  1. The photo shows the cable where it enters the transmission. The rod at the top is the throttle linkage. Be careful not to straighten the angle too much or it will bind on the rod. Just past that point is where the cable goes up under the tank. The new replacement cable has supposedly corrected this problem - I'm keeping mine as a spare.
  2. Other than the Ohlins suspension(you can download their manuals from the Ohlins website) the factory workshop manual for the V11 Sport / LeMans along with Guzziology should get you through most everything. The Rosso is mostly a cosmetic variation. If either of these two references can't help you with a problem or procedure, I'd be willing to bet that someone on this forum can.
  3. In addition to the lube, you might want to straighten out the angle of the housing a little (transmission end).
  4. Not only are the custom bikes uncomfortable, how about getting constantly whipped by all of those leather fringes on the jackets and pants!
  5. Double virgin olive oil (Italian) every 200 miles, whatever the heck that is!. Seriously, if you change frequently any good dino oil will probably work fine. I like Mobil 1 for about 3-4,000 miles with a filter change every two times. This is all that I have used in my Triupmh triple and last two Guzzis. As has often been stated, it's not the oil it's the frequenncy of changes.
  6. Happy birthday Paul and have many, many more!
  7. The only modifications on my Rosso are Mistrals (outside mount) and a PC III that was mapped for this set up (Todd download). The ugly 2800-3000 flat spot is gone as is the gagging/coughing at low speeds in 1st and 2nd. For my riding, I couldn't justify several hundred dollars and a few days at Ferracci to custom tune this set up, although I'm sure it is the ultimate way to go. Right now this Guzzi critter has more smooth power than I will ever need.
  8. Tomorrow (Sat., July 30) there is a half mile national at Hagerstown, MD. The next day there is an all-star hillclimb at the White Rose MC in Jefferson, PA. If anyone from the area is going to either, look for a Rosso Corsa - I'll be there.
  9. If you want simplicity (no new fluid lines) the Williamsville risers bolt right on in about 10 minutes. I've had them for about 6-7000 miles and love them.
  10. What really burns my a__ _is a candle about four feet high! I know that's an old, stale joke but when it's really hot out do these wood beaded seats really work? I have a friend who rides mucho miles and he swears by them. I've tried sheepskin and I have a Maund saddle that is really comfortable but in 90F+ weather my butt gets cooking (and that ain't good!). Sad to say that in 50 years of riding I haven't found a solution (other than staying home in air conditioning or standing on the pegs for a few moments).
  11. I wondered about using a small siphon tube attached to a large syringe to draw out the oil rather than disassembling everything. Baldini feels that this might work but wouldn't get all of the oil. I have to agree with him. So much for my lazy man's out!
  12. Totally agree! I looked into "magic plugs" and came to the conclusion that they were all hype. I'm on my third set of NGK BPR 6ES plugs with nary a complaint.
  13. Have a great vacation -and watch out for those French poodles!
  14. Well Jaap, right now it's 9:56 AM (not sure of the day or month) and by 11 AM I will probably be unable to tell you what I had for breakfast. Getting old isn't for sissies!
  15. OK OK So I'm not paying attention. By the way, does anyone know about using synthetic oil in a V11?
  16. Looks like Al's NFL Steelers namesake, Ben Rothlisberger, wears a lid when playing football but not when riding a bike (latest Rider Magazine). Hey Al - is this a defective gene in your ancestry?
  17. If in doubt, you could always use the guideline that us 50's riders used (no money for a torque wrench back then). Tighten it till the threads strip and then back off 1/4 turn. Seriously, I think it's safe to use the torque specs for a particular bolt size if nothing else is specified.
  18. I'm kinda partial to the neoprene cold weather fishing gloves (West Marine). They are better than anything else I have tried (and believe me I've tried a lot!). Shimano also makes a nice neoprene glove that even has the hand curved.
  19. Stand clear when that baby is unzipped at the end of a long trip!!
  20. Holy Moly! There's four!
  21. Mike, you need to get glasses! There are only three V11 Moto Guzzis in the entire state of NJ. One is in Cape May county (mine), the second is yours, and the third is in a museum up north somewhere. Neither I nor the museum Guzzi were on Rt 23 on July 3rd.
  22. Ditto on the Buell mirrors. They bolt right on in about 5 minutes, look like the originals (same company), are cheap, and you can see stuff!
  23. I used to miss occasionally coming down from 6th to 5th. On a trip my one shifter lever bolt lost it's nut. After I lubed and tightened the entire mechanism I haven't had the problem. I suspect that the loose bolt may have been the problem all along. Check that linkage!
  24. A post on WILDGUZZI cleared up the mystery. Apparently some Speedbleeders were machined at the wrong angle and leaked! :!: In my case, I guess that the initial installation distorted the opening in the Brembo body and then would not re-seat properly a year later. I'm getting so full of knowledge in my old age that my brain may pop! Stand clear!
  25. Make me an offer on a like-new pair of Alpinstar size 11 (44 Euro) waterproof (GoreTex) riding shoes. They look and smell new. There is one small scuff area at the top of the right shoe from hitting the pavement the second (and last) time that I wore them. They are just a bit too tight for me since I have become a size 11 1/2 - 12. Color is black suede and fabric with silver trim. New they were around $140.
