    broken shock eye

pasotibbs mine went the same way last year, luckily I got a replacement under warranty only mine wasn't corroded and the bike hadn't been used in winter. Best cure, buy a rosso corsa with ohlins. where about in sheffield are you, up for a run out some time ? 3. Your right 95 C, 95F would be very sick hahahaha
  4. Greg, how much are the thermo dipsticks, do they ship to the UK. Had one years ago on a 2000 v11 and it was useful for keeping an eye on the temp when touring europe, In spain in heavy traffic had it upto 120 F but surprisingly dropped quickly once under way. In the UK summer ha hah ha , very rarely budged above 95 F even after a couple of hours on the road. Never had the flickering oil light on the 2000 v11 or the lemans.
  5. Couldn't do with struggling so I just whipped the back wheel out, and whilst I was in there greased the wheel bearings cleaned out the back brake
  6. mayo in the rocker box is due to temp. 13 miles is not very far to get the oil up to full temp to burn off condensation. I used to have a oil temp dipstick on the last guzzi and it took about30 miles to get up to temp in the so called summer. I would also drop the sump you might find a build up of sludge in the inlet filter on the oil pickup

    fuel tank QR

Thanks guys, came off with a battle, not a lot of room to get my big mitts in. Had to drain the tank, once uncoupled petrol leaked from the tank
  8. how do you disconnect the fuel pipe quick release without breaking the plastic elbows off the tank, they don't appear to be very strong Does the tank need draining down or will they self seal on removal Dave
  9. Thanks Aaron parts arrived this morning, a project for this afternoon I think Dave
  10. I find my very comfortable, once the bars controls etc adjusted to suit. Knocks spots off the VFR I had, I could only manage 200 miles on the VFR. Best I have managed is 14hrs 985miles to Austria in one go. Normal use is out for the day for 250 -300 miles I strongly suggest a long test ride not a quick whizz round the block, they tend to grow on you Dave
  11. sent my application off this morning Make a change from the usual bike haunts, plus I have a mate who has just come back to biking and wants an excuse to do some miles ( furthest hes been though is 100 miles in a day ) in at the deep end Lets hope for a decent summer Dave
  12. Ratchethack no offense taken, I was just arsed off that something straight forward went belly up. Ended up stripping the hole lot out for a look see, slave cylinder is fine, but seeing as I was there stripped cleaned and resealed Master cyclinder was gummed up and not allowing the piston to return correctly, that also been resealed, bleed the system off bike appears ok now I have had this sort of problem before when someone filled the brake system on one of my bikes with silicone fluid, who knows just the stripped thread on the bevel box to sort, I sometimes wonder what gorillas PDI these bikes before delivery, My last Guzzi had stripped threads on sump and bevel box. Tea break over back to the spannering Dave
  13. ratchethack the bike is just a year old and the fluid in the reservoir had badly discoloured, I am begining to suspect the master cylinder. After trying to bleed again this morning I noticed the master cyl was slow to fill from the reservoir when the lever was released after the bleed nipple was tightened. all thr fluids in the brake lines are just slightly discoloured which I would expect for a year old fluid. they have been changed no problem. going tstrip down the master cylinder this afternoon think there is a fault with the return valve or the seals as you say have packed up.
  14. started to bleed the clutch to change the black fluid in there, kept it topped up as I went along. now there seems to be no resistance. No sign of a leak. Have I forgotten something suspect that I have managed to get air in thought about tying lever back to see if air makes its way back to the master cylinder overnight, can anyone see a problem with that.......or back bleed it by pumping brake fluid into the system through the bleed nipple thoughts anyone??
  15. they did a seperate special test but some of it was offroad and quite afew riders refused due to the risk of damage. last few years have got easier, co-ordinators have been concerned over people having accidents through the night so there is a short day run. Martin the mileages aren't far between the checkpoints 25--35 miles as the crow flies, restrictions of 200 miles then a 1 hour break must be taken. hopefully the instructions will be better this year, last year one of the check points was at a sailing club near a small village, I don't think the village was too impressed with bikes going through all night long
  16. any riders interested in taking part http://www.national-rally.co.uk/2006/index.htm quite easy 540 miles through the night, Done it for the last 7 years, a good excuse to ride the bike
  17. I will go for some of that e-mail when we want to set something up

  21. Guy that was the 2002 jinxed guzzi that made me walk away for a Honda, strange I m back with a lemans, glutton for punishment ? Dave
  22. That was a close one, I had the same problem last year on my 2002 guzzi, doing routine grease up and had what looked like grease on the shock eye, cleaned it up and found it was cracked, at the time changed under warranty no questions asked, the dealer offered to collect the bike and fit, but I had already stripped it down took a week for the replacement to arrive. The amount of corrosion on it I would not have thought sufficient to crack the eye. I think its where it is machined round that is causing a stress fracture, my new shock had a ridge in exactly the same place as the old one had cracked. note on the swinging arm that its anti sieze grease not corrosion
  23. Just round the corner in Leeds 160 miles round the corner
