Come on, Jim! Give it up. You're too old to believe in Santa, aren't you?
Jokes aside I'll keep all my fingers crossed that you eventually will get your MGS this Christmas (Hurry up Santa! Jim is WAITING!!)

PS: Great pics, Paul

Freddy,
Take a look at The Tank Shop - some really nice fairings and looks like they can make pretty much whatever you want .....
Ken
From my Harley days I can only recommend The Tank Shop. I haven't purchased any products from them myself but I've seen many fine bikes at various rallies, predominantly with their petrol tanks.
I personally like the old Manx look, like this Guzzi is trying to pretend. Alloy and carbon parts go fine hand in hand if you ask for my humble opinion.
Cheers

I've heard stories from people flying Aeroflot that you'll get coffee served in plastic cups with teeth marks on'em from the previous customers......
In my NATO days (1993-1996) I travelled up to 120 days a year so I learned a lot about air line companies throughout the world. Flying THY (Turkish Airlines) is an experience that you'll have to experience yourselves. It doesn't matter whether you're in a "non smoking" section as everybody, no matter where they are seated, is lightning up their damned cigarettes (and we're talking the black Turkish tobacco here - no light stuff for the Turks, thank you!) as soon as the plane is up in the air. Furthermore they all applause, when the skipper puts the bird down again....thought it was his job, but who am I to tell??
SAS (Scandinavian) has by far the poorest luggage handling, at least here in Copenhagen. It's quite common that you'll have to stay put for 30 minutes or more before your luggage shows up. It's frigging annoying, when you have been travelling for half a day and the only thing you really want is to go back home to your wife and family.
The list is endless and this is a motorcycle forum so I'll shut up now. I guess it's safer to take the bike - at least it's more fun! Can't wait for the bloody snow to disappear..

PS: It seems to me that the video cut from Tex has been manipulated.

Hi Haiiro99 and welcome to the forum,
Good luck with the soon to come V11 - I just turned mine in for 10.000 km inspection + hibernation for the winter

Hi Dave,
Sorry to hear that. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What the dyno does not show is the torque from idle to 3000rpms.
I used to be able to cruise at 2500 rpms where now I have to down shift to get 3000 rpms.
The Quat D muffler does not create less overall power, it just moves the power down in the rpms.
Below 4500 RPMs it is stronger and in the twisties, there is less shifting.
But if you want to go over 130MPH the Mistrals do it much more easily.
Jason and Dave,
Thanks for your contributions - I think (??) it's decision time now and with Dave's comments fresh in mind I'll probably head for the Quat-D system.
Speed limits in Denmark are 50/80/110 kmp/h (130 on some parts of the highway) so I think the Quat -D will do the trick as for better torque and power at low end RPM.
I also favour the looks of the Quat over the Mistrals as everybody and his brother is riding with slip-on carbon fibre end cans here in Denmark.
Thanks a bunch - I owe you a

Hi Al,
Thanks for helping the blind to see.
Motorcycle riders here in Denmark are all frenzy about PC III; if you haven't got one you may as well apply for the leading role in the next Jurassic Park movie (version IV, V??) D
I do know that my Scura will never outpower any Japanese 600 cc bike but I'm still seeking a bit more grunt as well as horsepower. The easiest way (and cheapest, too) is to go on a slim-fast diet or follow the Atkins programme for the next two years but with Christmas coming up soon I won't advocate for that.
Heck, I'm confused now, it's close to midnight here in Denmark so I'll sleep on it.
Once again, Al, thanks for elaborating on the topic and sharing your thoughts!
Cheers

My wife has been bugging me about what I want for Christmas so I asked for a new helmet - there's nothing wrong with the Shoei that I have but I figure why not go for broke and get an Arai. I didn’t realize that they were quite *that* expensive but seeing as she hates the fact that I ride anyhow, she said yes.
The question is – are they worth the money? The old Bell slogan used to be “If you have a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet” I guess my head is worth $900 (to me, anyhow) but it seems to be a fairly large quantum leap between good quality and Arai – enough to pay for a new PCIII in fact.
Does anyone wear an Arai and is it worth the extra money?
Cheers
Phil
Hi Phil,
Just my two cents: Yup, I love it. But as, i.e. Janusz states, it's all up to to you in the end. Does the helmet fit? Is there enough room for your glasses? (don't forget to check it!!!) and so on.
Good luck!

No, it won't require you to get a PCIII. I have K&N's/Stucchi/Mistrals, and I don't have PCIII. The bike runs just fine. Yes, it could probably be improved a bit more with an accessory brain, but they run ok without. One of these days I'd like to do the experiment.
The QuatD is pretty loud- I saw a guy with one at the Minnesota rally this summer. It's loud- just a little moreso than the Mistrals, but not by much. The sound was more 'raspy' though. Not as pleasant to the ears.
J
Thanks Jason, nothing beats experience!
I'm really in favour of other people's riding experiences rather than a written statement from the manufactorer - paper is grateful, unfortunately.
Another alternative (cheap one, though) could be the standard Lafranconis (Scura) with a pair of KN filters and, maybe, a PC III?
I'm a bit puzzled about the PC III. Is it the Eight Wonder of the World or is it just another gadget that has been succesfully launched by the manufactorer? If it's so bloody brilliant why isn't it standard equipment on all motorcycles throughout the world?
Am I just and old fart who doesn't understand the latest trends and should be left barefooted and naked in my cave? (you don't have to respond to the latter, thank you! )
Regards Søren

Hmm, sounds like the system is as noisy as a controlled fart at a family reunion?
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not a big fan of 2" slash cut straight pipes as the Harley people seem to love so much. To me there's a distinction between sound and noise and there's absolutely no reason to go down the street with a 110 db exhaust system that will draw every police officer's attention from miles away. What I prefer is the deep gutural roarrrrr.........

I'd actually be curious to know how the weight of the Quat-D system compares to other aftermarket cans, like a pair of slip-on Leo Vince/Mistral/FBF etc cans
I wonder because these examples all probably save 15-ish pounds alone as well, and I bet the big metal box of the Quat-D isn't light as a feather.
I suspect(although I could be wrong) as a system, a good pair lightweight aftermarket cans offers about the same weight savings of the Quat-D system.
al
Hi Al,
I received this info from Ghezzi & Brian regarding the Quat-D exhaust system. I must say, that I like the looks of the GB system, but I'll always prefer function over form, if you know what I mean. There's no real reason to add a system that doesn't improve neither torque nor power as someone previously stated in another thread. On the other hand if both Paul Minnaert and the Dynotec chaps use the system on their Daytonas it should be possible to squeeze some additional ponies out of the old slagger
I'm standing in the middle of the stream: Should I go for the Quat-D or the Mistrals with Stucchi X-over? I'm well aware that both systems require a PC III and a pair of KN filters. The Quat system will set you back 640 Euros, I assume that the Mistrals and X-over will be slightly more expensive (but I want some ponies, geddit?)

Yep, I'll vote for that, too. I had 3 weeks of beautyful sun in Luberon this summer (near the Mount Ventoux) and the scenary down there is second to none. The locals drive like they've stolen both motorcycles and drivers licence. It's amazing how they drive on the narrow roads on their super motards, preferably KTM
Can't really complain about the food and the wine either...

Hi Andy,
Yup, sure it does. Thanks!

Well Ken, why not run a poll? I think it would be great if we all could see what everybody was riding. I'm still on BT 020 but I'm not overwhelmly impressed.

si1100,
I had an unrelated problem with a 2003 Rosso Corsa I bought late August - its been back several times and finally I wrote a letter to the dealer to state that if they didn't get it fixed I would pursue a claim to return the bike as unfit for purpose. I would need to take legal advice if I did pursue this route, but it seems to have conentrated thier efforts anyway and they took the bike back in and stripped it down properly - I just heard today the new parts are on order so hopefully the issue will get reolved this time, if not then I am resolved to try to return the bike and get my money back - I bought the bike to have fun and so far have had mostly hassle and little use - having said that I love the bike and really hope they fix it.
I would guess if you can get several people together that have the same issue you should be able to get Guzzi's attention - the people on this forum are probably thier most loyal customers and I don't think they have such a broad base that they can afford to ignore us - I am on my 3rd Guzzi and most people stick with them but once you move to something else I would suspect they have lost a customer for a long time, if not for good.
Ken
Yup Ken, united we stand.
I've previously tried to call all V11 ownes but to to no avail.
Wake up chaps. It's time to unite!

Al, you're a wise man - why didn't you run for president?
No, jokes aside, you're absolutely right. It's a pain in the neck, that you have to spend time asking for locations (I had to PM someone who had a thread on "classified" only to find out he was living here in Europe)
So lads and lassies - get your in gear and do what the man says, pretty please with sugar on top, or I'll persuade Tex to come up with a new nude picture!

Hello folks,
I found this thread on the Danish Guzzi Club homepage.
Before you spam me down I'm well aware this is a V11 homepage, but it's always fun to read (at least I think so) other people's trip reports. Heck, you may even be able to persuade CINCHOUSE that you just have to get those Oxford bags you've been asking for for the last month or so.
Enjoy

Hi Doc,
Welcome the big world wide family of V11 owners.

Hi PAul,
I'll just echo what TX and Al have already said. It's great that people like yourself can create such a beautyful triple tree. The remainder, like myself , we can only sit back and watch the maestro at work.
As Al says: "I wish I had time, money, and access to a machine shop like that".
I will take a step further and add "I wish I had the skills".
Going down memory lane I remember my Hardley Dangerous days, where I always had to turn to my friends who were certified welders, mechanics and so on, 'cos I didn't want to buy any of the bolt-on stuff, that companies like Zodiac, Custom Chrome etc. had to offer. It was more expensive yes, but also a greater satisfaction for me. I hate when you see a spitting image of your bike parked in front of every McDonald's in Copenhagen as you often see the dozens of Fireblades, R1's und so weiter.
Good job!

Scan Tool Question...

Hi Slug,
I'm not a computer whizz kid myself, but I have previously seen Dave Laing refer to this site. I think Dave is the man to talk to.
Dave, are you there? Stop eating and get back to work now!
I've also been looking at various exhaust systems, but I haven't yet made up my mind. I'm having doubt whether I should go for the Quat-D or a FBF with X-over, airbox eliminator kit and a PC-III. I'll probably head for the latter as I want more power.
Post the pics as soon as you're ready and good luck with the baaad Gooser
Cheers
