  1. The factory aluminium rack is once again available. I was surprised to see them reappear. Been on back-order for a year. I believe Greg has a few available as well.
  2. Should fit EV through 01 02 and up EV has different spacing for the wider(chromed) rear wheel. Rear brake carrier and spacers are different.
  3. Ruff Stanfield Has a ring to it. I know a guy who uses Ranger Blakesly as his internet sign on== yep, dog/street/porn star name.
  4. Got it.... Bobbins and spiders = buttons and carriers. Shoulda known.
  5. txrider, stopped by the shop this am to pick up a few tools for a chore at home. checked the tube of sil-glyde, and you are correct, it is shown as suitable for o-ring, boots, etc. I did not know this, we have always used the other stuff(from Raybestos, actually, with the catchy title of Hydraulic Brake Cylinder Assembly Fluid) on the rubber bits. Mainly because it works well for that task, so why change? I don't think you have anything to worry with sil-glyde on the piston seals. Dog knows we have no shortage of lawyers and lawsuits. If there were any risk, it would be displayed across the package in inch-high letters. Pete, is right, we use the sil-glyde mainly for cars with squeaky brakes, usually little old lady in a V8 Mercedes with autobahn-grade brakes who idles to the grocery store, to church, and then home. Even with our hot, humid weather(25.5 inches of rain since Jan 1), we don't see much problem out of the modern Brembos on Guzzis. Pete, WTF is a bobbin? I'd hate to over-lube mine
  6. Tx, We use a product with a catchy name like "Brake Assembly Lubricant" made by either Bendix or Wagner, designed to aid assembly of caliper seals. Seems to work better than the old school method of brake fluid. This is a clear to amber liquid. Not familiar with Sylgard, there is a product called Syl-glyde, used for lubrcating slide pins and backing plate contact points. It is a brownish paste, works well for this purpose, but unsuitable for contact with rubber components.
  7. Send them on. I'm all into "adding lightness".
  8. Pete, I need 5 more, if you can spare em
  9. I trust Wick won't mind.... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...8650&hl=mph
  10. Stock brackets in black-painted steel are available at about $15 each, IIRC. In stock. Never seen a steel one break. Prolly changed 50 of the aluminium type. Most before they broke, some after.
  11. 2000 and '01 bars ends are the same. As were the T-meisters. They changed with the 02 Lemans, Scura, Tenni.
  12. Eric, I am just tossing this out-- make sure the grip is not interfering with the throttle action. Seen it happen in a fall over/molestation. Also, take cable loose at throttle, to help decide if your problem is in the bar angle, and not cables or something else.
  13. Rubber products are contracted out to the Vatican. Most that look bad are not leaking yet. The propane is a valid test. A set sitting on the shelf is good to have, just in case.
  14. Condolences, Richard. I still look for my fleabag a couple times a day. Expect him to raise his head as I round the corner, or enter the room. It's been 6 months, I'm finally starting to look for a good, low-mileage used dog. He had been mistreated in his previous surroundings, and was the most personable and friendly dog I ever knew. I am not normally one to quote sappy stuff, but dogs are different. A toast to CSPAN
  15. I have a few of Pete's plates available if someone in the US is doing the Spring get-ready-to-ride routine. Please e-mail Todd mphcycles.com International shipping is a PITA, so Pete sold me a few in a bulk package. I believe Greg at MI is also carrying this fine item.
  16. Pete, this is good advice, but I have watched a number of folks at "tech day" type events at our shop. They snug down the bolt. Then give it just a little more.. Then think about it a few seconds, wrinkle their brow, and give it one last "oomph". Then we break out the Heli-coil set. I don't mean to criticize or belittle anyone, but "feel" means an entirely different thing to a guy who does it all day every day, for years, as opposed to the guy who drops his pan to change oil and adjusts valves once year. Best rule of thumb I have heard was to use a long T-handle, and only tighten it as much as you can between two fingers. (think Churchill, V for Victory, upside down.) You can always go back and snug JUST a little more, but the finger thing will be very close for M6x1.0 into alum.
  17. Raz, After many repeated tires, it is quite likely an extractor is broken off. At that point, EDM is your only option. Spark erode is a phrase I had never heard, but sounds like the same thing. Check with machine shops, or industrial supply/drill bit house type places in your area. They will know the process, and know who can do it for you.
  18. Google EDM. May cost $100 to have it laser drilled out. If you have an extractor broken off, it will get that out, as well. Head gasket and some o-rings, and your mom has a brother named something er other. No need for a new head.
  19. I am but a simple Texan, but is the liability more or less for the manufacturer if they offer a rebuild kit, as opposed to a complete caliper? Don't think anyone could horribly bodge installing a caliper, even if sold complete? I think they sell Guzzi riders short. And as a result, deserve a lawsuit...

    Am I Wrong?

It opens the door to the Bat Cave... Looks good, Gil.
  21. So, Help a guy out. I gave up ripping this stuff out of my planting beds a year or so ago. now I am overrun with the stuff... How do I cook it, and who wants to be listed as beneficiary afterward? The azaleas are fading fast, the roses are coming on nicely, but I am new to this end of the agave chain. Far too much experience on the end product.
  22. rda, to confirm, the bosch # 0 580 464 048 is shown in 2 different supplier cross-references as Pierburg kit #7.21287.3 number on the Pierburg pump from this kit is 7.21287.03 which matches the number we got from a stock V11 pump. The "kit" includes a rubber sleeve for the pump, some terminals, and a terminal boot. Both the Pierburg and the Bosch numbers are shown as suitable substitutions for the BMW car part # 16 14 1 179 232, as used in many late 80's, early 90's 6 cyl. BMWs. HTH
  23. The Bosch number ending in 048 rings a bell in my feeble brain as the stocker for the California models with external pump. Ignore the last 3 zeros on the number, Bosch uses 10-digit numbers. The V11 Sport pump is made by Pierburg. I have the Pierburg number at the shop, but Mr. Grolsch and Officer Prudence dictate that I am unable to provide the proper Pierburg number. I have heard of the 048 number being used in V11s with no ill effects, but we have not done it in real life. The 048 was also used in BMW cars in the early to mid-90's. Perhaps in the 535, 735? More details when I can. Sorry bout your weeekend.
  24. Man, Don't tell me there may actually be an inconsistency in the universally revered ST3614? There aren't many bridges near my house, and I will certainly need a place from which to jump. Use the filter of your choice, put a clamp on it if it makes you feel safer. Have a beer, and try to relax..... Any tests of the effect of sunspots on oil filter gasket thickness? No such thing as too much data. How will we KNOW if we don't test?
