  1. There is a guy here in Vancouver who repairs Lambo cases. When the owner cracks thier engine/trans a re & re at the Lambo dealer is several thousand$. He welds them up in place, on the car. One of the few who can, and he makes a couple grand every time he does one. Unlikely you will find someone of his caliber but once removed and cleaned (very, very well) a good welder should be able to repair it. certainly worth the effort.
  2. We should probably get some of Ratcho's air bag collar thingies too. That'll give the spectators something to sit on. Safety third!
  3. Indoor racing @ Ben's warehouse! Party on!
  4. If he'd put the kid in the trunk he never would have got a ticket. Well, maybe for the no reg/license...
  5. Those vibrations can be tough to find. I was about to tear apart my timing chest thinking my vibration (like you at only one rpm and only heard riding, usually on decel) could only be coming from there. Went through the entire front end and found nothing. Over the weekend I saw a tiny little scuff hidden up on top of my chin spoiler. There's the vibe! Happy hunting!
  6. Thanks Richard! That's exactly what I was thinking. I'd ha' known better if that helicopterjim guy'd have me over to play with his toys. It's almost like he knows me or something. Beautiful bike Nan! Glad to hear you're enjoying Guzzidom. cheers,
  7. Mac, not sure if that is directed at me or Ratshit... Anytime I see Ratshit swing his purse at a forum member I feel obliged to piss him off. If it was you or anyone else I rubbed the wrong way, you have my humble appology.
  8. IIRC the first year for the full fairing Lemans was 2002. Same for the Scura. In 2001 you could get the Rosso Mandello with that fairing (limited to 300), but definitely not the greenies. At least here in Canada I'm not aware of any 2001 Lemans other than RM. Was the RM also a short frame or the later 2002 frame/body? Welcome aboard Nanc! Hope you are enjoying that mean greenie! We tend to drive the women away fairly quickly here... I'll wait 6 mos before I hit on you
  9. After a six month LOA I return to find Ratshit is still being a twat to anyone who doesn't conform to his absolute authority. Some folks is mechanics, some just play one on the internet.
  10. Somebody tries to kill you, then gives you the finger? Hell, that's a daily occurence riding a bike in Vancouver. Sometimes several times.
  11. All good advice! Number one - get a good battery and relays in. Ouji's carb cleaner trick is effective but carb cleaner/wd40 etc all do nasty things to rubber. A better and cleaner way is to use a propane torch (just a trickle of gas and for god's sake don't light it first). Same principle - if the propane is sucked through the boot rpm will increase. If it does you need new boots. If not, carry on. If you use carb cleaner and they are fine, they won't be in a few weeks. cheers,
  12. Once again reading through all the useless crap yields an interesting tidbit. What are you using for your cutoffs? I keep meaning to bring home my collection of flow restrictors and find a permanent solution to this problem. In the beginning I just balanced to the center of the bounce. Now I just stick a clothes pin on the tubes. Works quite well. Interested in what you are using - inline valve? cheers,
  13. The forged wheel can be welded, the question is if it can be welded without distortion. And that is some jaw dropping welding ability demonstrated!!!
  14. Did you punch him in the head repeatedly? I would have.
  15. The first time I took my tank off I noticed that it sat right on the wires coming out of the petcock. Every time I take it off I'm careful about how I put it down and my wires still look beautiful. Anyway, something to be wary of... I had horrendous problems with vapour lock. Put about a foot of aircraft fuel line fire insulation around the line between the petcock and pump (Summit sells the stuff for racing too - Firesleeve) and that was the end of my vapour lock issues. Cost about $20. cheers
  16. I've decided that before I do anything rash I'm going to have a couple Guzzi pros listen to it and see what they think. Like Steve says, there's a lot going on in there noise wise.
  17. Tell him the transponder isn't signalling because there isn't one.
  18. My bike (01 sport) was untunable using other methods. I used Micha's method and after one iteration it ran perfectly. Put my digital tach on and it was idling exactly at 1150rpm as spec'd. As mentioned, Micha knows a thing or two...
  19. I wish my V11 had a choke. And carbs.
  20. No chip, no hocus pocus. It's just a key. Tell him to cut it. Ryan

    Free Cat

Free is way too much to pay for a cat. 101 Uses for a Dead Cat by Simon Bond. His 101 Unspeakable Acts is pretty good too.
  22. Looks really good! Hope you have better luck than me - I did mine up perfect only to gouge the crap out of it when the bike fell over only a couple weekslater...
  23. That's the problem with this - the exhaust never gets the cooling airflow that sucks the heat out of the head. Marginal performance tradeoff.
