  1. Brilliant! Duct tape, even! Well done and so simple, I should be able to do it ( when the time comes ). Thanks.
  2. That looks like a fun project. I hope to take on something like that one day. Have fun and keep us posted.

    Stelvio

Not really liking that in red and silver. Maybe yes in all black or grey, with wheels like the first photo. Initial photos of the Griso and Norge didn't compare to how much better the bikes look in person. Hopefully, that's the case with the Stelvio.
  4. Thanks. I believe mine's the heavy duty version of the faring mount. I havent looked inside the bucket, thinking the connection on the outside was where the relay kit connection attached. Aha! Running light! And I'll look again but the wiring harness connector doesn't appear to match up with the relay connector. Most likely me making it harder than it needs to be. Appreciate the help. cycdude6, Here's to hanging in there, giving the dealer a shot and using the help from the fine folks here. Most of my bike "problems" seem to be of my own doing.
  5. I bought one of the Eastern Beaver relay kits after reading earlier threads. Maybe I missed some details and bought the wrong one - the connectors don't match what I see on my LeMans headlight or harness. If I remember correctly, it was the H4 Heavy Duty Single Headlight Relay Kits ( it's at the house ). Tom M, which kit did you use? I'm more plug and pray on this one! Thanks.
  6. Finally got it mounted a couple weeks ago. Adjusted switchgear a bit. I was concerned about the thing shaking around too much. No worries - feels solid, steady. Now I have a better idea where I am and how fast I'm really going. Great stuff.
  7. Thanks for that, Gio. I'll make a few modifications.
  8. If possible, try adjusting the faring so the top tilts back a bit more. Mr Field is more knowledgeable, but maybe washers between the fairing and the lower mount might be worth trying. A higher screen can cause more turbulence between your helmet and the screen. A lowered screen just may help. Phil_P mentions holes at the bottom. Tilting the bottom forward may also help with the airflow at the bottom. My application is different on a LeMans, but it may apply to the Rosso. PO had an MRA installed. Noisy and turbulent. I tried the Saeng edging, tried the Laminar lip, tried the Gustaffsen ( sp? ) screen. Nope to all three. Then put the original screen on. In my case lower is better. Might try one of these, also: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/windjammer/...ind-blocker.htm Just trying to help with the noise. It was frustrating for me for a while.
  9. Sometimes, angling back helps, also. Good luck!
  10. Hi. I have a Roadgear tank bag. Don't remember right now if it's SL761 or SL767. I also have one of their tail bags, the Hemi winter jacket, as well as mesh and winter gloves. All quality stuff. The only "problem" I have with the tank bag is that the two forward straps don't seem to be far enough apart, attached so they run too straight ahead and not angled to the side. It is secure and all, but there is the slightest wobble side to side, probably because I have it crammed full of things I just know I'm going to need one day. It may also be because of the slightly raised tank pad on the LeMans. I like it and it will last a long time. I'm pleased with Roadgear, both the merchandise and top-notch customer service.
  11. I'd be POd if I had bought a "new" bike and couldn't ride it. Others much more eloquent than I have given some great advice. It's an Italian bike - some things you have to deal with to own one. Some more than others. Best of luck in whatever path you take leaving Guzzi.
  12. Todd, I noticed those slip-ons on your site. Very nice, with the tastefully done red stripe. As much as I'm enjoying all the excitement over the new engine, I may be in the market for one of those slow, old-fashioned 4V Grisos that will likely be sold. Exciting times for MG.
  13. I like the P51 comparison. Beautiful aircraft. I've only flown commercial, except for a couple of times in a friends home-built. Used to have a Triumph TR6. I know it's a Brit car but the LeMans reminds me so much of that thing. Not the fastest, best handling, most comfortable car I've ever had ( a few Mustangs, an Accura Integra, Toyota Supra Turbo,..) but the most fun by far. I lived with the quirks for a few years, enjoying it while I had it, learning a lot maintaing it, even made a few dollars when I sold it.
  14. Welcome! None of these issues seem too bad. Well, running out of gas is bad - sorry. Is Wagner fixing? Peace of mind with a good shop. The tank issue and relays are typical of the Guzzi "character" that goes with the "soul" and fixed easily. Both discussed a bit in this forum. Guzzi's are cool, but you know that already. And this forum has a ton of info from a lot of characters. Enjoy that BillyBob.
  15. Welcome! Excellent taste, that Champagne '02. Previous owner had Conti Road Attacks mounted at 7210 miles. I believe these replaced whatever the originals were. Bought the bike at about 10,500 miles and had the Contis replaced with Metzeler Z6 Roadtecs at 14766 miles. Rear was sort of squared off from mostly straight-line commuting, but the tread was lower than I like riding on anyway, especially in the rain. Front had maybe 1000 more miles left but didn't want to mix. New tires are nice.
  16. Win or lose, valuable lessons learned. And skills. You and your son shared in a project. I'm not a father, but I imagine that must be a great feeling. To have a son share in your cycling interest is a treasure. I have the best father in the world and am thankful. He was there for Little League, football, basketball, Cub Scouts. I don't know if he's ever been on a motorcycle - maybe I should ask if he wants to take a ride. May your family have many more.
  17. I've tried a few clamps. The Express Mounts folks have a lot of stuff. Maybe this one is wide enough? http://www.expressmounts.com/ramb231lss FedEx just now delivered something similar I'm hoping will work on the mirror rail or the clip ons. I also have one of these, a clunker of a thing but of no use on my bike. I can drop it in the mail if you want to try it: http://www.expressmounts.com/item-ram-moun...ll/ramb121b.htm
  18. Beautifully done! I'm attempting to get a RAM mount installed on my '02 for a SteetPilot 2610. The previous owner Val (hey Val, still liking your old bike!) installed these: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...post&id=119 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...post&id=120 I don't want to remove them. Dr.Gill has his 2610 attached to the clip ons (thanks Dr.) http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...831&hl=2610 I believe mine should be able to attach the same way. Attaching a RAM mount to the mirror bolt is a great solution, also. However, with the risers, there isn't enough clearance for turning! I'm hoping to find a clamp to use on the mirror attachment rail, further forward, under the windscreen. I'm probabaly overlooking something obvious, making this procedure much harder than it should be. Just exploring options. Attaching to clip ons may be the way I go.
  19. You said goodbye lovingly. She greeted your return warmly. If you rode no other then your conscience should be clear. Sounds like a weekend trip would do you both a world of good. Enjoy the diversions that life offers you as a temporary escape from the various upheavals. Get out on the road and let her sing to you!
  20. Congrats on the new ride. Amsoil 5W40, UFI filter, no hose clamp. Roper plate. Experts at MPH recommendation. Good enough for my peace of mind.
  21. Beautiful bike, Mike. I finally saw one of these a couple of weeks ago. Best of luck with the sale and the business ventures.
  22. O.K. I know I must be sick. I clicked on Quasirosie's pic. Why do I do these dumb things? Thankfully, a cool breeze blew and the headlights shown... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ost&id=6607
  23. Doc, What an awesome trip! I hope to do something similar on my 02 Champagne someday. Last spring, the wife and I visted Yosemite for the second time. We flew into Sacramento and headed through some of the same country you traveled. E15 out of Copperopolis past Tulloch resevoir, down to Chinese camp and 120 into the park to a cabin we rented in Foresta. Spectacular! We went in March so there were no crowds, had some snow, too - nice for us Texans, in a 4 wheel drive! Thanks for sharing the trip. My uneducated guess on the stumbling/sputtering: bad gasoline?
  24. Grieving over man's best friend isn't childish to me. Sorry for your loss. You did good for CSPAN. One of my wife's Pomeranians, a sweet, hopelessly inbred, puppy mill rescue, is failing. The other one senses it and and dominates him more and more. It's hard on my wife now. It will be moreso when Sparky passes.
