FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR

What symptoms leads you to believe yours is bad?

 fuel mixture too rich .

TBs well synched,TPS value correct, case temp sensor resistance is correct.

ignition coils are replaced, wires also. check all electric connection.

fuel pump and filter are like new.

next possibility is fuel pressure regulator.

How do you think?

What maked you decide the fuel mixture was too rich. In order to check the press.regulator you would have to plumb into the fuel line and ckeck fuel pressure at koeo and koer.

Anything is possible but I doubt it is the regulator.

I don't think I've ever seen a regulator that was much out of range on pressure. When they fail they usually leak out of the vacuum port. Since the V11 does not use the vacuum port and the diaphragm does not move, it is unlikely to have it fail. Is it rich at idle or all the time? At idle you can adjust. You may have a problem with your temp sensor or leaky injector if it is indeed too rich at other times.

A search on either topic will net you several hours of lively reading

I thought the V11 should run "too rich" to cool the valves and heads.

Better than too lean!

yes.richer is better than leaner.

but for 40000km 7years,everything was fine .

but since last winter both plugs black, smokin idle, exhaust gas smells fuel-ish.

engine oil gettin black fast.

I am doubting fuel relative system,or valve guides worn(somky exhaust gas).

Perhaps blocked airflow. Check the air filter and be sure the intake is not blocked. Some airboxes have been modified by opening the lid and the protective film on the underside of the tank can drop down blocking flow.

I replaced FPR but still rich.

I tested 2 WRBER RPM-40 and a BOSCH 3.0 bar.

connected Fuel pressure gauge to fuel return line

indicated 3.6 bar! 3.6bar is too high I think.

Manual says 3.0+-0.2.

What is wrong?

so 3 bar is 44 psi, you have 53 all 3 regulators are high ?

Maybe your gauge reads high ? Are you supposed to read it at the return line ?

Didn't think it was not the regulator to begin with. If you need to prove it apply vacuum (15"Hg or more) to the regulator port when running. Pressure should drop by 5-10 psi. If it does there is not another restriction causing high pressure and your gauge is probably not accurate. Start looking elsewhere.

Make sure you are checking for richness after several minutes of running on a warmed up motor. They run rich even on a hot start for the first 3000 revolutions. Have you read your plugs after a reasonable stretch at steady throttle above 3000 RPM? (shut motor off instantly without idling then read the plugs)If they are indeed sooty open the vacuum nipples at the manifold right after shutting off and see if there is raw fuel dripping indicating a sticking injector. Check ohm values of the temp sensor in the head. Back probe temp sensor circuit at the computer to check integrity of wiring. (resistance = cold = rich) Also check the temp sensor in the air box. What is TPS voltage at idle?
