Normally, I would take my usual dictatorial and independent approach to the award of a point, but in this case I am just not sure.

I'm therefore putting it to the vote.

Its a bodge- when he gets 2 more points he can borrow my large mallet and move up to the next level of bodging.

Can't a bodge be legitimate?

78820[/snapback]

Yes, but only when it's a "field" bodge. Example, using a wire hanger to hold your bike together to get home etc. etc. Almost any bodge is legitimate in this context provided it doesn't cause permanent damage to the bike and is later removed in favour of a proper repair. Say a fuse malfunctioned on the road due to vibration or corrosion; it would be legitimate to use a nail to get home. If however the fuse blew due to an electrical problem a nail would not be a legitimate bodge whatever the circumstances unless the underlying problem had been found and rectified.

To be legitimate, a bodge has to be temporary. Bodging is context sensitive. If you broke down next door to a Guzzi parts warehouse there wouldn't be a lot of legitimate bodges. If you broke down in Alaska, almost anything goes.

Is this clear enough?

Gotcha!

Then my bodge vote stands and meets the test and this is not a legitimate modification.

I can't believe industry actually markets such a dreadful bodge.

I am horrified and angry! :P

Jim should spend a few dollars more and make it right
