  1. I had my first proper pointless ride on the Scura today. About 200 miles of twisty smiles, one brief pitstop at a friends to pinch up the new head bearings where they had settled and a slight rattle had appeared, fixed in a tea break. Other than that a faultless run. Yeehar. Only two mentionables, can't get used to that clattering clutch and feels like my knees are up my nose after 2yrs on the Cali but no cramps for the ol' fella. Begodandbegorra this thing seems to lean forever, sort of, you fly through a series of beds or a roundabout faster than sensability tells you you should and you barely have to lean it, even when conditions and visibility are exellent and you stuff it into your favourite bends it just tracks true and grips like a jealous gorilla. I got home and expected to find shredded tyres (yeah right) and there are still huge chicken strips, I have to visit the man shop and get me some lean nuts before this bit of late summer passes By the way, I already have an aprilia. Futura RST1000 yes it was me who bought it.
  2. Mo-biker has spent the past week or so applying a thick coat of TLC to the somewhat unloved dark beastie. Wiring repairs, new battery, new wheel and steering bearings,Oil and fuel hoses, full grease-up brakes fully overhauled lumps of flesh applied to sharp edges and blood dripped onto just cleaned bits and a good few quid lighter. Took it for a shake down yesterday just a few miles, still in overalls. All seemed ok. Decided to ride it to work this morning only to find out......THIS MACHINE IS POSESSED BY THE DEVIL HIMSELF! It may have a lovely slick gearbox but it can only be ridden at one speed, flat out! Every bend and roundabout must be attacked like it offended my Daughter and all vehicles on MY road must be overtaken regardles of how much room there is or isn't. My grin is so wide my head is almost flipping over. Are they all like this or should I break out the Holy Water now. I wonder how long my license is going to last, and my life for that matter, cos on this mornings performance my guardian angels wings must be in tatters. Happy me.
  3. John is in great form, has a K75 which he is happy with. I think with the problems he had with the scura maybe he lost faith in using it. Why wouldn't he!! Also he has diverted his energies into building a most beautifull eco house. VERY impressed I was. With regard to the Scura, I have allways had mechanical sympathy for everything I own ( I have no friends so nobody will rescue me ) The gearchange is as light as a feather, the best I have felt on any bike believe it or not. The clutch is slightly grabby but that might be me. One thing I have noticed when on a 'neutral'throttle, you know like rolling through bends when you are neither on nor off the power it tends to be very...lurchy? like a broken neon light is in charge of the throttle. is that normal? I am currently giving it a full nose to tail so that might improve things. Incuded was a palm pilot thingy. I think I might be able to do things to the fueling with it, tho that would be a first for me and I would be very nervous of messing in that department.
  4. Hi all, I'm new on here, been watching for a while and have just bought a Scura. Spoke to Belfast a couple of times. Nice helpfull fella. Now I'm scared. I have been applying a thick coating of luuurv to my new toy as its been 'square wheeled' for about 3yrs (rode 100 miles home with 10psi in the front and oil pi$$ing all over me from the breather pipe) and was reassured, don't worry the clutch was replaced after grenading with a (proud sounding) single plate RAM. Now I have read this!! I was distressed enough with it sounding like a galloping horse on a tin roof at idle in neutral but have heard Ducrapi clutches sound not much better. How worried should I be? have many RAM replacements gone bang? Mo

    which one

hi guys, sorry in advance as this i'm sure has been asked a thousand times before. I have had and enjoyed in the past a gpz900-thunderace-firestorm aprilia futura and also bought last year a cali EV which has sold me on guzzis. I may or may not sell the futura (they are a great sporty tourer) but for what i'd get for it I figure I may as well keep it for the faster touring hols. However the cali I find relaxing but a bit lacking in zip so I now can live no longer without a V11, was thinking of a sport 12 but the V11 just seems to have more soul,or am I talking crap? anyway, which one? and nothing too ferocious on the wrists. Thanks if you can help. mo
