  1. Make sure you get my centre stand before you go :-) You would miss the weather Robert, I did when i lived over there.....not! Thought about it myself but need this summer off to ride my bike.
  2. Supeb. pity it was Triumph sponsored though , I'm a Norton (and Guzzi) man myself
  3. Reluctant sale of my 93 Daytona, been in storage for the last 3 years and will spend some time this week getting it running again. Lack of use due to having too many bikes and projects. I've just bought a Breva this week taking my total to 11 so something has to go. around 25K miles and in reasonable condition for a 15 year old bike. This is one of the early square headlight models and was running fine when I stopped using it. First priority this week is a Norton engine rebuild then getting the Daytona up and running again. Once its polished up i'll be putting it on Fleabay if no takers. Looking for £3800 (a bargain for you Euro guys!) PM me for further details
  4. Hi Dimitri, just bought an 06 Breva yesterday so I guess I'll be on that in May! Leave the V11 for "fun"
  5. I stayed there a few years ago (with a Norton) we had a ball but the facilities were crap. Character tho and plenty good stories to tell.
  6. Funky isn't how I remember it but it was an experience!! I'd stay there again tho
  7. Agreed, almost any bag fits the base, they are standard. I got a base with my V11 when I bought it and got a bag from fleabay, only problem is the bag I got id tiny...............must learn to read the description & not bid when I'm full of whisky
  8. Right on! NO chance of that in the UK, we are still undesireable to the man despite the acceptability in the public eye
  9. Thanks guy's, the one thing I will say is there does appear to be some common problems even with low mileage bikes ( I often do these trips on a Norton Commando so used to carrying spares and having unsheduled mtce stops. I do like the idea of the challenge on the Guzzi though. I'll keep you posted and I suppose I'll have to call Roberto Tenni so he can order me "essential spares" for the toolkit!!
  10. Right Guys, planning a trip in May June across Europe to Turkey and back through Greece (to say hi to Dimitri) & Italy. I reckon its around a 5500 mile (9000K's) trip. Question is (and ignoring the fact you all love V11's) What spares to take? anything special to prepare before I go? will my ass die on the trip? What tyres will last the distance? My V11 is a 2003 registered but built in 01 with around 15K (miles) on it At the moment its a toss up between taking my Triumph which I know is comfortable does 50mpg all day long and can do the mileage no problems but doesn't have much soul or the V11 which is relatively new to me (although have had / have plenty other Guzzis)
  11. I dont have a sidecar! Mines is a solo, I was out today on the LM111 and done 100 miles, found some bad weather as well but great fun!! The Honda would have been better I think!
  12. Thought you might like this, Me jump starting a TRiumph Rocket 3 from the good old Guzzi!
  13. Taken last weekend at a Rally I was at just south of Edinburgh on my 83 LM111 (the V11 is tucked away for winter!)
  14. Excellent!! I wonder if anyone knows how to get a hold of this obvious documetry in its original form? Must be in an archive somewhere
  15. Nice! Look forward to seeing it it when I pass through in May!
  16. Now that is smart and kinda practical
  17. Funnily enough I was in a Bike shop the other day speaking to the guys, they can't believe how busy the workshop and spares side is at the moment & new bike sales are ticking along (Not a Guzzi dealer BTW) It completely threw me, I was expecting doom & gloom , can't quite understand it
  18. Will they be doing a topbox & Hard luggage for it do you think!
  19. This was a photo of my V11 at the Norton Club end of season party in November last year, bloody cold, thick ice, had to wait for the sun to unfreeze my starter motor, good fun except for the hangover!
  20. The gaiters let it down a bit! IMO
  21. A friend of mines was on the start line last year in his support truck (cost £250K) after paying £50K entry. They called it off at the 11th hour as the safety of the competitors & support crew couldn't be guaranteed. He's in Argentina now, not the same despite the desert. This WAS the Paris Dakar rally then the Dakar rally (it has always finished there) it inspired me to travel to the sahara on my bike just to dip my toe in the sand! Now I'm not sure, a return to Africa is needed I think or call it something else. Just my opinion
  22. Paul, I have a daytona that I need to bring out of hibernation, are the belts a problem? I'll do them if I need to. A guy I know in Belgium (met him 10 years ago in Mandello) had a Daytona back then, now his brother has it, done 100,000 Km, never changed belts ever? Appreciate your take on this.
  23. My better half would buy one in a minute! Just waiting for the V7 Cafe sport to come in to the UK (June I'm told) But for her not me. Dimitri, I'm planning a trip next May / June which will (hopefully) go through Thessaloniki, going to Istanbul first then back through Greece to Italy then home. Still in a quandry over which bike to take though, the V11 is leading at the moment but my Triumph does 50+ to the gallon so still undecided.
