  1. Riders with recurrent spring failures, have you tried having a return spring made by a spring manufacturer in your country. If Guzzi springs keep breaking, then no point buying theirs.
  2. Hi, how is your bike going now. Have you checked that their is no water in your fuel tank. Water can get in if the drain valve gets blocked for some reason as it pools near the tank cap seal and when you open the cap the overflow will pour into the tank. It happened to me.
  3. I have 11,000 miles on my V11, and I maintain the driveshaft. Has anyone needed to replace theirs yet. What wears out or how do you know when it needs replacing. Cheers.
  4. 2000 V11 and no spring breakage with 12000 miles on the clock. How long is the wait for a new spring for some people. Should I order one now
  5. Just an update, I have got both new brackets fitted to my bike. I ordered a set ( L/H andR/H ) from my local dealer and another set from England. The right hand side my dealer supplied and the left hand side was supplied from England. So that gave me a set. Therefore I am still waiting for both suppliers to complete their orders from me. Thanks to the internet I was able to get my bike back together.
  6. My bike goes in for the gearbox recall this week, I was wondering what happens to the parts that were replaced. I am thinking of keeping mine, maybe make something out of it, has anybody done the same.
  7. My V11 2000 has just cracked both brackets, it has travelled 17,000 kms. I placed an order with my dealer for both brackets 6 weeks ago and today I picked up the right hand side bracket, still waiting for the left hand side. I was not given an estimated date of when this bracket will be delivered, so I am left hanging. And yes my original brackets are made of some type of aluminium material and the replacement bracket is made of metal (tested with a magnet). I find it very annoying and hard to understand why it takes so long to get simple parts especially as these bikes are still in production. I didn't get up the dealer because he puts in the requisition for the part and the rest is up to Guzzi. It sure would be interesting to know where the delay time is actually happening, order two brackets and one is only supplied after 6 weeks, what is going on, can anyone explain.
  8. Thanks for the information, any pics. I take it they are fixing the problem for you at no cost. It makes you wonder what is going on in the factory or their parts suppliers.
  9. another question, what proof is given to the owner that the recall work has been done, is it a receipt or is there a label or some ID put onto the bike.
  10. Thanks Doc for the link up to the other recall topics. I have looked through the other posts and there is some great pictures. Question, to get to the gearbox what work has to be done, does the motor have to come out ?, and how many hours is it actually taking the dealers to do the gearbox work from start to finish. Cheers
  11. I was looking through the forums for tappet ( valve ) adjustments and to my surprise, horror, shock, guys are saying they are experienceing premature valve stem wear and that it is most likely common for all big block motors. If you do have this problem wouldn't a first indication be blowing exhaust smoke at start up after bike has been sitting for a while due to oil by-passing valve stem to valve stem guide seal and entering the combustion chamber. Could these soft valves be a throw back from the leaded petrol period and the hardening process has not been upgraded for unleaded petrol. I don't have smoke blowing out of my exhaust yet. So I am remaining optimistic ( a pessimist is an experienced optimist). The V11 is a great looking bike and a great bike to ride, but if only -
  12. Can anyone list the parts replaced for the recent gearbox recall, and do you have any pictures. Cheers.
  13. No problem of being noisy, with my Magni fairing I have a nylon washer fitted between fairing and cylinder head bracket. All I hear is the exhaust note, BUT I do wear ear plugs under my helmet, I have always worn earplugs whilst riding any road bike because when I first started riding I found the wind noise unbearable after a while. I have been riding for 15 years and my hearing is OK.
  14. Recall work, does anybody know if it has to be done by an authorised Moto Guzzi dealer or can you have it done by any qualified motorcycle mechanic, preferably one you trust.
  15. Sorry, to be more specific I was interested in the factory- Moto Guzzi solution, whom the dealer represents.
  16. Has anyone with a New V11 under warranty experienced water (when riding in the rain) getting into their gearbox via the breather. And if so, what did the dealer do to fix, or has this problem been remedied in the later models. I would like to know as this is a problem. Cheers.
  17. The gearbox breather, has anyone had this apart to see what it looks like, and took pictures. I don't have a spare to take apart, I would like to see the guts of it and see if it is possible to clamp a hose/tube to it and the prevent the ingress of water to the gearbox. Maybe I can then patent this idea to Guzzi. Cheers.
  18. Thanks Al, your post is of great help.
  19. Does anyone know why when riding in the wet, rainwater can enter the gearbox. How can this be prevented. Cheers.
  20. The Moto Guzzi stand and the aftermarket ones like it, do they damage the hexagonal nuts on the outside of the pork chops. Also does the front stand sit where there is a circle shape on the sump bottom. cheers
  21. Which oil is best for the 6 speed gearbox. Synthetic or non synthetic oil. Cheers.
  22. Some V11 gearboxes have been recalled for gear problems. The owners of these recalled boxes would be wise to look out for this noted crack.
  23. John T, I hope you are correct and does any one know what the reason is for the sub frame strut to the middle of the motor block was introduced for on the later models. I know they lengthened the bike, what year model did they do this and did this coincide with the strut addition. Also the short wheel base V11, what is the year run start and finish.
  24. Sorry, I should have been more specific. My V11 is the 2000 model Australian delivery and the flasher unit has 3 blades. Cheers
  25. V11 flasher unit for indicator lights, does anybody know of a common aftermarket version that will do the job of the OEM flasher unit. Cheers.
