      12
    • A road legal MGS01 with a V11 motor.

i wouldn't like Guzzi to become mainstream so my ideas will always edge more on keeping the ppl who are already customers, attracting new customers in the italophile community and NOT looking any way at expanding in areas that isn't yours. Not even try.

the idea is to have a stable line of products with LOTS of (technical) aftermarket stuff available.

No japanese or 999 beater. Or hide it very well ;-)

So, this is why i don't want a 1225 cc 125 HP 4 valves road going missile. I don't want Guzzi to become fashionable and if they had a bike that was too fast too easily straight from the shop, it would attract a crowd I wouln't like to see attracted...

(I remember oh so well how was my favorite Ducati shop prior to the Ducati Store and i don't want that to happen to MG. I want workshops, no Volvo dealers.)

Sport

I would love to see MG coming with a 2 valves MGS01, 180 kgs and 100 HP at the backwheel. That would be top of the range for MG customers interested in a sporty, monoposto variation of a V11.

V11

The V11 would need to loose 20 kgs and have all the stupid problems sorted out of course, but I like the diverse versions they made if it: i think the V11 line is in fact quite beautiful.

Griso

Griso are ok: there's nothing wrong with trying to do a roadster. Make it shine: this is a week end bike.

Breva 1100

i already hate that bike but then I dislike EV's and big tourers...

Dump the Breva 750

MG should think of a naked retro simple bike and sell it real cheap: a 2006 version of the T3: no frills, no look-at-me, no nothing: a Tonti frame, 994cc, plain looking black and white bike would be great.

just my two Soros, really ;-)

Well, ok but Guzzi have to make enough money to stay viable. Triumph have expanded a lot, and still cater for the "core" customers who want a Brit retro.

Is it? Why should you have to modify the bike. Don't go the way of Hardly Ableson where the standard kit is so crap you have to spend a fortune in the "Squawking Vulture" shop.

I kind of agree, although it wouldn't put me off. I would have a Ducati if one met my needs and don't really care about commercialism if the product is good

Sounds ok to me

YES! KEEP THE V11. THE V11 MUST STAY

Griso

NO! don't turn it into a bling encrusted weekend toy like a Street Rod or V Rod, we don't want chrome.

Breva 1100

I hate it too

I voted for the wheelchair, but they better do a decent paint job on it or else I'll be rolling over the Alps and kick Luigi's butt.

:D

I expect you will be able to customise it with a leakproof, easy wipe Corbin seat, and easy to push OZ wheels.

well, i think having a V11 line, a Griso roadster, a top-of-the-line sporty 2 valves MGS01 and a total retro machine IS viable...Maximizing the product: one engine used with several degrees of engine tuning...Gee, piece of cake. It would do so well, the Mandello factory wouldn't have to work 5 days a week. look, i just found the way the eliminate the problems of the friday bike ;-)

cos tampering your bike is part of the motorbike culture. look at all the bikes here: there are more modified bikes (it can be a small modif) than bikes that haven't seen changes...We could have different cams, suspensions, forks, exhausts, seats, etc...Everything that would make your bike a raging sport bike or a low torque outfit...

Well, i disagree. I had two Ducatis prior to my STW and i just didn't want to get into a third one cos Ducati Stores sux... So, for me, MG staying an underdog is definitively a must. i'm not interested in riding a bike everybody rides, and i'm not interested in having my bike in a shop that rely more on tshirt sales than the experience and knowledge of its mechanics.

i didn't explain myself too well: i meant make it special :-)

i know beauty is in the eye of blah blah blah, but that Breva 750ie is just an ugly duck, an unconvincing bike when you look at others in its niche and it will never be a beautiful swan. I don't think it's a very good MG entry bike either and i would be very interested to look at market research results showing who buys them...No, i think that bastard bike needs to be terminated and a real no-frills T3 like bike has to take its place.

Or they can just build one and i'll take it ;--)

Some excellent ideas for Moto Guzzi courtesy of your #1 fans/riders and the people that really do care that a company such as Moto Guzzi does survive and does prosper. David (Dlaing), Jihem and Nogbad, I totally agree with all of you. You don't think that some of the designers at Moto Guzzi are not frustrated? Of course they are!! There is a sense of desperation at Moto Guzzi and they are just twiddling their thumbs until a new injection of money comes in. However, injecting new money into old thinking will just produce the failures of the past once again. Which brings me to my vote. I voted for the the high horsepower, liquid-cooled motor on the MGS-01 or similar bike. The people at Moto Guzzi need new inspiration like the fabled V-8 of the fifties. And they need to go racing with that motor. I realize that this would take some time so in the mean time they produce a 4V motor with an honest 100hp to the rear wheel in the MGS-01 with all the best components that can be assembled for a cost lower than $15,000, they don't stop producing the V11 but scale down the models, the Griso becomes a reality with a 4V motor, they make a Tonti framed speedster for not much money, and they make an entry level bike (if they want to). With all the collective knowledge and love of Moto Guzzi's on this site surely there must be a solution to this dilemma. No, Jihem Moto Guzzi's will never be as common as Harley's or Honda's because the motor is the right "way" but a little more popularity would not hurt.

Being off Guzzi's for a good few years, I just picked up a nice Jackal to use as a platform for a V1100S. I had forgot what a great frame the Tonti frame is and sad that Guzzi does not build a more stand/naked/ retrosport bike with the current running gear.

The current Tonti frame is as good as it has ever been, infact it would have been a dream to have in the 70's or 80's, with its stronger swingarm (though too long for a sporting machine, Anyone have a LM 4/5 swingarm available), stiff and beefy 45mm braced forks and multi braced frame.

But alas it just sits in cruiser garb.

Well, I guess I will just have to build it myself!

Its great to be back on a Guzzi!!!

A water cooled Guzzi might end up looking like a CX 500 Honda though... :bbblll:

How about partially liquid cooled cylinders that keep the fins like that gigantic Kawasaki cruiser? That way Guzzi won't have to jump right into the 1980's.

I vote for the MGS1 with the V11 motor but that's my :2c: ,if there's any leagal MGS1 set up bike I would take it.

Moreover I would like to point out that though MGS has a dream design it is a bit, only a bit Japan-like. I would like something more "individual" in the same super Sport setup for the Guzzi or more mild Sport .

Griso is more towards that .It just isn't sport or even more a superSport bike. A sport or a super sport bike is a model that Guzzi needs since this the"direction :race: " the marque was born and the genes are always there. :mg:
