Round about nowhere*
belfastguzzi replied to belfastguzzi's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Point. It is. I figured that Mr R. must have knocked it up so as he could keep his tyre profiles in shape. That place where he lives seems to be a grid of straight roads...and desert. (No good denying it, PR. The camera don't lie.) -
Round about nowhere*

So, it should have been a quiz? Any more guesses? There is one person on the Forum who should know it. He lives in a desert, both geographically and culturally. He lives in a (small) town that seems to have only straight roads (which may explain someone's desperation to build a roundabout, the infinite corner). This is located on the outskirts of the town (though the town centre doesn't look much different, it's just without the curves). Post early for Christmas -

mmm... can't wait 'til mine breaks again! (A chap from Sydney, Australia e-mailed over Christmas. His broke over the hols too.)

Ah SAGA. Excellent, new friends! er, I mean, friends! They must have a Forum somewhere. Oh, yeah, is it called MotoGuzzi Club, GB? -
Elephant's Memory
belfastguzzi replied to helicopterjim R.I.P.'s topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Okay, perhaps not the finest psychodelic, rock & roll band in the world, but still, it brings back warm memories of the early seventies when they backed John Lennon. Ho hum. -

Yes indeed. Time is like the chocolate cake on the party table of life. -

Yes, unfortunately a lot of things are piled on top of each other at this time of year, so it's 14 to 17 hour days and mostly 7 day weeks, plus my mother is ill. So I haven't had time to prepare for an mot so car failed and I haven't had time to book a retest or to fix vehicle plus I didn't have time to get to a motorbike MOT or to a hospital appointment plus I haven't had time to get a photo and to renew my driving licence which expired a few weeks ago. Etc. So things aren't going well on the time front. However there is no holding back the march of time and today is big *0 bithday time! -
Glad to see you're doing the right thing and following instructions. It's only logical that you make me Chairman of the Board now.

Those would be the 'x-it' mints (sorry, back to the original subject now)

I could look after the Smileys Box? I could clean-up the Tenni Forum

Can't wait for the next series to see what's on the table. Last time it was home-made whiskey. This time it's a tin of hemorrhoid ointment. Next time? I'd like to see a knitting pattern.
-
Perfect. Jaap has GOT TO add that to the big box of smileys. (And get rid of: )

OK, good idea.

By then, there won't be any petrol and bikes will be banned anyway. And it'll be Waterworld.

V11 Rally Scotland 18th to 20th May 2007
belfastguzzi replied to V11UK's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
What! Is there no justice? No... is there too much justice? Is this standard, ordinary person jury service, or something to do with the job? Any chance it could finish early? Take a couple of days to get up there and a couple back, or maybe more, for a tour around? -
Come on Bendy, it's not really that difficult to spot the OLD CURMUDGEONS on the board. Here - why isn't there a smiley with a beard(grey)?! We must have one, this being a Moto Guzzi board and all...

You may remember that this was the time of the infamous bodge, where an aluminium roller collar was constructed to maximise the operation of the fast idle cam ~~ before I thought about it and realised there was probably an adjustment to be had by way of a simple srew fastener. And indeed there was. There's no such thing?
-
Ah. Looking at photos of springs for the seat-latch thread has reminded me that I adjusted the fast idle mech, when I swapped over springs, so that it would go through the full rev range – not for any worthwhile reason other than – just because it could. So maybe fast idle doesn't normally give a massive increase (and it doesn't need to), nevertheless, you should be able to get a reasonable lift from it. On mine as standard (er, it may have slipped through the Quality Control With Excess Slack department) the fast idle cam made limited (and not even immediate) contact with the accelerator pin – until things were adjusted.
-
QC with excess slack It's all in the (mis)reading and (mis)understanding. Punctuation may be required for qualification. Is there a dept. called 'Quality Control With Excess Slack'? I would llike to think so. Or is it just that some wiry bits with excess slack in 'em, slip through Quality Control?

I must speak to the Lord Mayor about this matter

As Ratchet says. ~ and as I happen to have a couple of pics that I used in a previous thread, might as well post them again ~ The standard opening arrangement is nice and simple but not a triumph of slick and accurate fitting. As standard, the seat opening mech. is marginally effective and this may be your problem. Open it (following Ratchet's instructions) and then fix it so it doesn't keep on happening. The inner cable wire is too long, so the latch doesn't start to open when the key is turned. Whether you keep the in-situ spring or swap it, add a collar to take-up wire slack. and then the seat opens straight away, without excess force.

Hey, you're not fooling! as I believe the Americans say. In fact, if Jaap doesn't adopt this as a strap line for the Board, I may have to incotporate it in a future sig: V11lemans.com – We • offer polite answers along with friendly joviality • supply gentlemanly facts • address mechanical and societal issues with aplomb • No fouling! * some fooling

yes, it is an archaic form of the spelling hence it's use here. Ain't Motoe Guzzi mode an archaic mode? If the Grisoe gets an 8-valve motor I'll consider dropping the e. Or else it's just to annoy the Aemericaens. black Br*va Quail Quake? Quack?? "Republicans have been accused of abandoning the poor. It's the other way around. They never vote for us." -- Quayle,1988
