fastaussie Posted yesterday at 04:13 PM Posted yesterday at 04:13 PM anybody opened these up before? is it possible to remove some baffling to let a bit more sound out, incrementally? maybe 30%?
GuzziMoto Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I would think someone would have already responded. But here is my two cents. There is no easy way to "de-baffle" the stock mufflers. In fact, as I recall, if you remove those screws you will find that there is no access to the internals of the stock muffler without cutting it open. That cap is just for looks. Some people have done dumb things like drill out the stock muffler. But the results are not good in my opinion. If you can't swing a decent set of proper mufflers, you can get some cheap generic mufflers and adapt them for less work then it would take to open up the stock mufflers. 2

With the advantage that the stock mufflers remain intact, which is what I would prefer. You never know if you might want to put them back on one day. 1
audiomick Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Thanks for the link @docc After only glancing over the first couple of pages, I feel confirmed in my opinion and @GuzziMoto 's advice to get some after-market mufflers instead of "improving" the standard ones. Butchering the standard mufflers with no way back just doesn't seem right.
