  2. Moto Guzzi V11 sport, after a long search I have just bought a new battery for my Guzz. I purchased it in Sydney and it is an Odyssey PC545MJ. MJ is for Metal Jacket. It is an exact fit and battery terminals are in the correct position. It can be laid on its side as it is a sealed battery. Hope this helps for anyone trying to source a battery here in Sydney
  3. I know this does not help, but the factory paint on my 2000 V11 has a very thin coat, more like a film of paint than a coat. And because of this when you get a scratch it can not be polished out. er and as Rocketman suggests the tankslapper is excellent, I have this applied to my tank.
  4. Is there a BMW oil switch to suit ? Which BMW model has the same size threaded hole as the V11.
  5. Fitted my new left hand side header today, it was a perfect fit so all went smoothly. Here's hoping this lasts longer than the original.
  6. Thanks very much for the help Guys.
  7. My original oil switch packed it in. I sourced an aftermarket supplier. The problem is that the aftermarket switches I got fail by leaking oil between the plastic and the metal. I priced an original Oil Switch from my Moto Guzzi dealer which is $160 Australian dollars ($121 US), I will not pay that amount of money for an oil switch. I don't know why it is this price but maybe there might be a loss in the language translation, as in a missplacement of the decimal point 160.00 instead of 16.00 So I am in the process of repairing the leaky switch and sourcing another alternate make of switch. I will see if a Ducati oil switch can do the job.
  8. My left hand side header is cracked near the head exhaust clamp area with 19700 km travelled. I have ordered a new header from my dealer. I hope it will not happen again, if so I will try an aftermarket supplier. Has anyone used an aftermarket supplier.
  9. I have just experienced what Al mentioned above, fortunately I was at the top of my street when it happened and I was able to coast back to home. The problem I found was that some relay sockets were not grabbing onto the relay spades. So I squeezed the sockets so that they can now bite hard onto the relay spades. The bike has had the original relays replaced. I think that this is a real Achilles heel for the bike and I thought if the relay set could be exchanged for a solid state design to improve reliability.
  10. They are Staintunes and sound great, not to loud but have a nice deep tone which I like.
  11. I have the Magni fairing fitted and I love it. The riding position for me is not radical, I'm 5'11. The black matches perfectly with my 2000 V11 I have clip on mirrors fitted. I bought the bike with the fairing already fitted and this was a good selling point to me. I think it gives the V11 a modern classic look.
  12. I had a similar problem. My oil light stayed ON when engine was running. I bought a new transmitter and problem solved. This new transmitter has no leaks whatsoever and oil light goes OFF when engine is running at idle and under hard acceleration.
  13. Why would you want to fit the 4.5'' wheel. And if the case is as stated then I should be able to fit a 5.5'' on my 2000 V11?.
  14. Thanks for sharing the experience Al. With this empirical knowledge I'm sure it will save some people a few headaches.
  15. You can buy a tool to remove that oil filter. Either from Guzzi or Ducati.
  16. Thanks for the reply guys. I think you are most probably correct Pete with the bearings skidding, maybe moly is too slippery.
  17. Greasing the driveshaft 3 zerk (nipple) fittings. the manual states greases must not contain Molybdenum Disulfide additives, why is this so. cheers.
  18. I bought my bike used so I do not have a factory reference point. I would like to know if it is normal to hear a slight whine in 6th gear. It is a bit like when you put your car in reverse and you can hear that whine (manual gearbox only). People use to say the reverse whine is there because the gear is hardly used and it hasn't worn in. I bought the the bike with low mileage so maybe with time 6th gear will wear in. If I can I will try to take another V11 for a ride to compare. My main reason for concern is due to the gearbox allowing water to enter into it, either by the breather or some other reason and I don't know if the previous owner had this occur and if he did, did he changed the oil straight away or chose to ignore it. Cheers.
  19. Sorry I can't help, I have the same problem. The intake rubbers on the throttle bodies of my bike have cracked but don't appear to go all the way through. Is their a better aftermarket solution to replace these rubbers.
  20. "Indicators/Signals/Marker lights = forward and rear facing marker lights, typically amber, for indicating turning, hazard" O.K so they are marker lights and not running lights?. So these marker lights, what is their job. Are they as bright as a flasher bulb.
  21. Down here in OZ, we do not have running lights as you call them. If you wish to be visible you switch your headlight on. When you see an amber light you straight away think that that driver could be making a turn. So in peoples mindset they straight away think that this person could be turning. To put it in context think of it this way, if someone said let's make vehicles more visible from the rear we will have the brake light on at all times and when they brake we will make them flash. How much confusion do you think this would introduce. For me it is the same as indicator lights. Here in OZ when an amber light is on it is to indicate to drivers that you wish to change direction of travel, nothing more nothing less. The amber light therefore only has one job and that is to indicate a change in direction, whether it be changing lanes or making a turn. For running lights we turn on our headlights, and at one stage Volvo had the parking light which is a white light at the front on at all times (hard wired) and this light bulb had a brighter light bulb than a common parking light. The only deviation from this is hazard lights whereby all 4 amber light flash when you breakdown or an accident has occured.
  22. To reiterate, I think you introduce a safety hazard with this running light system. It introduces confusion to the other drivers who could mistake that you are making a turn, but instead you are travelling straight ahead . Which could lead to a collision. I have noticed on Television with American shows that this running light system is in place. And I don't think it is good, I think it would lead to too much confusion and undermine the blinker indicator safety system.
  23. Stone, has anyone seen this movie.
