Yeah, in case you haven't read it elsewhere on this site, that's why you don't bother changing the filter through that little round door - take off the whole sump plate so you can put the clamp on... well worth the effort A Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yeah, in case you haven't read it elsewhere on this site, that's why you don't bother changing the filter through that little round door - take off the whole sump plate so you can put the clamp on... well worth the effort A GUys, I saw that on the site and put on the clamp, resting so that the filter could not spin off. LowRyter Posted August 31, 2012 Share Posted August 31, 2012 the hose clamp is the same thing I do for the EV. but you have to drop the pan to change filter, which is due at 9-10k miles (apprx every 3rd oil change + tranny, rear end & valve adj). sullvarni Posted September 12, 2012 Share Posted September 12, 2012 So this might be a dumb question and I've heard about the hose clamp thing for the filter and having to drop the sump plate "Blah Blah" which seems like a lot of work and I've done my oil change a few times since owning the bike. So here's the thing whats the matter with just pulling the cover over the filter off and checking it once in a while which is what i do with no problems so far,I'm no Mechanic and there are people on this site with more Guzzi knowledge than I'll ever have,"Just wondering". This is me being dumb again but I'm not sure i understand the question,the filter is still on i just remove the cover over it and see if It's still tight,or am i missing something here and no i don't lose any oil. OK,I'm a little light on brain power right now as I'm in hospital with a Kidney problem,wont' bore you to death with the details but the prognoses looks good and I'm eating and walking which is more than i can say for most of the poor sods on this floor,thank God for National Health Service here in Canada "A",and I'm not a true blood socialist but close,"LOL". You know you might be right I'm a little fuzzy brain wise right now for obvious reasons so don't do this,maybe a higher power on this site can comment on this,i thought i had checked tightness of the filter this way,maybe not,when you change the oil of course then if It's open to the sump there will still be a little in there after it's drained,of course if not then it would be OK,clear as mud now. Another thought just occurred to,"OH No"you could drain the oil and then tighten the filter then put the oil back in,lot less work than pulling the sump bottom off,this is what i think i did,not sure.
