  1. That works out to approximately 58 ftlbs... looking at standard torque charts, that’s in the ballpark. I didn’t bother doing that. I went by feel and a dab of medium lock tite on those bolts when switching plates. I would say that I don’t think those 18mm nuts were designed to be loosened & tightened back up regularly. Have you seen this?: Griso Shop Stand Mk I
  2. That’s actually a QD Exhaust I traded for. I did have a set of Ticon Industries race mufflers. Those are very loud and sounded super mean. This by contrast is not. I’m still thinking about the final system. I have a very rare pair of Tubi mufflers from Ghezzi and Brian sitting at home.
  3. That’s correct. As long as you support it and make sure the weight is off, it’s pretty easy. That big nut, you’ll want to mark/count the threads and when you bolt on the new one ( that marking paint I sent you @docc is what I used ) screw it down to the same point. I haven’t had the bike to a shop since to check / adjust it for being perfectly square... She seems no worse for wear and I ride it quite “sportingly” as my neighbors around the lake can begrudgingly agree. I’m sure they are happy with my more subdued exhaust also :)
  4. I didn’t like the red frame plates on my Scura. I found a set of grey ones and I did the switch at home with basic hand tools. It’s not that hard. I made measurements and marked the threads. She’s back together and I’ve not had any problems. My advice, pre soak any bolt you plan on removing and take all the time needed. I don’t work on my Moto for money, so I spent the better part of a Saturday doing it.
  5. Super big Thank You to @fotoguzzi for the valve covers! TLM had a few sets and I was caught up doing other stuff and forgot. Quickly remembered when I spied the messed up one and sure as heck, they are sold out.... Its confirmed, Its being shipped to Germany and Dynotec is going to rebuild it. https://fsaei3upos2uq3vamu7bqdyfae-ac5fdsxevxq4s5y-www-dynotec-de.translate.goog/modelle/Dynotec Guzzilla V13 Racing.html
  6. I do the same, I run Shell 93 and dump in about a gallon or so of 108 race fuel. I’ve not heard of carbon buildup using premium. I just emptied the can of the expensive stuff in my Centauro and let her take a couple chugs... she perked right up.
  7. I’m thinking the boy may not see very many of those (in real life)
  8. Yes he does, I have a new oil pump and gears sitting in my Pile ‘O Parts... It was about $1,200
  9. That would be extra cool. Please pm me with the particulars!
  10. I do have Joe Caruso’s oil pump and timing gears sitting in the pile ‘o parts. I wasn’t bad mouthing the engine, just that the bike is a far cry from what I was expecting. I have some plans for it, that’s why I bought this bike. I’m not going to run around on it. I put about 70 miles on it getting a feel for it. She needs a good tune up, it’s been neglected. I know it should run much better then it does now. Now that I have it in my greasy, dirty paws I can start to formulate my dastardly plans!!
  11. True, if I seemed a little disappointed it’s only because I could have bought a much better conditioned bike for the same $$ I don’t feel as bad taking this one apart now. I should be able to get some money back selling off the parts I don’t need. It is cool tooling around in a 4v... too bad your average man on the street has no clue what that is.. most of the time it’s “A guzzi! Annnd stories about how back in the 70’s.....”
  12. @Chuck You were correct, it is indeed a '97 titled as a '98. Well, its a Centauro....That's about the only truthful statement made by the dealer. It's in poor condition. Got to give them credit for the expert photo's that failed to show the flaws. After fiddling with it and a new battery, she does run. Looks like it fell into disrepute the last number of years which is a shame really. It looks better in person. Flushed the tank as best i could and filled it with high octane and a can of Berrymans. Bottom line is i needed this engine for my project and it runs and drives. I've rode it about 50 miles? Strange bike, certainly if this was something i would keep wholesale change would take place. Convert it to a Daytona... I see now why it was controversial, not really a cruiser nor sporting bike. Hmmmm..... Custom cracked crossover Does have the upgraded chip This was especially annoying... Ohh boy......at this point I'm just happy it runs and goes down the road. Certainly paid waaay too much for it. Live and learn........
  13. That’s the rub with the web. Lots and lots of good information, but once it’s dated you are SOL. I was looking at picking up some tune up parts for my V10 and there was a google link to this post from years ago. I was interested in those stock appearing wires and I thought to update the thread. Finding parts for this old girl is even more challenging then a V11..... Hmmmmm......
  14. Since it’s that time of year and I stumbled across this post. https://us.gsparkplug.com/1x-champion-spark-plug-cap-pro5m-red.html?gltm_campaign=pr_r&gltm_source=https://www.gsparkplug.com/&gltm_medium=wi_proxy&gltm_content=en_GB&gltm_term=a
  15. I was going off the title I just picked up from the post office. The shipping company called me and said she’ll be here Wednesday or Thursday. Together Chuck, we shall delve into this mystery machine and reveal its secrets! Plus I’ll post a bunch of pics and a video!
  16. It’s titled as a ‘98, looks like this person bought it in 2013. So the one owner story isn’t true.... Hmmm... well as long as she runs I’m not too worried about it.
  17. It's a neat bit of kit that everyone should have in the tool box. I was skeptical at first because I was taught once they start leaking, the only fix was a rebuild. I can say that my Fork leg is still dry. I've been more then pleased considering that tool was just a few bucks. Probably one of, if not the most cost effective repairs one can do. You are welcome Docc!
  18. No, this is a different engine. This was developed with Dr. John for racing. Using the in block cam as a lay shaft to drive a set of belts to operate the four valve heads. IIRC, displacement was kept at 992cc to meet at the time race regulations. The 1062 2V makes about the same horsepower. These Centauro’s were essentially Daytona’s with pull back bars and the striking bodywork. Guzzi was ahead of the power cruiser segment... Because of that, you can pick one of these up for roughly half of what Daytona’s are going for. Didn’t sell very well as the Bike is very controversial in design. Although I would argue that it’s aged quite well vs other bikes of the period. Guzzi dropped the 4V and the 1100 Sport used the 2v. Not until some years later did they bring this old 4v back for a brief period and now they use a new 4v engine that’s not a evolution of this, but a completely different engine.
  19. I believe it’s a ‘98... I should be getting the title in the mail in the next few days. I honestly can’t remember...it wasn’t a big deal to me, as far as I know there wasn’t much if any changes to the hard parts. Just variations of the same theme.. I’m using this engine for my V11. Not sure what we will do with the 2v engine and this bike once we are done. I’ll know for sure as I need to find out what kind of electronics are in it. I’ve been tossing around the idea of pulling the injection and going carbs. Never expected this to be a mega horsepower project. I’m past that for the street. I’ve had my share of those and they are not as fun on the road. It’s more of the historical quality and race heritage of the original 4v... Picked this up as a consignment from a ex Moto Guzzi turned Vespa dealer in Daytona Beach Florida. Allegedly a one owner from what I remember as I made this deal last year.
  20. Finally getting my donor Centauro delivered sometime this week. Should be fun to check out and take for a spin. The parts pile has been growing exponentially! Sorry I haven’t been on here a lot. Been working hard and I have a couple of other non Moto projects also.
