  1. While everything is apart you should also dig into the cush drive and do the drilling mods to the rubbers. Sure did make a difference on mine.

Dennis.................. wondering if all of oz is as whacky as this lot. I'd die of a terminal grin should I ever visit!

  2. Nothing to do but tear her apart nige and have a look. Movement described in mm can't be good.

I bet the needle bearing is dry and shot. I'd almost bet one or both wheel bearings will need replacement too.

    Hope it isn't any worse.

    Dennis.

  3. There are only a few good Guzzi dealers around the US so you might have a hard time finding reliable local service.

Ha! Little more than 1 hour after posting this I learn that there is a new Guzzi dealer less than 50 miles from my door. Tri Sports has been in business for quite a few years selling Hon/Kaw/Suz and recently added Piaggio stuff including Aprilia and now Moto Guzzi. Hope they do well.

  4. Hi jolly and welcome in.

There are a number of well documented and for the most part, easily overcome issues with most all of the V11s. If you were to get one with more than 10,000 miles or so on the clock, most of the issues will have been already resolved. If not, a few evenings spent using the search function here in this forum should give you a pretty good picture of what to expect. If you are a Guzzi fan, none of them would discourage you from taking the leap.

Plenty of folks here use the V11 for serious touring duty. Some would argue it isn't well suited, others think it the dog's balls. Some, including myself, have found it to be the most comfortable bike, in stock form, they have ever ridden. Most make minor mods to adjust the ergonomics to suit.

What part of this world do you live in? There are only a few good Guzzi dealers around the US so you might have a hard time finding reliable local service. If you are not up to doing your own work, you might want to be looking for something else.

You need to find a V11 and try it on yourself. Have fun!

  5. Rumours has it it's a Hawker Genesis in disguise. The Hawker Odyssey is theoretically better suited for motorcycles, but I've heard of many Spark & Genesis batteries lasting forever.

My '01 Sparker finally gave up this year. The new Oddyssey looks EXACTLY like the Sparker except for the color. Hard to imagine they are not one and the same.

  6. A friend of mine was working on this movie and told me several months ago that they had gotten in two brand new Grisos (Grisi?) to be "used" in the movie. Both were slated to be crashed in the filming and then returned to MG USA. I was asked not to mention it online. He later had some conflicts with the film company and quit.

  7. Thanks Richard. It's not a hard thump when I push the shaft back in, so you're probably right, I put too much grease in.

So onto dumb question number two-- how do I get the grease out?

    John

You might try removing the zerk fitting and see if the grease will scooge out through the threaded hole. Otherwise, pull it apart and scoop it out.

  8. For what it is worth.................. I'd like to add another  for doing this simple mod to your cush drive. A little heat on the six buttonhead screws worked like a charm and they all came out without damage. I was lucky and the drive plate came out with little fuss as well. Since I'm not the most petite rider in the world, I decided to drill and reuse all six pairs of rubbers, well greased.

Managed to get a real ride in this morning and difference is quite apparent shifting up and down.

    Try it, you'll like it!

  9. S100.

+1 Just used it yesterday. Not sure what it would do (if anything other than clean) the Ti cans. I use it primarily on the engine/drivetrain and to rid bodywork of baked on bugs. Spray on cool engine, let it sit a few minutes (don't want it to dry), and rinse off. I usually take a small, stiff paintbrush and scrub a little on the really bad spots before rinsing.
