  1. You're not looking that haggered! And Thanks for reminding me that I'll be doing the same soon, except we have our ceremony in mid June. In the middle of the day. When it's stinking hot. And they make me wear a tie. But they're good kids and I'll be there to recognize the hard work they've put in. cheers, Rj
  2. Happy Birthday lads! Rj
  3. Steve - should be at the next Calabria - see you there! Bassguy - ditching the stabilizer did wonders, I'm sure. Also changed to a smaller rear tire (160 from 170) (Avon Azzaro's) and replaced front srings with Wilburs. That helped a lot too as I'm a big boy. I'm thinking about getting a Wilburs rear but likely next summer. Upped the preload on the rear, got everything fairly well dialed in until I get to a bumpy twisty road... cheers, Rj
  4. Sean Connery! Sean Connery! Are there any other famous Scotsmen? Rj
  5. Still trying to unload that Florida land ya got suckered into?? I'd be skeptical about everything too if I fell for that one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2h1xiroQXw Rj
  6. Yeah, I was thinking I should have brought a camera - the track makes for some nice background... A bunch of other people took pics though - one guy spent 15 mins snapping away. I'll take a bunch once I have the Pazzo's and the Hyperpro damper on. Speaking of dampers, if you're still running the POS Bitubo take it off and check it off the bike. Most of the corner fighting was due to the damper feeling like it had gravel in it. Couldn't tell it had shite the bed when it was on the bike. cheers, Rj
  7. I know what you're saying Dave. It is a valid point. On most roads with most riders, obeying most of the rules, a Guzzi can hang with the sport bikes. But it does lose out on the straights. On the track - forget it! The biggest factor is rider ability. Me on the Guzzi can leave SOME riders on crotch rockets in the dust while at the same time SOME guys (and gals!) on old iron will eat me. Before he blew his motor, Staedtler didn't seem to have any problem hanging with his sport bike buddies. Step one - get your suspension sorted and the bike maximized (TPS, balance etc.). Step two - become the best rider you can be on your Guzzi. If still not happy, start throwing gobs of money at the Guzzi. There is very little in life that throwing great gobs of money at can't fix. cheers, Rj
  8. Put plates on the Black Bastard ('01 V11 Sport) Saturday and bombed it out to Mission for the M/C races Sunday. After nearly 2 years of sorting and repairing I've been rewarded with a Guzzi that's running like never before. Even new it wasn't anywhere near this good in all aspects! She's running smooth. Doesn't fight me in the corners anymore. Mileage is up to ~34 MPG (40MPG UK) from mid/low twenties. Trans not leaking. Nothing vibrated off (vibration far less than ever). Feels like a different bike. Looks like she gets to stay... Thanks for the help! I've learned a ton from this forum and its members! Rj
  9. Sad news - but much better than it could have been!! Hope for a speedy recovery! Rj
  10. Noooo... that's not why you deleted your post. Why don't you mention anything about reading torque and HP @2000 rpm off Jim's chart? Oh, right... graphs and charts with numbers on them can be confusing, can't they? Rj
  11. Speaking of chronic delusions - what about the post you deleted Rat?? Rj
  12. Rat's kinda like Eric Cartman on South Park when they make him Hall Monitor. He runs around whapping the kids on the head screaming "Respect mah Authority!!!". Shame he can't have a spirited discussion without throwing the insults around. Rj
  13. I was a vapor lock sufferer... It does sound like vapour lock except that after 1hr it should have cooled sufficiently to return to liquid. With mine it always occured ~15-20 mins after I shut it down and was just fine 30 min later. Does it stall and then immediately fire? If so then I would doubt vapor lock... Usually you would have to wait a while before it would go again. I'm sure there will be other thoughts... cheers, Rj
  14. Sorry, Mike, on my '01 it was a straight swap... cheers, Rj
  15. One of the many issues with my bike was horrendous fuel mileage (low 20's!!). I'm hoping part of that will be solved with the brass sensor holder from Greg at MI ( ). Bike's good to go again and I'll be plating it this weekend so no direct feedback yet. I was surprised that not only did the transducer not contact the head side of the holder, it was a whopping 5mm away! Greg says filling the holder with anti-seize makes it work fine. Maybe so... but I wanted a for sure solution. Turned up a nice little brass bit that slides into the holder with the inside profiled for the sensor. Add a bit of thermal compound to each bit and I know for certain that things will be as accurate as possible (assuming sensor is working). Will report once I've run a few tanks through the Bastard. cheers, Rj
  16. except there's nothing stupid about it! Exactly the same story here. Nothing made me a better rider than the advanced course I took - also 10 yrs into riding. Took it 2 months after getting my Guzzi. Learned more in that day about me, riding, and the Guzzi than I ever imagined I could. Of all the gobs of money I've spent on the Guzzi by far this was the best $400 I ever spent. cheers, Rj
  17. One freakin' handed! Dude's got massive skills! I might have to get me one of these... Wish I had a child I could sell... Rj
  18. The story of my life, Jim - and a wonderful one at that! Living the dream, Rj
  19. Hmmm - on my 01 the pump activates with the ign switch regardless of clutch in/out. That would eliminate the clutch switch connectors (bullets under the Lside of tank) as a cause. As said already, try cycling the kill switch a couple times. That was the issue with mine when it acted this way. If fuses and relays are good, I'd suspect a bad connection/broken wire. Rj
  20. That's one of the things I love about old Ducs - even strapped down in the bed of a truck, they're still doing 10mph @ 2000 rpm! Nice find! Rj
  21. Hey Jim, Got the Black Bastard up and running Saturday. Plates next weekend! Should be able to join in on the next ride. cheers! Rj
  22. Condolences on the loss of life's most faithful companion from myself and my fur kid Gromit (or G-dawg as the neighborhood kids have come to call him). Said goodbye too many times myself - a loss that cuts far deeper than you'd think. Rj
  23. Thanks Falco! That really wasn't necessary - price was excellent either way! You'll be my first stop when I'm looking for goodies! cheers, Rj
  24. I ordered so fast I didn't take advantage of the password. Got to the site, password didn't work, figured Fak it, price is better than I figured anyway. Thanks Falco - buy yaself a wobbly pop or two on me . cheers, Rj
  25. Rossoandy - puts the "break" back into "break in". Rj
