    Tekno bags

As stated above, I can recommend the Bagster and Tekno set up on a V11. The Bagster base fits easily on a 'naked' model (ooh eer ) but make sure you don't overtighten the straps at the rear, which fasten around the petrol tap and pressure regulator mounts - on the pre-02/03 V11's.
  2. I've only done a couple of hundred miles since the work was done, but the gearbox and cush-drive definitely feel better. I was shown the original parts - inc.conrods and bolts - removed from my 1999 V11 and there wasn't any undue wear or damge after 31,000 miles use.
  3. He's back!! finally, after the recent crap weather in these here parts, I collected him yesterday. Boy did I miss him...... Sad I know - but I do my V11...
  4. Confused of Yorkshire here... Welcome Mark. Have you checked the clutch switch on the handlebars?
  5. All the Kit A recall work has been done and I collect my bike tomorrow It was in the workshop for 2 days so I guess they didn't have any major problems... How's the recall situation in the USA? Subject has gone a bit quite lately.
  6. Good to know that at least one V11 has made it past 50,000 miles
  7. Guzzi's are renowned for achieving high mileages. Just wondered what V11's had racked up so far. Anyone in excess of 50,000 miles yet?
  8. No problems with my 1999 V11 rear disc or pads. I use the rear brake infrequently. In fact, I still have the original rear pads fitted after 31,000 miles - is this a record?
  9. Steve - we have to keep 'Johnny Foreigner' at arms length... Ref the recall: The technician at my dealer has performed both conrod and gearbox tasks in the past, but on seperate warranty claims. I know they'll do a good job on my bike - but they were concerned about the time allowance.
  10. Regarding the recall situation in the UK, my V11 goes in February 7th for the work to be done - Kit A applies to my 1999 model. I think my dealer has 6 or 7 bikes to do and mine will be the first, but he's a little concerned about only being allowed 12 hours to do the work.
  11. web site http://www.pyramid-plastics.co.uk Part number of the extenda that I used is 05105 / Honda NTV600/650 Price approx. £15 GBP / 22 Euro / $27 USD Sorry, but I don't have the facility to post pictures.
  12. Yes! Pyramid Plastics Ltd fender extenda for the Honda NTV600/650 is almost a perfect fit. It only requires a slight trim to make it fit. I have one on my '99 V11 and it works a treat.

    Buell Chart

Very interesting. My 1997 Buell S1 with stage 1 tune develops 86 BHP and 83 FT/LB at low, low revs. If you want straight 'off the throttle' pure torque, a 1203cc Buell is the thing to have. Pure fun
  14. I received my recall notice yesterday 3rd December. My 1999 1st series V11 is subject to the 'Kit A' list of replacement parts. Coincidentally, I took my bike in yesterday for the 50,000km (31,100 miles) service and my dealer had also received his notice of the recalls - but no parts. He has to apply for the relevant kits, A or B, as and when bikes are booked in for the work doing. Seems a shame to pull apart an engine that has been 99% perfect so far - but better safe than sorry. I don't have the Kit A or B details to hand at the moment. I'll get a copy from my dealer later today.

    rpm at speed

Good point - consider it done
  16. Cycle World reported that the shift quality on their long term test bike degraded. I wasn't sure what this meant until, at 16,500 miles, my shift quality degraded. Lots more false neutrals and missed gears. This is likely the more common circumstance than the ' full grenade.' In my experience third gear was most affected. But , this means upshifting from 2 to 3 or , 3 to 4 as well as downshifting from 4 to 3 or 3 to 2. With the sliding sleeves, it is the gear change which is affected. And who was it who said their third did grenade? This web site is fast becoming 'required reading'. Thanks for the prompt answers to any questions posted.

    Dipstick

Thanks Docc - it wasn't such a silly question after all...
  18. Is this a worldwide recall or just in the US of A? I've drawn a blank with enquiries about this matter on our little island.
  19. Just so I can add this topic to my ever growing list which is entitled 'What may go wrong with my 1999 V11 - but hasn't yet'....what happens when this gearbox fault occurs? Is it all the gears which are affected or just one or two?

    Dipstick

What is the 'accessory' dipstick like? - if it's not a silly question
  21. I've covered well over 28,000 miles on Bosch relays without a failure. Unlike American models, pre-2003 UK spec V11's don't have their headlights hard-wired. I only use my headlight in daylight hours during bad weather, normally it's switched off.

    Tire Pressure

Tyre (correct English spelling ) pressure? 'how long is a piece of string' type of question. I've always run my V11 at 32psi front and 36psi rear all year round. If loaded with luggage and covering long distances at highish speeds I'll increase them both by 4 psi. At these pressures, the bike has always felt stable and tyre wear is reasonable.
  23. Mistral silencers on a V11....go find the nearest tunnel/bridge/underpass and gun it in third. The sound is, well... Not that I'd do such a thing of course..
  24. Wait till you've done another 29,900 miles Max and you'll REALLY love the engine. Mine feels superb now that it (finally) has bedded in... I hope the bike turns out to be everything you'd wished for

    Paranoid?

KB - According to my Guzzi dealer all V11's use the same specification relay - irrespective of year/version.
