  1. Nice!!!  Comfy bike indeed the K1600GTL,  I enjoyed a weekend rental on that bike in the Bay Area a couple of years ago.  Almost an Iron Butt run on your first night!  You can definitely run fast from San Antonio to El Paso...wide open territory!!  So you're a flag man in the corner...cool gig!

  2. Infraction free race for Marquez...super clean riding, no bumping and grinding with Rossi this time!  Can't hate a guy for being so good, he ups the game and competition for all others which is a good thing for the whole of racing.  Winning 5 times in a row on the same track certainly puts him into illustrious company in Moto GP history.

Did you ride your Scura from Arizona to Austin Bbolesaz?   :notworthy:

  3. A fantastic day to ride up and watch the Moto GP race at COTA in Austin.  Easy 300 miler round trip door to door on the Scura...nice and crisp ride up and super pleasant on the way back.  Met up with another Guzzi friend there to watch the race and saw a few others in the parking lots.  Had a great ride back with my buddy Tom on his Stelvio.  Tons of great bikes, fantastic atmosphere, perfect day for a ride and the King of COTA ran away with a 5th straight title...Marquez is just amazing.  Was right on the corner watching where Rossi finally passed Pedrosa to take over 2nd, the crowd went wild!  Lots of 93 and 46 fans as you might imagine!

A few shots along the way - here's hoping for another few weeks of great riding weather before the humidity kicks in!  Bike averaged about 32 mpg round trip...feels a bit low, so it's time to connect up to GuzziDiag and check the settings, but it ran like a champ...smooth and silky all the way regardless of gear or speed.

First stop...some Limoncello flavored Gatorade...who knew it came in such a delicious flavor!

A sea of bikes - lots of interesting varieties everywhere!

Turn 15 - probably the best spot is turn 15 to watch the race (saw the Moto 2 races here)...here comes the snake of riders!

  4. Managed to replace the lower fuel vapor hoses today which attach to the throttle bodies, a bit of a challenge getting a hand wedged in the middle on the left hand side to release them from the plastic T-section and twist off the tubing...which was heat rotted and cracked on both sides and quite stiff.  Virtually impossible to reach this from the right hand side.

First set of replacement tubes I had purchased were inadvertently vacuum hoses instead of fuel line and just a shade too large on inner diameter, when I looked at what was on there originally it was labelled fuel line, so I replaced those and they snug on perfectly to the T and throttle bodies.  Oddly enough though, after replacing these lines, I don't really notice the bike running any differently...not better or worse.

Have managed to file down the nuts on the Napoleon mirrors, now to shave down some of the plastic so I can rubber mallet these mirrors into the bars...easy enough to remove the existing bar end weights.  Have to do all that tomorrow and then take it for a spin up to watch Moto GP on Sunday in Austin.

  5. God no Chuck...I wasn't going to suggest roping you into cooking that much!! Figured you might have one slip in a side bag to be shared surreptitiously around the camp fire!! Shoot...I'll bring a chilled bottle of the yellow stuff to pass run around!

  6. Wow...what a collection you've got going there now Scud, must be difficult to figure out which one to take out every day now!

If you need space to work on the Greenie, I'll be happy to take Darth Vader out of the garage for a bit for a trip around the block!

    Scura, Greenie, Champagne, Reddie

All you need now is a Limoncello V11 and you've got a full house!

  7. ProGrips installed super easy on the Scuzzi...still waiting on the others to arrive just to feel the tactile differences, just for grins I also ordered a set of aluminum/rubber in Ohlins yellow to see if they would match (haven't arrived yet), but I'm very happy with the ProGrips = same as on my Norge and they are miles better than the original ones here.  I looked at all my other grips I had ordered, definitely came with either 2 7/8 diameter grips or 2 1 inch diameter grips, so I'm guessing they were for Moto Cross or other application, but not the appropriate ones...at any rate, off to the donation pile they go.

Now to the next question...I had ordered also a set of Napoleon bar end mirrors...all ready to install them today and take the Scura for a spin, and when I try to do so, the screw that comes with them is significantly larger in diameter than what current holds the bar ends on.  So...either I have ordered the wrong ones, or I just go and find some long bolts with the same original diameter and thread pattern and then perhaps a metal sleeve to insert as well to take up the slack?

Have others Napoleons fitted directly w/o any need for modification to the screw provided with the mirror!

    Merci du part de Napoleon!

  8. Sweet, will check with MG shortly then.

A black face oil thermometer/dipstick!  What more can a Scura owner ask for!!   Imagine, if it showed the oil level as 3/4 or 2/3 full on the same face as the temp it would be even more impressive!

  9. Scud...sounds like I should invest in one of these as well since I'll be keeping the Scura for a long time.  Does your bike already have it installed?

Kindly advise best way to get payment to you (Paypal I presume).  Many thanks to Pete as well for the development of this improved design.

Unfortunately since MPH here in Houston is closed, can you advise the part # for the gasket(s), and I'll see if I can get it from AF1 in Austin.  Presumably the exact same gasket as the original one?

    Thanks!

    Paul

  10. Interesting, the last 3 sets of grips I was experimenting with and trying out were sized the same for both in the box, so I ended up having to buy 2 pairs of them before buying the ProGrips (thanks Chuck...these are good) to get the right size for each side for the Norge.  Even with some gel soap, it was quite an effort to get them on.  Once on, just perfect.

I'll dig out the boxes of the other grips I had bought before finding the ProGrips, almost done unpacking the garage from the recent move.

I'll order a set of the grips recommended above and see how those work out on the Scura, interesting those do say they have a different inner diameter for each side.  Clearly I've been buying grips from the wrong places!

    Thanks guys as always!!

  11. Hopefully an easy question for the Scura/V11 Masters....

Are the grips on the Scura the same internal diameter size for left and right (obviously no heated grips, so I don't have that to worry about)?  On my Norge the diameters are different, so before I strip off the current ones, would like to verify.

Curious also what other folks have put on if you have re-gripped your bike, any recommendations to compare to.

Personally I like a softer, slightly spongier feel with an even diameter across the entire grip, what's on their now is fairly hard and bowed out in the middle, narrower on the ends.

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Hi BBolesaz...I'm just back now visiting here on this side again since I was spending a little time on Wildguzzi, I see you're #599!  Good call on the Scuzi license plate as well!  Scuzzi...mi Scusi per mi Scuzi!!

Guzzistajohn is also on WildGuzzi (great guy, I met him last year in Cedar Vale), have you tried PM'ing him?  If you and Scud are inclined to visit JJ and the boys in Cottonwood for the Arizona NAR and then boogie out to Kansas for the Cedar Vale NAR rally, we could host a mini Scura reunion!

Nice pic by the way...bike looks like it's in excellent shape indeed!

    Cheers!

    Paul
