Lucky owner of a Rosso Mandello?

V!!

Recommended Posts

Sins one year I have been a happy owner of a -01 V11 Sport and the other day I ran in to a "Rosso" for sale, not much technical diffrence but with very nice looks! :D

So I bought the "Rosso"!

One of the technical differances is the singel disc clutch(WHY?)

On my "old" V11(2 disc)the clutch was wery soft and easy to drive with but on the "Rosso" the clutch is very "edgy" grips hard and direct, an its very difficult to drive drive soft. From the beginning I thought that it's only me thats used to my old clutch, but after driving for a while i'm starting to think some thing is wrong.

Anyone that can help me with an opinion and refereces of how it should be!

Stefan,

It may be different to Rosso, not sure, but the single plate in the Scura is pretty grabby too...I think there's some stuff on this if you do a search on this site. John O'Sullivan spoke to Agostinis about the clutch... You there John???

Technicaly a superior clutch. Much stronger hookup and more resistant to abuse.

(yes, I know a small % are bad, just like the dual disc)

Funny though, when I rode a dual disc sport It felt like the clutch was just about worn out!

Don't worry though, it will make you a smoother rider once you get used to it.

My new EV Touring also has a single plate clutch according to the specifications. Interestingly it rattles when the clutch lever is released, whereas the Le Mans rattles when disengaged.

Both are quite smooth, no hint of grabbing.

Keith,

I checked with the head mechanic at Agostini's when there last summer. He told me that the single plate clutch on the Scura is different to the Rosso clutch. I bow to his superior knowledge :sun:

My clutch was making the usual "two cheese graters on Viagra f*cking in a galvanised bucket" and I was concerned about the reliability as it was only 2,500kms from home. He gave me the most unusual "they all do that sir!" and changed the oil "O" ring behind the alternator in 30 minutes.

I had got a set of adjustable clip-ons from Agostini earlier in the year and once I gave them my name and address they were most obliging, as I was a returning customer, and did the repair on the oil "O" ring as a warranty claim.

I have only 21,000kms on my bike as yet, I will give a reliability report on 200,000kms in 20 years time

Have fun,

John

Oh, yeah. that's fine- SOP. If it sounds like they're going at it in NON-galvanized bucket, you should worry.
