  1. Thanks Michael, Miss this thread for a while, my starting gremlins has gone away for now but upgrading to a better flow wires is always a good idea. I got a new battery and I also clean the solenoid contact, the only thing I noticed off was a vary loose neutral switch contact under that starter motor. Not sure if poor contact there would not allow the bike to start but my bike basically decides to take a 4 day vacation before it deciedes to come back for no apparant reason. Chuck, Thanks for the link and that wire kit will be in my bike by Christmass Just got a GPR 2-1 mid-pipe kid and let you know how that works, if anything it seem to take off 30 pounds off compare to stock Frank

  3. Being a new Guzzi owner I'm getting use to all the Guzzi imperfection or charm . I also got clutch issues when I change the stock levers to Pazzo or similar aftermarket version and what I learn is two folds. Change the clutch fluids, mine is in there since 02 and you WILL feel a difference after bleeding the old sludge out. After you change the fluid, the engagement point will be different as there is less air and water in the line, the point where the clutch lever engage the clutch piston might need backing out a 1/4 turn, to fully release the clutch plates. My bike also runs fine when cold and after a 30min ride, my clutch act up when its hot, like it wont shift right and also almost got me kill in traffic. I pull over and got out my tool kit and and only thing I can think of is clutch related and I adjusted the lever engagement where its in contact with the clutch piston and loose it up and my clutch working properly again. The same thing happen when I change my brake lever and bleed the front brake. Bike will ride fine for a while then my front end lock up. back out on the brake lever engagement and all is fine. Brake/clutch fluid will expand when heat up so what seems fine when cold will not be when hot. I'm just vary lucky when my clutch/brake acted up I'm not on highway doing 80 mph... that would be the end of me. Regarding neutral switch, my contact wire was so loose that when I touch it, it come lose right away and I though I broke the wire. The factory connection was just too loose to begin with and I use a needle plier to make the connection tighter. I think thats why I got some none start issues sometimes. Check for the easy things first before tearing into the transmission.
  4. The bolt arrived today, thanks Mike! It is 12mm bolt 35mm long by 1.75 thread pitch. No wonder the bolt fall off as 1.75 thread pitch is too corse/wide for engine mount with vibrations to dealt with. All the Japanese engine mount bolts are 1.25 pitch which is fine thread. I guess the Italians never learn or just as stubburn as the British I'll thread lock all the engine bolts for sure after this. Frank
  5. I saw MG cycles have different types of reset knobs for sale when I was on the site last week. Check over there and see if they have one that fits your bike (I'm sure there is). Good Luck Frank
  6. Thanks Hubert! Never would of guess the solenoid is right next to the starter and its dam huge to boot. The Guzzi's solenoid is about the size of starter on Japanese bikes Guzzi's being my first Italian is still vary alien to me compare to Japanese counterparts from transmission fluids, to the location of the clutch slave (pain in the ass to bleed) to the odd size bulbs in instrument cluster. Got the cover off the starter and clean and put die-electric grease on all the contact I could find, also clean the neutral switch contact just below the starter. Order up all new relays and hope the none start issues can be put to rest.
  7. Well, after four days my bike decides to come back from the dead and started yesterday even though I did nothing to the bike. I saw the post on the re wiring but still not sure how to do it yet. Some suggest its the solenoid and I'm sure it have something to do with the none start issue. I like to clean the contact on the solenoid if I can just locate the sucker and its no where to be found under the seat.
  8. Check and clean the solenoid. Hubert Hi Hubert, Can you tell me where the solenoid is located? I see a similar round shape next to the relay banks but I think its the flasher relay as its too light. thanks
  9. Well, after four days my bike started again and nothing has change. Since my bike stop starting over the last weekend, I just try to start it everyday to see if new symptoms or changes. Everyday is the same and today for no other reason it decided to come back from protest. I'm happy it started but I'm afraid to ride it too far as it might not start again for no reason. I did a search online and this is problem is not uncommon. Guzzi tech got a article post that might be the cause but I still can't figure out how to implement the solution from the poster. http://forum.guzzitech.com/forum/160/4908.html
  10. Thank you for the offer Mike! I could definitely use the bolt and washer, Pm on the way. This time blue lock tight all the frame bolts and pork chops. Check with MG cycles and they don't carry the engine mount bolts so its either dealer or specialty stores.
  11. Thanks for the feedback and info. 12mm bolt x 35mm long. How about the pitch? 1.25 or 1.5? My local hardware only carry corse thread 1.7 so I guess I have to mail order or special order.
  12. My bike just start to have the same problem, after a short ride, stop the engine it won't start no more. New battery and fuse and relay seem to working fine. When I push the start switch all I got is a click noise, the starter motor won't even crank. If I push the start switch too long the 15 amp relay fuse (between battery fuse and headlight fuse) will blow. Not sure where to start to check but I like to know where is the ground wire connected to?
  13. I just got the same problem as you. Come back from a ride and everything is fine and then it won't start. The fuel pump prims and battery is fully charge but when I push the starter switch I only heard a click noise and nothing, the starter motor won't even turn over. Does your engine even cranks? or just won't start?
  14. I don't know how a engine mount bolt can fall off or come lose but mine did. It only got 5,500 miles on my Le Mans and I have no idea how this could happen, could the factory forgot to installed it in the first place? My right side front engine mount bolt is missing (the one next to the exhaust headers). Can anybody tell me the size, thread and length of the allen bolt? I'd check the parts book and it only gives a part number but no size or any spec. Thanks Frank
  15. I got a 02 Le Mans and I just take off the instrumentation few weeks ago to replace a bulb and I did not recall removing any set screw. The knob will just spin off if you turn it in one direction (can't remember which way, sorry) but I think you just keep turning and when its tight it just keep turning the number dials so you know its set. My instrument is the white face Veglia's, the black face version might be different?
  16. Hi All, Got a 02 V11 Le Mans and during a recent tire change I want to installed a angle tire valve stem to ease the tire pressure check procedure at the gas station. My research suggest there are two stem size available, one is 11.3mm diameter for most Japanese bikes and the other size is 8.3mm that fits Ducati's and Triumph's rims. I bought both to be sure and when my tire shop remove my tire stem both size's won't fit as the stock Brembo rims use a odd 6+mm size. I can not find any angle vavle stem in the 6mm size rang so my questions is that have any members sucessufully installed a angle valve stem on their stock rims? If yes, where did you get them? Thanks Frank
  17. Thansk so much for the great info. I know I come to the right place. Got the PDF manual already, not directly from the link (its spam territory there) but a link from that site. The previous owner confirm its the original battery so 9+ years is a pretty good run in my book. I order Odyssey PC545 already and the tires are vintage 2004 Bridgestone 021's. The shift fork recall has been done but I don't see any spring. Is it inside the case? One more questions, I noticed the right engine cylinder top end has more clacking noise then the left cylinder. I know its a push rod design but is it normal to have valve train noise? It only got 5,500 miles but the uneven noise got me concern. Is the valve adjustment a tappet screw and feeler gauge affair? or its a shim/bucket type? I rode the bike a few more time and I like it more and more, just rock solid and steady but you do have to pick your lines early. My other V-twin is Yamaha ZX550 Vision way back them, feel a lot more smooth and revy compared to the Guzzi but the torque is out of this world on the V11. I'd also rode my friends Honda Hawk GT and the vibs from the engine is similar (except the side to side rock). The bike hide its weight vary well indeed and once on the way, its cloud 9 territory except for the vibs. I feel the bike like to run around 5-6k rpm, never feel the need for 6th speed and anything below 4k rpm I feel like abusing the engine even though it could easily pull from 3k rpm.
  18. Hi Everyone, I'm six year late to the party but better late then never My name is Frank, a long time Guzzi fan, first time owner and just bought a 02 V11 Le Mans three weeks ago with 5k miles and the previous owner only put 1.5k miles from 04 till now. Obviously he polish the bike more then he rides. Its champaign color which beside the silver V11 color is my second favorit among the V11 colors. I paid $4,000 USD so hope its a good price. My bike has the typical crinkle engine paint (extra option from factory ) The fuel pump is located in front of the engine above the oil cooler so I think I won't have any vapor lock issues. I have some questions and since I don't have a manual yet, I hope some of you can point me in the right direction. 1. I think it still have the original Guzzi battery as it has the Guzzi sticker on the battery but its hard to believed it lasted from 02 till now? Is that typical battery life span? I'm going to Laguna Seca GP next month in July and I'm debating to replace the battery just to be on the safe side or hope it it will make it? 2. How to you take off the gas tank? I remove the bolt under the seat but the tank just wont budge and I don't want to force it but I can't see any other bolts that is holding the tank. Bought a K&N and Ferraci air box modification kit so any feedback would be nice. 3. I want to change the oil on the bike and bought the filter and oil filter cover nut from MG cycles. I saw two possible drain holes on the back side of the motor but not sure which one. Or do you drain the oil when you remove the oil filter? Since the bike does not have a center stand do I need a rear stand to properyl drain all the oil out? Procedure and sequence is much appreciated. 4. The turn indicator lens bulb burn out and after I replace it with bigger bulb I notice the turn indicator lens is green color, is that typical on Guzzi? I thought orange is the universal standar. I want to replace the instrumentation bulb with LED but the one's that I can sourced, will not fit the small hole on the baside of the guages. Has anyone successfully update their insturment bulbs with LED? I change out the rear brak bulb with LED and its makes a big difference. 5. Lots of talk on cross over pipe and I notice the stock pipe already are cross breath at the back, thought not much volumn, is that the issue? Does the later 03-05 models won't need the cross over as they already have it at the front of the engine header. Is a 03-05 header with cross over and match to a ferraci cross over at back, give best mid-range power? I'll post some pictures as soon as I put the fairings back and any feedback are much appreciated.
  19. The tire hugger is gone, but can't see the fender ARe you planning to mount the plate inside the wheel wall like some sportbikes out there
  20. He email me back stating he has order the sheet metal for it so I hope to get mine soon. One of the best looking fender eliminator out there. The Ferraci one is no longer in production and I like to retain the stock brake light anyway.
  21. has not set their status

  22. Thanks so much that's great info to know, so which relay are you supposed to replace it with?
