  1. Oh and as far a riding safely... in my 20+ years of driving professionally I can say that if it’s your time, it’s your time. I’ve seen things happen out here I wish I didn’t.

Safe drivers, drunk drivers, criminals you name it. I have no fear when I ride. If my ticked gets punched... that’s it. See y’all on the other side....

  2. Can’t you sue them in small claims and avoid the insurance altogether? Michigan is a “no fault” State I’m not sure how it is in your neck of the woods. I know I wouldn’t want my title messed with.

  3. Those kinds of situations happen often. I see plenty of examples of people making some very bad decisions. Because we weren’t there to see exactly what happened, I don’t think it’s fair to judge.

Skill levels, years of experience, road conditions are just a few variables at work. I used to street race my Ducati and more often then not, someone would dump their bike.

I watched a chick on a CBR run straight into the woods. Never even tried making the turn. Pilots do it too. Target fixation I think? Instead of looking at where you want to be, they look right where they are.

If it was me, I’d just fix it myself. Less then $1,000 imo. Insurance companies are not your friends. Warren Buffett didn’t create a empire paying out claims....

  4. Air boxes were designed to meet noise levels. Most motorcycles up until the government stepped in, used open intakes without filters or “rock catchers” screens. Induction noise was the reason.

Atmospheric pressure without the aid of turbo and or supercharging will not be a significant factor with or without a box.

Ram air style ducts and what have you work at speeds on race tracks. The average street rider wouldn’t notice anything. Some people swear by them, others don’t....

  5. I don't remember where I read it, Dr. John was very particular about his name being used. He did have plans to do more with Guzzi IIRC DeTomaso was in failing health and they pretty much shut down the racing program. The Daytona is really a very special part of Guzzi history. These are, IMO much more then just a name slapped on the side.  I want one to park in my House........

  6. My Forks are going to Holland! Isn't that viert?  The big upgrade is now in effect. They use the Forks as a template to build the new ones. The internals will be Mupo CSP30-R‘s

This old girl is going to have the best front end currently available to the general public!

Massive front end diet planned with these Forks, Magnesium Triple Clamps, Sicom Rotors and OZ Racing Wheel.

  7. I was thinking between the lining and carbon, that tank shouldn’t move. I also bought a roll of Teknofibra 4mm flexible thermal barrier to line the underside since you can’t get the factory stuff anymore. Besides this is much better and probably overkill but it’s okay. I don’t care.  I try to stick with top tier fuels (Shell V Power) and run a mix of that and 110 race fuel.

seems like a fair price. that's a 'before' liner photo?

I have all the parts I need to install it now, so that'll be the next project.

  9. I do.. it’s here: Scura Build my love affair with MV started when I was 16 and went to Italy to live with my Uncle. He had two daughters, no sons. I went as sort of a surrogate to help him with his business.

He is also a big motorcycle nut and one day he took me to a warehouse where he kept all his bikes and cars. He had a MV and a old military Guzzi among all the other stuff.

My life changed when he fired that MV up. I never heard anything like that. It was nuts. I fell in love. Of course I never had the chance to ride anything.. he turned out to be a petty Mussolini type. So after almost a year of indentured service I left and went to  West Germany.

All these years later my cousin calls me and tells me about a old man who had passed away and his family was selling off his things. One of those things was a 750 MV he had dismantled and it’s still in pieces.

I have it here, it’s missing some stuff and I’ve been in contact with Magni about getting the chain drive, and a set of those lovely pipes.

At the end of the day, my wish is to have a Magni Guzzi and my MV sitting together.

  10. No, it’s in the Centauro I bought from a dealer in Florida. I live in Michigan, he was storing it for me till he sold the place and the new guy said “get it outta here” so now she’s home.  It sat for quite awhile, took a bit of fiddling with it, but she runs really well for 21,000 miles showing on the clock.

The bigger bearing is a Dynotec mod. I wanted to ship the engine there to have them build it. I was quoted $1,200 to Germany and I assume about the same back.  So I am looking here for options.

I’ve owned a couple very fast motorcycles in my day.
    IMG-1193.jpg

Thats Eraldo Ferracci and I working on my brand new Tamburini F4. He got her making big power. There was some special parts from MV in that bike that they used in subsequent models. The F4CC is one I know uses the same cams.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of selling it when MV was in trouble. I have no idea where she is now. I never could sort it out. It was hard to control and it was unruly.

Amazingly beautiful and god awful fast... Jesus...you whack the throttle on that, you best have your things In order.  So really, it’s not that I need nor want that again. An extra 30-50 horses will give me all the artillery I need. Btw, I love those Australia’s.. I seen one for sale and almost..... almost... but I have another MV I’m going to start messing with once my Guzzi is done.

  11. I’ve read the heads on these hi cams get very hot. My plan was to have them coated with Swain Tech high-tech coatings

He is the original developer of ceramic coatings and I’m still trying to figure out how to do that and send it off.  I spoke with Charlie Pro 1 Racing Heads and he is interested in doing the work. V twins are V twins and there isn’t a bunch of complications involved in a Guzzi engine.

I am really interested in his Q 4 Head technology. I think a combination of that and high tech coatings. We can get this engine running pretty strong. I like short stroke over-square engines in general. We could do the 100mm bore and leave the crank as is, that’ll get you 1225cc.

I do like the idea of bigger crank bearings. Since you have yours all buttoned up I suppose I’ll be the one to try.

Strangely it shows being for sale at the same place I bought my Scura on consignment from. Now I understand why things were less then a pleasant experience as the owner just passed away. Their website isn’t active and that’s a real shame as they have some absolute gems sitting there.

  13. I also wanted to incorporate some cool period aftermarket items. Seeing as how those are becoming a rarity nowadays, I’ve been busy scrounging around the internet looking for neat stuff.

I have those head guards from Rossopuro and just yesterday I ordered a “Special Reaction Rod” from Stucchi. I had plans of doing something out of crazy unobtainaum but I think this will be just as cool in the end.

  14. Thanks @docc!! Good stuff! And yea, come hell or high water... I really would like to finally get the chance to meet some of you guys at the SSR. I’m keeping the Scura whole and just doing the little bit I can till she goes in for her heart transplant. It’s now been pushed back till winter of ‘22.

So I have this summer & next to get the engine sent off and returned. Maybe get at least the front suspension all together. I have some plans concerning the rear, I’m waiting to hear back.

  15. It’s my theory that we as a species have yet to come to terms in dealing with information overload. Considering knowledge used to be kept very close to the vest by those who pull the levers of power. A complete and now fully established religion developed predicated on a single individuals intimate knowledge that no one else was privy to.

The pendulum has not yet reached its arc, now we can be, and are inundated 24/7 by information. The ability or lack of, to determine what’s wheat and what’s chaff is what needs to be settled.

In any population, a percentage will posses more intelligence and they will cater to the ones who are not as gifted. That cascades into every level of social interaction so readily evident in forums like this, Twitter Facebook et al.

Free speech was and is a bedrock principle on which this Country was founded. That comes with the tact understanding that you or I may not agree. Dissent and the open exchange of ideas is how we become a more whole and just society.

As we are Human and prone to malice, that has been utilized in today’s hyper saturated communications orgy currently going non stop. Propaganda is what we should all flatly show zero tolerance towards. Appeasement will never be looked upon with the grace in which it was given, but in fact as a sign of weakness.
