    New pipes

Pulled mine off last week. Cleaned up that area nicely and got rid of a vent line that connects the two throttle bodies, "T" between the cylinders with a line to the canister. Used rubber nipples to cover the throttle bodies. This has been talked about several times here with different mentods on capping the TB's and what to do with vent lines. Of course, I kept all hardware in case I ever have to put it back on to pass an annual vehicle inspection that thinks that's important

    smoked signal lens

I still have a set of 4 Buell lights, new in the box and will sell them at cost +shipping. I have 2 left rear and 2 right rear. Of course they already have the inner and outer lenses, bulbs and stalks.. Hit me off line if interested.
  3. Your right about the inside diameter. I couldn't fit universal bar ends due to the step, the ruber kept working back out and the they are too big to be tapped for the OEM MG ends. I sent an email off to TM with hopes they have been down this road before. They mentioned Heli bars but none others. Also, are the "large" TM ends the one to have for vibration control? or will the regular 12z do?
  4. Anyone fitted the Throttle master with the Two Bro's Bars?
  5. The Buell riders peg mounts are cast into the frame (kind of a large pork chop). It is not a conventional mount. I didn't see anything on the Harley stealers floor or other shops that would adapt as easy or look as clean as our mount... Same reason I did not use the Buell Pins, they are too long and fat and would weaken the stock mount by enlarging the hole... besides they are expensive, almost 20 bucks for 2 pins and e-clips, OMG.. That’s Guzzi Prices! As far as the rider’s pegs, I thought about this one too... and the Buell pegs can be mounted there with the same mod and will be in the same vertical line just lower. If you "swap them" to opposite sides they would be upside down or some odd angle (The pegs are 45 deg offset as are the riders bracket). Because the pegs are 1" lower, I think they will be too low and hit the stock cans. I no longer have my OEM cans, so I can't be 100% sure they won't fit but if you look at your pegs and can clearance, I don't think you have an inch with pegs down without lowering the cans the same difference... it will be close. If you are running the Quat-D, you’re golden. In hind-site, for two up comfort, I think the Q-D with Buell pegs all around would be the ticket
  6. Thanks Tx, Too bad I already have a set of the Neptunes in the mail... I got disapointed with the Ti shortage and the rumor of not being available until the spring... I'm sure they won't last long..
  7. Tx, Do you know what year group the cans are for? I could find '03 kits in the states but no luck on the '02 kit...

    smoked signal lens

Buell Light Parts & cost: Y0040.K Inner Turn Signal $1.95 US Y0039.K Outer Turn Signal $2.20 US or If you need to change out your complete signal, the buell one has the rubber middle and looks the same as a MG and includes the lenses your looking for Y0527.K Turn Signal Right Rear (or left front on a MG) $5.60 US Y0526.K Turn Signal Left Rear (or right front on a MG) $5.60 US. So.. If he doesnt have 4 each of the lenses alone, check for the signal assembleys they include the two lenses. I do not have the #s for the fronts, they are a little longer but have the lenses your looking for too.
  9. Sorry I can't give an update as far as comfort goes with mike bike still down for maintenance (waiting on exhaust cans). I did refine the bushing I originally used. I found a couple bronze bushing that were 1" long, 3/8 outside diameter, with a 1/4" inside diameter. I had to shorten the lenght to a little less than 7/8" to get it to fit perfectly inside the peg and MG peg mount (used a bench grinder again). I found the bushing at a local hardware store. I had originally used a piece of threaded lamp conduit which has the 3/8 OD and 1/4"+ ID just to get it together. It worked fine, and wasn't visible but I knew it wasn't the right stuff and would eventually rust which made me keep looking. The following web site will give you a source and visuall of the bushing/bearing I'm talking about. McMaster-Carr deal in SAE/Metric and you might even find one with closer tolerances but the 3/8x1/4 worked for me (a kick ass site for sure). The trick with the whole project is grind slow on the peg & bushing to keep the tolerance close and square. If you take too much off, I imagine things will get a little sloppy/droopy. The Buell spring around the bushing works great. http://www.mcmaster.com/param/asp/PSearch2...cMMainWidth=570 the above link will take you to the bushing I'm refering to, or just go to www.mcmaster.com and surf the night away as you'll find all those do-dads you been looking for. Shipping is supper quick and reasonable.
  10. Ok... Well here's a pic of a break lever that I had welded. I was removing the back tire to clean/lube/inspect and during the removal, the bike shifted resulting in it slipping off the paddock stand The damage was a broken break lever and a turnsignal (my price of addmision to the dumb ass club that day was high ). The weld is clean and stronger than the casting. It's not perfect but it came out better than I expected. I intentionally did not clean up the weld too much for fear of remove too much metal. I don't know what the cost of a new one is... but I was back up and running for 20 bucks, and 1 hour later. I assume your lever broke in a similar fassion meaning it might be repairable. My lesson learned is; I now takes two people to remove my rear wheel, one to steady it on the stand and one to work the axel and splines. Simple insurance against another non moving garage accident I'll eventially replace it with a new one for cosmentic purposes.. but in the mean time, it works, and it's my little reminder for safe maintenance.. Still don't know why it fell, but it won't happen again
  11. I recently picked up two off ebay, sold as Ducati levers. One was Ducati OEM in grey (996) and the other was a Lockart Philips aftermaket in a daker grey (almost black). I painted the LP one black and size, fit, and function are perfect. I did swap the the gold tone brembo adjuster to keep it as close to OEM as possible. Paid about 20 bucks for each lever vs. the MG price for a lever is $108.54 (MGNA is on the pipe! ) As others mentioned you are looking for Ducati or Brembro adjustable (Large-hole) clutch lever. I'm sure if you go into a Ducati dealer it will be much cheeper than MG.
  12. Thanks for the quick response... I'll take care of all that tomorrow and follow the threads tonight.. I guess I didn't look hard enough.
  13. I thought I have seen several times here, the hose that connects the two throttle bodys can be removered if the TBs are properly capped. I was tracing the line and mid engine there is a "T" fitting. Where does that line go and what is the function (I can't trace it with the airbox still in). If I'm getting ready to do a bad thing by line removal let me know . I already have the rubber caps for the TBs.
  14. Yes, they come complete for mounting on a Buell. The "Mounting Plate" I referred to is the actual piece that bolts through the fairing (on both bikes). On the goose, the 2 studs are short and use 10mm acorn nuts. On the Buell, the 2 bolts are long and use 7/8 nuts (not supplied) and studs are too long anyway. What you do is, under the rubber boot, is a bolt that you undo so you can put your Guzzi plate on the Buell’s stalk. Easy swap, pay close attention to orientation when you remove the plate and install it on the new mirror the same way... The guzzi plate bolt is metric and Buell’s standard. 20 minute job from start to finish.. You have all you need and if you don't like you can return to original by swapping back, nothing gets broken or permanently modified. If you don't swap the plates and keep the orginal orientation they won't hang right. I can put my fairing on tomorrow and take a couple pictures if needed.
  15. vk, Swing by your local HD/Buell dealler and check out the Firebolt mirrors.. You'll recognized them right off and see the curve stalks and increase length. They are mounted lower on the Buell but look fine on the lemans, remember swap mounting plates to keep the original nuts and mounting. enjoy,
  16. TX, I wear a size 9 and the reach is no issue (in the garage!).. If there are any shift/break issues, I may adjust lever position(s) as needed. Not familiar with Kens setup.. Did he adapt Buell pegs too?
  17. I purchased a pair of Buell Firebolt mirrors for my lemans. Again instead of the OEM replacement at $72.94 US for one mirror . I noticed the Buell mirrors were wider by an inch or so, and would get my elbows out of the picture. I had to swap mounting plates due to bolt length (Buell too long), the swap was easy and the mirrors mount right up. Sorry no mounted pictures... my fairing is off. A side by side you can see they are a little longer. Not sure what will happen with vibrations since the mirrors are longer but we'll see when I get things running. I'm sure there will be more. These are made by the same company that makes the OEM lemans mirrors, they are sturdy, have a little curve to the stalk, and have the DOT warning on the mirror that things are way further away now N0151.2A8 Mirror, Left $19.60 US N0162.2A8 Mirror, Right $19.60 US
  18. Top view with Buell spring (bushing not visible)
  19. Instead of replacing a damaged OEM riders foot peg at the tune of $52.49 US, I decided to adapt a pair of rider pegs from a 04' Buell Lighting for about $40.00 US. What I liked about the pegs is they have about a 1" plus drop to them. Parts Needed from HD dealer: N0520.1AD, Foot peg Assembly, Rider LH, S, $12.80 US N0521.1AD, Foot peg Assembly, Rider RH, S, $12.80 US C0249.02A8, Spring Rider, Foot peg, RH, $1.95 US C0250.02A8, Spring Rider, Foot peg, LH, $1.95 US C0235.02A8, Pin, Foot peg, (2EA req.), $7.00 US (Optional) N0425.02A8, "E" Ring, Foot peg, (2EA req.), $4.20 US (Optional) Bushing material Tools Needed: Standard Guzzi stuff Caliper/micrometer Bench grinder Drill (Optional) I'm not sure I'll keep the OEM "Hero" spike but will make that determination once I get my bike back on the road. Projects took about 3 hours due to learning curve and head scratching but if your handy and have the tools, 1.5 hours tops. I kept stock peg mounting brackets and did not mod them in case I want to revert to stock (If you use the HD pins, you will have to drill the boss larger.). The biggest headache in this project is grinding/milling the Buell pegs to fit the stock width. Stock peg width is ~22.40mm and the Buell pegs are ~24.60mm so some cutting is necessary. I used a bench grinder to work both sides of the Buell peg (used the side of the wheel for large flat surface) to get it down to the ~22.40mm required to fit into the stock mount. I'm sure there are better tools to do this but the side of the grinder wheel worked fine (leather gloves required!) grinder worked fine... take your time, and keep surfaces flat and parallel. Once trimmed to fit (width only!), I chose to use the stock pins and "E" clip as not to drill out the stock mounts for the buell pins which are fat (optional). The inside pin diameter of the buell peg is much larger than the Guzzi, I used a small piece of lighting conduit, cut to ~22.40mm width and used the buell spring instead of the tiny MG spring. If you do not use a bushing, the peg will be loose around the pin. I've got more pictures but not sure how to post a couple at a time so if you have question let me know, remember I have not ridden it yet due to other work being done but I think it will be perfect, the pegs are tight (grind slowly), a little wider than OEM, down an inch or so and slightly Aft of original position. I know it will work for me, I've been sudying our erg options (Centauro, 15.00 relocation kit, etc) and think this will meet my needs.
  20. Neptune Mufflers of NZ has worked a deal with www.adventurersworkshop.com. Andrew is the owner and is a dual sport hanging tits kinda guy. He's new to the line but working through it with a couple installed and more on the way (mostly BMW stuff). Neptune's site in NZ is http://www.neptunemufflers.co.nz/ I am going to purchase a set of cans for my lemans (not sure of the black chrome or brushed SS). Andrew is getting the pricing nailed down and getting some details on the low mount but looks a like it will be high 800 to low 900s.. A little pricy but very nice stuff from those that own them. I like the use of stock mounting hardware, keeping OEM passenger foot pads and the removable exhaust insert to keep the DBs down. I'll keep you posted on the my dealings with Andrew, shipping, mounting etc.. A set on a Sport: http://www.neptunemufflers.co.nz/guz1a.jpg I wanted to get the MG Ti system but since they are currently made of unobtainium and have a no-time-soon delivery date with the back order. Called several dealers and can get the 2003 kit but no joy on the 2002 setup. If you want to chat with Andrew; info@adventurersworkshop.com or 908-740-5203. He's new to the line, has a Neptune can on his Beemer and is quite happy with fit and finish (of course).. Both Neptune in NZ and Andrew have been prompt with responses. Nice to have another choice in the U.S.
  21. Has anyone tried polishing the stainless or chroming the stock pipes? I assume the pollised SS would still turn bronze due to the heat... and the chrome woul blue...
  22. Al, thanks... I saw a CF topped tank a year or so ago at the dealer (FBF) and could not remember the model. At the time I thought it would it would make a nice vis-mod if not too pricey.. I wasn't sure hoew the pad was mounted and was afraid to pry/peel it off in discovery.
  23. Does anyone know if the Moto Guzzi Carbon Fiber tank insert mounts the same way as the rubber one does?? CF looks pretty nice there, I don't remember what years/models have (03 rossos??).. Just wondering
