  3. 12.84 volts The charging threshold for the Odyssey is 12.65v (85%). This is the point at which the AGM should be properly "conditioned." Asking our V11's flinky charging system to perform the heavy lifting of bringing back an Odyssey more deeply discharged is likely to lead to disappointments.

  4. I'd like offer a clarification of this point . . . The factory regulator ground is a small gauge wire that does go back to the battery through the factory wiring loom. The regulator (case) benefits from a robust ground directly to the engine/timing chest. What is critical to prevent that tiny wire from (unsuccessfully) carrying the full grounding current, is to regularly service the battery negative/ main ground to the back of the gearbox behind the seat latch: Otherwise: PHOOF!!

  5. Just a point to add to the first post. With both my 1100 Sport and my '04 BMW GSA, another dry clutch- when cold they will often block out first gear until the bike is rolled a bit or the clutch feathered. What's happening is the opposite of the clutch dragging, rather that it is releasing so completely that it will not rotate the gears in the box against the cold oil. Sometimes this happens when the gear dogs are in alignment rather than in mesh, and can't move into position until they are rotated slightly. Seems only to happen when cold.

  6. Yesterday, I rode Ebbetts Pass for the first time and it might just be my new favorite road. I was on the Stelvio going from Sacramento airport to Mammoth Lakes and it got me wanting to back and ride it on a V11. Then I started thinking about the Sierra Spine Raid idea that I've been incubating for too long. So... I am testing interest in gathering in Mammoth Lakes, CA in early October, when the high-altitude roads are still open and the aspens are putting on a color show. Tentatively October 9-13, with flexible arrival/departure dates. There is a hotel in town with covered parking (not garage). The hotel I'm thinking of is walking distance to my house, which has a two-car garage and can accommodate several bikes. Potential routes include: Ebbets Pass: https://scenic4.org/the-route/the-driving-experience/. << required reading Yosemite Valley via Tioga Pass Short loops around Mammoth and June Lake area Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Lake Tahoe Sonora Pass Mono Lake and Benton Hot Springs (and search for wild mustangs on route 120) There are plenty of dirt bike trails here too in case anybody wants to trailer two bikes. What say you? Interested enough for me to inquire regarding a small block of rooms?

  7. Given the ... marginal ... state of ground circuitry from Italy, it's entirely possible that you have a wire rubbed through on the framework, with a slight touch introducing voltage into a poor ground, neutralizing the ground path to your tach (and other stuff maybe) You can do some testing by comparing voltages- across battery + to ground, battery - to ground, and ground-to-ground across different points. It's not a guarantee that you'll see a differential, but if you do it's a certainty that something needs to be addressed.

  8. The most intelligent person i ever met said 95% of all electrical problems will be w/in 6" of an electrical connection . Look there first before you go looking for your "purloined letter".
