1. I can only guess that the Stucchi will help.

I don't think anybody with the front balance pipe, has done a before and after dyno with the Stucchi crossover.

Most of us were turned on to the value of the Stucchi crossover, because of Doug Lofgren's dyno results at:

    http://www.manleycycle.com/Tech.htm#MotoGuzzi

FBF also makes a nice crossover.

Speaking of the devil: Is there anybody out there who can tell the difference between Stucchi and Ferracci x-overs or is it just a matter of the eyes of the beholder? Pros and cons?

I am about to purchase the FBF kit (cans, x-over, airfilter) + PC III with the relevant maps so please advice.

    Thanks in advance

...and sorry for our bad Italian, Frankie :D

Welcome onboard - and congrats to you for a fine looking bike!

  3. I assume metal bodywork is for anorexic 8 stone weaklings who find the power to weight ratio of their V11 too much to handle and want to calm things down a bit!!

  4. As an ex-bicycle racer I know exactly what Fernando is talking about. I used to cover at least 17.000 km/10.000 miles a year in my racing days, so my Wiener has been numb on several occassions.

Actually one of my racing pals from back then tried the bra-looking seat but he only rode it a couple of times, 'cos everybody was giving him a lot of stick. I´ve tried all kinds of bicycle saddles - gel vs. leather, synthetic vs. ergonomic and what have you, but I ended up with a leather saddle from Italian manufactorer, Selle Italia (which means - yeah, I think you got it). When I changed bikes (I had 4 bikes - one alloy and one titatnium for racing, one MTB as well as one winterbike) I always used the same saddle. I still have it, actually, and it's at least 15-16 years old now.

To cut a long story short I just wanted to state that we all have to adapt to our own physionomics/ergonomics. If the saddle works for Fernando then it's good. Furthermore I would like to echo that I also find it positive that Fernando shares his story with us all - who knows, it could be you or me that ends up in the same situation as Fernando, and you don't joke about prostate cancer!

    Enough said.

  5. Nice one! I reckon Wales has the best roads in Britain, and they are reasonably accessible to the majority of UK riders. Shame about the attitude of some of the police though!!!

Lasy year I did a run on a newly tarmaced road heading away from Machynlleth towards Strata Florida in mid Wales. I believe the locals nickname it the Welsh TT and it was one of my best rides of the summer- empty and twisty and mountainous!

    :drink:

    41013

I've also heard some horror stories about Wales´ finest, who don't seem to appreciate motorcycles.

Other than that Wales seems to be one of the finest places to ride - smooth roads, great tarmac. The British Superbike magazine favour Wales and France when it comes to test rides.

  6. Hi Tim,

Thanks for the nice pics,. Thanks to you I just got myself a brand new (and free) wallpaper for my computer

No sleet and snow in Denmark as we speak, but we just got through a couple of storms/hurricanes, which unfortunately craved 4 lives.

Still waitng for the calender to say 01 March as that's the day when I can run my bike again. If you choose to run your bike between 01 December and 01 March here in Denmark you'll have to pay beaucoup $$$ for insurance.

  7. Hi Phil,

I experienced the same as you albeit on my old CB 1100 Honda waaaay back in the 80'ies. We were travelling in the Pyrenees, so my story is equivalent to yours.

I don't have an PC-III on my Scura but it's something I will purchase along with FBF cans, FBF x-over and FBF airfilter.

    Good luck with your update.

  8. As the owner of a slobbering, drooling beast I know exactly how you feel, Dave.

I too had to put my old rottie, Samson, to sleep 5 years ago and there's no macho over you afterwards when you sit in your car with an empty leash.

Luckily I still have Herman the German, who's sitting with his big fat head on my left thigh right now.

Please accept my condolences and cheer up, mate.

PS: Tx, you're a sick man (but I really laughed my ass off :D )

Yihah! Great shots, Jan. I'm glad that you have captured Holger Aue's bike, that's a rolling history book!

For those of you who don't know Holger or the story about his bike I can inform you that his old Le Mans has close to 200.000 km on the meter, puts out an astonishing 110 (+) bhp and is used for racing as well as commuting.

Holger Aue is also the progenitor of this well known picture:

Jan, could you upload my OIT 2004 pics to World-of-Guzzi.de or make a link?

    Thanks in advance

  11. I like that shop. the scooters are cool and everone should have one of those Benelli's as a play bike. Have you checked out the Daytona for sale?

    40770

    Hi Jim,

Yep, actually I had some dirty plans with it, but my ever lovely wife twisted my arm on the back and forced me to buy a new bike. I have previously ridden a Harley and I guess she was fed up with spare parts lying all over the house, a fresh painted gas tank on her pillow and so on. :D You should see her face when she found the gas tank.....

The Daytona is pretty nice, but it would take some rebuilding. I would opt for another fork, new rims, another seat and then, if I won in the national lottery, ship the engine to Dynotec in Germany for a severe overhaul.

The price tag would probably come to the equivalence of a new Rosso Corsa, but I really like that 4-valve head - why in God's name didn't Mandello continue with it?

    Søren

  12. Blimey! Sound a bit scary - I just turned mine in for a repaint job! :homer:

I must say however, that I have confidence in the job being done so far by my dealer here in Copenhagen Italian Bike Store and the bike is furthermore under warranty, so I can't really see, why I should be arsed by a DIY job.

Good to hear though that there are some trusted dealerships around your neighbourhood.

Good luck! (and also to myself, I suppose :D )

    Søren

  13. Soren,

    Are you going there?

    When is this event?

    Is the Scura your bike?

    Ciao, Antonio

The Ostsee Italo Treffen coincided with Jaap's V11 event (10-12 September), which I originally signed up for. Unfortunately I had to fly to the States on Sunday 12th, so I didn't really see myself driving to The Netherlands on Friday and then return Saturday afternoon -a 1500-1600 km trip, roughly.

Nonetheless, I had mentally prepared for a weekend trip, so I went to Kiel on Saturday instead as it's only a 900 (+) km return trip.

The rally site is found on the shores of the Kieler canal in a forrest area and there's a very nice and friendly atmosphere. Furthermore it's dead cheap: how about a 6 Euro entrance fee? The only flipside was the piss, poor weather - it was raining cats and dogs like it would never stop!

If you check this thread (in German only, unfortunately, but I guess that you Cloggies are fluent in that language :P ) it will lead you to the German MC club, which hosts the rally. The 2004 rally took place 10-12 September so I assume that this year's rally will take place within the same timeframe.

Martin: I also fancy the Le Mans you mention - it was absolutely gorgeous.

And yes, the Scura is mine.

Glad for the positive responses :)

    Best regards

    Søren

  14. Steve,

Despite the sick traffic laws Norway is an absolutely gobsmacking beautiful country. The scenary is a lot like what you see in i.e. Canada with lots of mountains and fjords. The roads are all very well maintained so there's no excuse for not getting there.

Oh well, Norway comes with a price tag: How about 200 Norwegian Kroner (equivalent to 35 US dollars!!!) for a pizza? That's the price for a normal size pizza in Oslo on the main street. True!

    Søren

  15. Ciao guys!

I have finally managed to upload my pics from the Italo Bike Treffen 2004 in Kiel, Germany. Please checkout this link to my webshots and press "my photos"

    Enjoy!

    Søren

PS: Pardon the sick comments to the pictures but I just couldn't resist.

    PPS: Hope it works now!

  16. That will be Carlsberg........ :bbblll:  :bbblll:  :bbblll:

I guess you've never taste Belgium beer???

    40343

I drink to that Antonio. Nothing beats Belgian beer - the best in the world!

Trust me, I lived there for three years and I never even managed to get through half the brands they have. Strong, powerful and tasty.

    Skål! :bier:

  17. That's bloody typical! My computer is down for a week due to a software failure and what happens? Another friggin' Dane invades this homepage :D

Remember the viking days when we used to rape, plunder and pillage? Guess we haven't conquered anything since then, but we still have the memories.

Oh, what the heck - welcome onboard Jens. You'll find this homepage very valuable in your search for all kind of tech topics and what have you. I'm also searching for the perfect exhaust pipe mods for my Scura so you're not alone.

    Best regards

    Søren

PS: And don't bother about TX - we all try to keep him on a short leash :P
