cable and the angle. If separate I would like to order both.
  12. Speedo went down yesterday. Look at the angle drive that connects the speedo cable to the transmission on a 2001 model - there is a hole and no innerts. Guess it fell off while I was riding. What do I need to buy- the speedo cable and the angle drive? Are they one unit? Where can I get one of these? My dealer does not have one in stock and does not know if a later unit will work with the 2001 model. I have the white Veglia speedo. I do not want to change to the black speedo. Any hints will help. Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys for the info. I will check it this weekend. If not, I will hunt for a used white face Veglia Tach.
  14. It is a 2001 v11 sport with the Veglia (white face) tach.
  15. My tach failed last week. It will only rev up to 2000 rpm. I took it apart and JB Weld the studs but to no avail. I placed the red/black to +, black to ground, and black yellow to 1 (as listed on the tach casing). I did not see any unsoldered wiring inside the tach. The tach now will not do anything - not even reving up to 2000 RPM. Is there another ground, fuse, anything else I need to check. Any info will be helpful.
  16. Docc, I'm sorry about not getting the springs back to you. My supplier never did return them. I thought that I would have returned the new made to order springs to you. I will see if I can get a set around here to send them back to you. I will also check with a new spring supplier for McMaster-Carr to see if they can manufacture a heat treated high tensile steel spring for us. I'm currently in Boston but will be back in my office in 10 days. I will have an answer for you guys in 2 weeks. I know a person locally with a set to send to my supplier. I'm not sure how or what to measure on the spring to determine if it is 15 or 16 mm. What is the good size for the boss? Again, if I can have a small batch made and the cost is minimal, I will send it to anybody with this problem for free with the stipulation that the spring provider nor myself will be liable for any future problem in this area. Thang
  17. Have fun with your new ride.
  18. Nogbag, now your defending something like sexism. Maybe you're just one of those chubby chasers. You Brits are all the same - well just to be fair - same = you all have bad teeth (a common theme).
  19. Lets try sexism. Women - we don't need no stinking women on this tread. We want to be "free" to express ourselves with no long lasting affects. If you want a woman opinion on motorcycling or what not, go to Oprah's website. This is a male dominated site (beside Dlaing{more banter }) and I would like it to stay that way. If Christel posted a picture of herself and it shows that she was a heffer (5ft 1 in and 275 pounds), I guaranteed you that none of you bastards will offer anymore suggestions on how she should modify her "pipes". Stoking the fire...... ABBA Rocks....
  20. Oh crap, I totally forgot about ABBA. You were right.
  21. Dumb ass Swedes - they didn't know if they were Nazis or ........ Japs/Nazis/Swedes - same shit - different continents. Tell me the last thing that a Swede have contributed to the advancement of man (besides the Swedish Bikini Team). Volvo and Saab - not very efficient companies - now own by not very efficient American companies I don't know where I'm going with this but I wanted to contribute to this silliness.
  22. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I ride every day from 1985 to 2001 (birth of my daughter). I crossed this great country twice on a Ducati F1b. I've done 1000 mile days on a GSXR. I ride for fun, commute, in the rain, in the snow once or twice, on black ice, etc etc.... But it all started for me with speed and the occasion adrenaline rush. Now I just ride 3-4 days a week to sooth my soul and the weekend I spend with my family. Again, it is not about the type of bike that you can afford or the style of riding you do ---- it is just about motorcycling and its affect on our ............(you fill in the blank).
  23. I don't know why or what made us want to be on a motorcycle but for me it was speed and the thrill of being on something that made me excited everytime I sat on it. It started with a Japanese Bike (86 GSXR-750) and after 20 years of riding everything of all makes, I'm just excited to get on any bike. You guys are crititcizing bikes that are made in the US, Europe, and Japan. It is silly really, you all forgotten how you longed for some bike when you first thought that you wanted to ride. You browsed through all the magazines available and visited the dealers multiple times wishing one day soon your minimum wage job will get you the down payment for this thing. After the dream came true, it was definitely worth the wait. I don't think we all started on a Guzzi but we all should keep an open mind on what riding really means. Yeah you are not a "drag racer" but we all know why we ride.........it all started with SPEED and the Japanese bike rules in this arena. All other BS answers on why we ride now should remind us why we started riding in gthe first place. Get off your high horse and just pick a bike or bikes and have fun with it. Shit this subject is tiring, Just f*&&&ing ride or get off. Regards, Cliche
  24. It was Thang (not Truong) from LA but it's no big deal. I had a great time. It was a little cold but not too bad. I arrived in the central coast fairly early and had a chance to ride some of the better roads. It was exciting and therapeutic. I was rained on for less than 30 minutes for the entire trip/day. Thanks Mark for setting this all up. Hope we have another one of these soon. It was good to meet Lex again and Tod Rafferty for the first time. Good stories. 536 miles round trip - great one day excursion. Thang
