  1. Gary is there a thread that explains this. Thanks, Michael
  2. Hi RX, Just wondering what you changed.I'm not too impressed with the amount of light my Scura puts out on backroads.I'm thinkin about trying LED as some suggested on an eletrical thread I had started. Thanks, Michael http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9075
  3. Oh cool. Thanks,I'll have to check them out. Alex,Ive tried all types of combinations.including what you describe. In my 30+ years riding in NEW YORK CITY,100s of thousands of miles under my iron butt, countless trips and tours of the US(BIG COUNTRY,LOTS OF CLIMATE CHANGES) and Europe ,I find the vests work the best in cold conditions(under40F). Look this discussion has been about what each of us would like to see in the future for Guzzi.I didn't or wouldn't dare question or comment negativley on what other people would like or prefer. What purpose does this serve?Lets all throw in are suggestions and maybe MG will hear us and give us what we ALL want.Look the V11 and soon to be V12 are roadsters. Not track bikes.Does offering touring accessories for those who want them diminish the sporty-ness of the basic model?"You know,Guzzi shouldn't have offered a bikini fairing,tank/tail bags and higher bars on some of the models ,because thats what old men .Not ,TRUE ,Guzzi lovers".Bla ,bla,bla,,..BS Thats what I ,and I'm sure most of us,love about them.Sporty ,realitvly comfortable and easy to work on,and oh,...SEXY!!!.I want to continue in this tradition, while also looking to the future and improving with each model. This is the only way Guzzi will be able to compete..To say "well the Guzzi electrical output is weak so dont use vests"is unacceptable to me.The new V12 have a 550 output alt, seemingly improved QC on the later Brevas.Steps in the right direction.Lets keep the pressure on them to produce a quality bike that has character. We all win. Plus I dont want to go the way of Ducati now that their quality and service intervals have improved drastically! PS I still want my V12 to look like a MGS!!
  4. Ah,,,....er ....It gets a little cold in the Northeast in winter.Ride year round as long as there's no ice on road.Dont know if youve ever sport-toured on your bike ,but you would appreciate heated grips as many of our other members do ..On an early morning run at 11 thousand feet on a mountain pass around freezing point you would too. To me riding twisty roads I don't know or having been on before gets my blood flowing.Riding the same the roads year in and out I find pretty boring. You do go farther than a few miles and or hours from your house right? I did say that I wish they would offer it as an OPTION,you don't have to buy it.Never put up any of my bikes for winter as they always get ridden, call me crazy I prefer to RIDE my bike over working on it.I'm funny like that, bla bla bla Hope this answers you question.
  5. Yes,Yes,Yes.That Breva tank and air duct thingie on the V12 is FUGLY as all HELL!! Give us a V12,MGS half-fairing,higher electrical output for accessories, more touring toys, hard bags, heated grips, ets. Ring the freakin thing out before it leaves the factory,so places like this don't have to exsist so we have to fix our own problems that seem to ALWAYS show up.Wouldn't be great if we could just complain about color choices and availibility and not have to talk about, bad electrics, exploding clutches, unavailable parts,MG-MGUSA ignoring us. Just my 3 pence. If the V12 is supposed to be sexy,my eyes are not 20/20 anymore!
  6. Gary,Did you replace cooler and hoses with stock Guzzi parts?Inquiring Scura owner wants to know. Thanks, MZ
  7. Mine doesn't seem to work either. Can't move it at all.I would ass-ume that there should be some play like a standard choke cable.Haven't had a chance to investigate further as it starts fine even in cooler weather.Broken cable? Is this a common problem?
  8. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the help.I got it open by gaining access to the latch mount through the rear fender,Removed the half fender underneath, loosed the nuts holding the latch mount from underneath and the latch gave loose right away! Thanks, Another fix for all! Michael
  9. Thanks Jaap, Tried that. For about a hour I tried all kinds of wiggles, dancing, swearing at the country of my ancestors(Italy)and with hat in hand I return to the forum looking for someone who is much smarter than me,or less dummerer, has had a similar problemn and had found a fixthanks, Michael
  10. Hey Guys, Anyone got a suggestion bout gettin the seat off when stuck?Did see the posts about seat/fast idle swap after the fact.(my fast idle lever has never worked, but figured I would fix when it starts getting cold,....now) Will do the swap once I get the damm thing off.Doesn't seem like there's any tension when I put key in release position(rearward?).Should there be?On all my other bikes(Hondas)you do feel the stopper putting pressure on the spring. Thanks, Michael
  11. Hi Guys, I would be riding back roads,no stop'n'go city type traffic.so the revs will be above 3-4k most of the time.I also probably won't be riding below freezing,so I won't have the run the thermals very high, just to take the chill out of early mornings, after sunset situations. If I went the HID route you think I'll be OK? Thanks, Michael
  12. Got the Ti pipes, but the instructions read as, Connect PC(Mac Guy!) withe MDST(diagnosys program) and vacumeter Disconnect the stick(?!)from the right throttle body Tune(on the right throttle body)the throttle potentiometer till you reach 2.9+/-0.1 degree(465 mv +/- 5 mv) My questions are, Is this neccessary Where do I get the MDST what kind of vacumeter(I'm a assuming a meter that checks vacume pressure) do you reccomend and where do you connect it to? What's a stick? Sorry bout my mechanical ignorance, have done a lot of my own maintenance on past bike but not motor, valve, carb stuff. Thanks, Michael
  13. Ugh!!A Breva it is,a Sexy V11 it is not!I'm sure reliability and performance will be improved, but I'll hold on to my Scura till they make something that looks like a classic GUZZI. Michael
  14. Hi Guys, I want to run in order of importance, Aux lights ala PIAA's Heated grips, Heated vest, Can I? What have you guys been able to run safely without maxing electr ical system? 02 Scura, with relays replaced. Thanks, Michael
  15. I have the Converti bars on my 919 and love them but they are ugly!I have the MPH risers on my Scura, they work and look great. Michael
  16. You should talk to Todd at MPH.I was in Houston and stopped in to meet them.He showed me the M4 pipes which have a nicer looking carbon fiber and they will remove the ugly M4 badges for you.I wanted a genuine MG part otherwise I would have bought the M4s.He may have a set of the MG Tis. Michael
  17. Thanks John, I bought the Moto Int pipes on ebay.I'll try them without the race ECU and see what happens.Keep you all posted Thanks for the info! Michael Ride Safe, but always have Fun!!
  18. Wow,Gary, what an awsome offer!I am in NYC/upstate so I can't visit ya but I will look through the manual, the previous owner included it on CD, and maybe have a go at it after the cold weather sets in.Would be a nice winter project.I'm at Yankee stadium now for game.workin for ESPN,will be in Mo-town tomorrow.Go Tigers!! Thanks, Michael
  19. Hi Gary, Iv'e had the the opposite luck with Japanese bikes.about 15 or so bikes ,200K miles + and NO failures.First Guzzi and it has a clutch that could explode,a couple of recalls and a couple small leaks(I'll give Guzzi the benefit of the doubt on the leaks and blame the previous owner for lack of attention). I'm not complaining ,just stating fact I guess our luck, good or bad, is just that,...Luck! Took the Scura for a ride in the mountains near my house in the Catskills,Upstate New York .Perfect fall day.Warm, great roads, beautifull foliage. And a Guzzi sweetly humming...With one ear to the clutch..Best damm handling bike Iv'e owned. Life is good. Has anyone had a reputable shop do the swap, and what was the bill?Labor, hours? seems like the Ram replacement single plate kit goes for about $500.00 for the part. Thanks, Michael
  20. It scares me,again I come from the Japanese world.sounds like a pistons about to blow through the case!EEEE!!! Now if we could only get a ST1100 motor(transverse mounted V-4) in a V11 frame, let it breath a little, exhaust, tune, etc.we would have one hell of a bike.Wish the Italians would get some Japanese engineers on their design team before they released their rolling art,to sign off on reliability issuses and they would be a HUGE success .Most people wont stand for things like, although rare, an exploding clutch. I took my Scura out for my first thrash, and loved it.Passing on a double yellow has never been easier. She sure is SEXY!!
  21. Richard,does is make noise,er,..ah ,..Musica? Michael
  22. Hi Guys, Great info thanks! I try to think of the Guzzi,I come from the reliable world of Japanese bikes,is like an italian woman.Sexy and in need of regular attention, but worth the trouble. I had heard that they tended to be loud, but not from the forum, which I believe is a great source, despite are many different opinions. The bike has under 10k miles, was well cared for. Who makes and aftermark clutch for her? What does it invole to replace, time, cost, aggravation? Thanks again!! Michael
  23. Hi, Guzzi Nubie here. Bought an 02 Scura with pawling spring replaced. There is a lot of knocking/clanging noise from from trannnie/clutch area.Goes away when I pull in clutch or start rolling. Is this normal? Please assume I know nothing of Guzzi mechanics and I won't be insulted by explaining things like I'm a three year old!. Thanks, Michael
