    tekno bags

Where can I find some Tekno bags for my friends Lemans. I have them on mine, but not sure where they came from or if they're still being made. Thanks, -Kevin
  2. I bought the feeler gauge there myself over a year ago, but had no issues. I felt the same way you did after the helpful "how to's" on the sight. I'm sorry to hear about your frustration and thanks for the heads up.
  3. I had the bike a year before any of the latest mods and put on a good bit of miles through more twisties than some do in a lifetime. My knees ached and my right hand always got the tinglies so bad it went numb after 20 minutes. I had Mistral cans that just didn't sound right to me and made things more vibrant than I liked as well. I considered selling it early this year because I drove my little Breva way more unless I just wanted more power for that brief jaunt into the rural roadways. I put the stock cans back on, put the footpegs to save my knees and pelvis (crotch), and put on a set of hefty bar ends, and it's a whole different bike. Smooth and comfortable. I do prefer things stock as far as how it's mechanically engineered, but I personally needed help with the ergos. Actually...... now I won't sell it for anything, as opposed to those who do. Just wanting to help those out who might not know better and are new to the frey. The Matra footpegs can be found under Technical Topics I believe, or do a search on Footpeg mods.
  4. Just wanted to share my thoughts about some mods I feel are essential for comfort on the Lemans: 1. Heavy bar ends (approx. $55) 2. bar risers (2" preferably) ($?) 3. MRA windscreen ($99) 4. Matra footpeg mod. (Appox. $425) I can't believe how this bike has changed in the past year as far as comfort. I was lucky enough to purchase my Lemans with an MRA windscreen and risers already installed, but with the addition of the Matra footpegs and MI bar ends recently, this bike is a dream machine that's as smooth as silk. I helped a friend into a Lemans recently that has no updated windscreen, no risers, and MI footpeg mod.. He does have the MI bar ends. He is ordering the MRA windscreen and trying to find a capable bar riser. He is also thinking about gaining a couple more inches of forwardness through the purchase of Matra peg mod. This peg mod is incredible I'll tell you. If anyone is looking for pure comfort and smoothness, these mods together will transform your Lemans into one incredible comfort machine. I drove the Norge recently, and wouldn't think of trading my Lemans for it straight up now that it's been sorted. I consider my Lemans a sport-touring bike now since I'm much more upright and have no pressure on my palms. It also has a great fairing and windscreen that deflects most turbulance, both allowing for long days of eating miles. It still has all the sport it ever did...although it actually handles better to have weight more centered or actually forward than stock with the footpeg mod. I can throw it around pretty easily now compared to stock. Just wanted to let folks know what I have found since ownership and now that I can directly compare it to another Lemans. These are relatively cheap mods for what you get in return!
  5. John, Are you talking about bar risers or extentions? This mod you did on the footpegs has changed our Lemans so much I can't stay off it. I just helped my friend into a Lemans as well. It had the other footpeg mod already done...and it doesn't compare. He now needs bar risers! Your mod is simply brilliant and would HIGHLY recommend it for everyone, no matter their leg length.
  6. Does your idle increase with the clutch out? Picked up a friends '02 last night and noticed how it was less noisy than my stock '03. I put it in neutral when getting home to adjust the idle up, and the engine started racing (before adjusting)...pulled in clutch, revs back down... out, back up. Weird. Also, the engine makes more noise when clutch is out...tappy tappy. So different than mine...so I'm suspecting something is different or needs adjusting. Will try to find out if the clutch was swapped out by paperwork by the first owner. The second owner only put 500 miles on it and doesn't know much what the first owner did. My clutch plates do rattle more than his for sure when the clutch is engaged, but everything is silenced when clutch is out and in neutral. My revs stay the same either way at 1100.
  7. Yes I realize, but I'm looking at the glass as half-full... you are pointing out that it is half empty. Some like the old boss Some like the new boss I'd prefer for no boss It's all such a toss Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
  8. OK...don't flog me... but I put original cans back on the bike. It had Mistral aluminum on it when purchased a year ago. We just got the originals back a couple weeks ago and I wanted to try it since I wanted a bit more subtle sound out of it. My observations are: A bit less low end untill just over 4000 rpm...then she flies. shifts retakes are smoother (not as grabby). I think this is due to lower rpm being diminished, and this is a result. I seem to want to ride it harder now actually. Maybe because it sounds like it's working less hard or maybe I just like getting into the upper power band. It seems smoother overall, not even torque-wise, just more refined. I do feel less vibes around 5000 rpm, even on the shifter lever that would really vibrate from 4700 on up on shifts. I didn't like that feel on the foot when I pushed up on it. I may have lost a couple of horses, but I like the ride quality a lot better and it's less annoying on the ears. It sounds more like a Mustang now and less like a Lamborghini. American muscle is fine by me.
  9. Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure things were fine. Now I know. I have heard the big Breva and (most recently) the Griso and could not beliee how quiet those bikes are from valve train clacking. We got 27000 miles off first spring and when opened up, it had 15mm boss and newer spring (if there is such a thing). The boss was replaced since they pre-ordered it prior to investigating. This is fine since old boss showed slight impression of wear in one spot. It seems to correspond to where the spring failed, so maybe the new boss will remedy it anyhow.
  10. The new local Guzzi shop had our Lemans in recently for a shift spring. When my wife went to pick it up they told her it badly needed a valve adjustment. It makes a good bit of clacking for sure, but thought this was normal since having it. Have I just been ignoring the issue? I adjusted 4000 miles ago for my first time. They have only heard the new Guzzi's, so that's their reference. Are the newer Guzzi's quieter? It runs fine but don't want issues if they're too loose.
  11. It is indeed a 15mm boss and newer looking spring (if there ever was an update to it along the way). Evidently there was another spring at some point and that also was updated (looks different anyhow). The spring let go somewhere in the middle, not the dogleg. We are looking to see if there is some other way to remedy this before they put it together tomorrow with OEM spring. So far the shop and I have no ideas. Anyone have an idea before tomorrow? Thanks!
  12. I'm thinking I have the wrong boss, but not sure yet. Do these things generally break with the right boss size (15mm)? It's at the shop and we ordered a new boss so it's there when it's torn apart.
  13. Just happened after 27000 miles. Spring let go and stuck in first. Luckily it was the first ride since getting home from our 1800 mile jaunt around WV, KY,NC,SC the 6 days before. I brought a spring and directions along in case. Wasn't sure with my '03 if I had the wrong boss...now I know.
  14. Look at the "Technical Topics" section of the forum for all the info you need. John is "Ryland" and he has recently made this mod. He did it for himself first and others chimed in for him to possibly produce a set for them. He did the legwork necessary for casting, etc. and the first sets have made there way to those of us on the top of the list. There are pics showing the mod. I highly recommend everyone interested in comfort look at this topic. I did many twisties today and there are no changes in performance, but much difference in comfort. I have a 34+ inseam so I really needed relief. It's amazing what 5 inches forward and a bit lower do for comfort. If you want to quickly see where they sit, the right peg is approximately in the same place as your brake lever (end) currently sits (from what I remember). They look normal on the bike and are VERY well engineered.
  15. Just thought I'd post this here as well as on Technical Topics (because I feel strongly about it): Hey John, Got the pegs and levers installed Thursday. Finally rode it this morning and, OH MY... what a difference! First, I want to tell everyone that these things are first-rate as far as casting and engineering goes. Everything is supplied and the directions are clear. It did take a bit of fanagling to get into the tight spaces that are required for install, but the time is worth it. Here are my comments: The obvious...knee position is greatly relieved. Pressure on the palms is greatly improved and almost non-exhistent. Crotch is not pressed against the tank as before. The pelvis is not tilted forward, but more neutral. The shifts seem to be more exacting. I don't know if it's the leverage difference or what, but it feels more solid and I'm hitting less false neutrals. If this position could be compared to anything, it would be my Breva 750, but with a bit more aggressive forward lean. I couldn't be more happy with this mod and think it is probably the single most effective mod for the Lemans. I now do not have to consider a seat change or selling the bike altogether. For those interested for their own comfort, do yourself a favor and consider this. For the price he's offering these at and the precision craftsmanship, you won't be sorry. John is also a man of his word, and I appreciate that. Thanks John. -Kevin

    750s

    Good choice!!
  18. Thanks guys for all the input. I think it is a combination of wear and balance. It feels much more stable while cornering as well. I realize flat spots and wear in general will highly affect lean from a fluidity aspect. It's the cats meow now in all respects. I'm looking forward to my trip down to through the Blue Ridge in a couple weeks. Loads of twisties!
  19. Just got new rubber on the front and rear and took a long ride today. WOW...what a difference with smoothness and vibration. I had them grease the shaft when the rear came off, but I would assume that won't cut vibration at all. Put Pirelli Diablo's on. Formerly had mismatched front and rear (Dunlop rear and Metzler front). Not certain why things are SOOOO much smoother now, other than maybe they were way out of balance before (front especially). My right hand would always go numb after a short while, and no issues today. I'm really liking this bike now. I was almost considering to sell since it felt so industrial and rough compared to my Breva 750. I had to be "in the mood" to drive it, however, this thing is amazingly smooth now and a joy to run. It's a good day! Anyones thoughts on why it's so much smoother would be appreciated? I've only had this thing one year and put one new rear on before.
  20. Thanks OBND, I may just open her up and take a gander. The wife and I are going southward and would like peace-of-mind along our journey. We have a new Guzzi shop here in GR, but they haven't wrenched on Guzzi's yet, so I hope they come up to speed. I've heard Detroit Euro. are good, just a ways to go for me, and a sh*!!y drive to boot. -Kev
  21. Solution: In case of breakage of the pawl spring A in vehicles with frame numbers before KT111435 - KS112350 My frame no. is KTC0033M111153 I'm guessing I have the wrong sized boss? Am I reading my numbers right? It's an '03 with 26000 miles and no prob's. I thought I was OK...now not sure. Thanks
  22. The fairing on the Lemans is really good in my estimation. You can go all day at 80 mph and your comfortable. If things should get really turbulant or you want a break from wind altogether, you can simply rest down on your legs with your forearms and get down under the fairing and become one with the bike. It's all overtop of you now and it's really sweet. Now pop it up to the dollar mark and watch the crowd disappear behind you. It's good in pouring rain under there as well. I have a bikini on my little Breva and it's adequate up to 60-65mph, then hang on.
  23. Just sent out payment John...thanks! Just hope to get into the first batch since I have to go for a longish trip through the Blue Ridge in Middle-late May. So many twisties...so much discomfort! Thanks for putting yourself out there John. I'll help you try to get your production numbers up any way I can. -Kev
  24. I thought that was the RPM sensor. Is that synonymous with timing sensor? I've done both Breva 750's with silicon and they seem to be pretty good now. The wife's was blowing oil out when we caught it. She said "look at my Stitch...it's caked with oil." Left head had oil all over it and running down left side of bike. Found the culprit and got to mine before it gave me fits.
  25. Some of us just add a bit more oil to the large sump so that if there is sloppage of the oil it won't starve the engine. I have never seen the oil light, however, I'm pretty easy on this thing, except for the time some teens decided to drag race me from a light in there Ford Escort. They beat the piss out of it which surprised me, so I layed into the throttle and damn near had the wheel off the ground on shift changes. I was out in front by second gear, and need I say more. I think they just wanted to hear the motor run up since I came up on them at idle to the light with my engine purring with the Mistral cans. Do you fault them?
