  1. I see Slavomir, like the image you posted shows, you can achieve quite dramatic results with a Polaroid. Where I used to work we used to get through thousands each week. The photograhers used to use the Polaoid to test the still they were shooting prior to naking the actual catalogue shot. Once they went fully digital they stopped using polaroids.

In reply to your earlier question, the reason the images have to be that size is due to the size of the calendar. Any smaller than 1200 x 1600 would be too small for the calendar page unfortunately.

    :D

  2. Hi guys, you may remember the photo competition we ran last year. It was a terrific competition and resulted in a truly stunning 2008 calendar. We have now started a new one forour 2009 calendar.

We learned one or two things last year and we have decided to start it now to take advantage of the summer so contestants will have more time to get snapping whilst engaged on their tours , holidays, at Guzzi events etc.

You may find full details here:

    Good luck and enjoy!

  4. Squadra Guzzista member Lloyd is from the south island of New Zealand. He'll be travelling around Europe this summer and, just to get in the spirit of things, he's preparing a really informative page for anyone who may wish to visit NZ for a biking trip.

Lloyd is from the south island of NZ which is similar in area to that of England but is only inhabitted by 1 million people :o Lloyd refers to it as a biker's paradise and when you see his page I think you'll understand why!

  5. ...so yesterday the kids are at school, the wife's at work, the sun was shining, the bike was calling me and it was approaching lunchtime...so 60 miles later I'm at Winchelsea Beach on the Sussex coast (southern England), near the ancient port of Rye munching on some delicious fish and chips.

The roads were deserted it was an absolutely gloriious ride...what a great way to while away an afternoon! ;D

    Anthro

 yep, there's a fella on our furum and site who has just bought one just like yours!

  7. Yeah, and he lives in Norway! Strange and cool guy.

You just made my day GuzzistaJoe: both Nick Lowe and Ministry withmy morning coffee. Life rocks today

HAHA I'm glad you enjoyed it, I always say breakfast isn't breakfast without some loud rock n roll! HAHA..feel free to add your own to the site, someone who likes Nick Lowe and Ministry at breakfast time when the rest of the world is listening to Radio 4 is a man after my own heart!

  8. Just a minor addition: There were disc-brake Eldo Calis made for model year 1975. I have seen build dates of as late as March 1975. All of these I have seen were police bikes.

Greg, you have much knowledge, if you had the time my srticle would be greatly enhanced by any contribution you may be able to make. It would certainly help with regards accuracy as my research capability stretches only as far as my books and the net allow.

Our site is a wiki, which means it is there for people to add to the content themselves (as opposed to static sites where it is down to the owner of the site) and we'd be honoured if you could could make whatever additions you felt were required to the Cali history article...

    Cheers

  9. Howdy!

I've just completed an article on the (potted) history of the Cali and am after people who have owned/ridden Calis to post their experiences of owning and running one of these machines which, in my opinion, is one of the most important Guzzis of the last 40 years.

The page is here, all you need do is open a thread at the foot of the page...personal experiences are always so much more interesting than just a load of text!

    Thanks for your help!

  10. ...fair point Paul, but slow parts is one of the criticisms that tends to be levelled at Guzzi...you read about it in the press, on forums, all over the place.

I don't know what the depth of the problem is but I am interested in the perception as this is what "colours" the opinion of the marketplace. You still read in the press about agricultural gearboxes, unreliable electrics and poor chrome...why is that? Whereas us who have owned Guzzis for a long time know they are no better or worse than other manufacturers' bikes.

The comments you guys are making are exactly the sort of feedback I'm looking for, and would appreciate it if I could trouble you chaps to add them on the site, so it makes things easier to compile later...

    Thaniks again

  11. Hi everyone, over the last year I've come accross a huge disparity in people's opinion of local importers. It doesn't seem to matter where this is the variety of comments appear to range from absolute praise to downright condemnation.

I have started a survey with which I hope to gain an understanding of the depth and strength of people's feelings on this subject and intend to then send the findings to the factory.

I'd like to find out whether the problem lies with the status of the importers or whether any issues lie closer to Mandello. As this is such an important year for the factory I thought it would be an appropriate to harness the always seemingly passionate opinion of Guzzisti on this subject.

I would very much appreciate it if you could take a few moments to look at this page:

    http://guzzista.wetpaint.com/page/Moto+Guz...+an+exploration

and express your own opinion on the subject by taking part in the relevant opinion polls (you'll se there are two strands to this). The polls are very simple yes/no affairs, but there is an area at the foot of the page where you can fully express your opinion on the subject. All the comments posted here will be prepared in a document and forwarded to the factory at the end.

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

    Regards

    Joe

  12. Whatever the reasons for the e-mail, this sort of seagull management (swoop in, shit on everything and swoop off again) is wrong. If there have been wrong-doers then deal with them, don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I post here from time to time and refer to the knowledge contained therein often. I don't think I've ever been abusive to anyone. I post on other forums in a similar way and, when a similar situation has occurred on the forum I run, I dealt with the individuals. I like to think I treat people with respect and I expect the same in return.

It left a sour taste in the mouth to be treated like a child in a classroom of naughty children. I know not everyone will agree with these words but it's how I personally feel about the situation.

It's wrong to threaten people with the removal of the site. Jaap may own it but this forum is alive because of the investment in time, knowledge, expertise, and humour that it's members have made in it, and with great credit to, but not because of, it's owner. I know only too well how hard it is to set up a forum and what a priviledge it is to have access to such a vast (in comparison) resource of Guzzi enthusiasm.

Deal with the offenders and move on, the rest of us haven't caused you grief Jaap.

  13. [i believe Andre comes on this site from time to time. This bike is what pushed me to make a cafe racer out of my Jackal (work still in progress).

WOW Mike, that's what I want to do to my Jackal...I always thought it would make a good platform for one! Please keep me informed as to how you're getting on as I'll be interested to see how it turns out!
