I got a nice set with eagles. 19 years ago. I have a feeling they are stickers of some kind, atop a normal cap. I'll have a closer look.

    Totally agree.

Not anywhere on eBay that I can see. If I had a Honda, BMW, no problem. But I can't locate any Guzzi valve stem caps... I'd buy a set if I could find one...

The database that I’ve found only goes back 20 years to 2001. From 2001 to 2007 there were 150 V11 Sports registered, and 81 V11 Le Mans, Tenni’s RC’s,  NC’s, Cafe Sports etc registered, so from 2001 ~ 07 a total of 231 registrations. From another database I found there were 90 red frame Sports from 1999 & 2000 registered when new, so that makes a total of 321 new registrations from 1999 - 2007.

So 254 bikes surviving out of a a total of 321 sales seems a reasonable survival rate. It demonstrates that they never sold in serious numbers when new, hence seeing any V11 these days is a rarity…..

Contrast that with the 524 registrations of V85’s in the UK Since 2019….

Or the 17641 BMW R1200 GS’s that have been registered in the UK

There’s hours of entertainment looking at these statistics, but I only have the UK data and not worldwide. I would have thought Guzzi sold far more V11’s in the US ?

Guzzi's US distribution has always been spotty... I'd guess, running V11s in the USA at under 2k machines. I'm probably being optimistic. It's probably way less than that.

Wonder how many V11s were built per year?

I can search UK registrations with the following versions, but some of these categories show no data

    V11 Sport

    V11 Sport Scura

    V11 Sport Tenni

    V11 Sport Le Mans

V11 Sport Le Mans Rosso Corsa

    V11 Cafe Sport

V11 Le Mans (this only has 4 registered, so I suspect it’s probably another special model such as the Nero Corsa)

How many of all these are left in the UK, you may ask? A grand total of 254 V11s of all versions left

Only 254 V11s left in the UK? That is heartbreaking...

Yeah a clean Rosso Mandello is about 9k USD. See below. Plus added the link for the MK5. Its what they are asking. Someone has to pay that amount!

Damn...I know NZ is a gorgeous country, but the bikes are stupid money. In the States, bikes are, comparitively cheap as chips.

    I paid $6500 for my V11 Sport w/under 13k miles...and that was with $650 shipped to me.

Again, whatever you like, better buy it soon...I get the feeling it's all going to be priced in "classic" territory very soon! Especially older Guzzis!

    I can understand a Daytona, MGS01, limited V11...but wow.

Any of the Le mans 850 through to 1000. Daytona. Any old V7 or 850T's. Ambassadors. The V11 is just starting to rise. With this Covid pandemic going on and no one travelling there is a lot of spare cash around for toys. I think this is contributing to price as we only have relatively small pool of vehicles in NZ. Someone was asking 25k (17.5K USD) for a mk5 lemans recently. It was low mileage.  A nice MKII 850 would be around 16k USD.

Unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch that far

I know NZ is a small market, but those prices are insanity. Bikes in general are getting pricier here in the USA. Glad I snagged my clean V11 when I had the chance. They will never be cheaper than they are now...

Took the V11 out for a 50km ride around the lakes here in Rotorua NZ. With the TI map and the decent tune up I cannot fault it. Purrs like a cat and when you want growls like a tiger with that torque and the sound of the TI Cans. I honestly cannot fault it. It is running superb thanks to the information on this forum.

I had my bike lift close to the garage doors which was a bit of a pain getting the bikes around the lift to exit the garage. Also have to think about an addition to the two bikes. So in goes the lift with bikes not on the lift closer to the open doors of freedom!

Been looking around for a third bike with the criteria being it needs to be old (40 years old is about 1/10 of the annual registration fees here.) From $520 down to $50. Love an old guzzi but prices are rising super fast. I will know when the right one comes along.

So what did i do to my V11 today? Gave it a new position in the garage :D

I know NZ is a totally different market, Nico, but which Guzzis do you see rising in cost for you locally?

Just had a spare front fender resprayed.
Legnano green and white base. Some say silver base. Only cost me 60$. I say it's looks very simular. I might do it again with silver base.

    @VtwinStorm

I only have a single key to my Le Mans.

I leave it in the ignition switch, when parked in my garage. There is no depletion since there is no transponder.

MGcycle sells key blanks, so it is easy to cut one or two spares and store them.

Then there are the Air Tags, which can also save the day, especially if you loose your key while away from home base.

One key? Left in the ignition? While you are away from home?

You certainly love to live life dangerously, don't you, Mr. Powers?

I have two fresh cut keys, and one original for my V11 Sport.

I keep three keys for each vehicle...each in a different location...just in case!

Soooo grateful I didn't have to get a new ignition cylinder, and all those other hassles! Thank my lucky stars!

Good feeling to find them. Something you might look for in any paperwork you may have received with the bike, is the key code tag. I have on a few occasions found that the previous owner was diligent enough and kept it with the extra 'pristine' key or taped it to a document to keep safe.

No key code tag was provided, unfortunately.

I'm over the moon happy to have my keys!!! :)

  12. UPDATE: VTwinStorm is indeed a dumbass and left his precious V11 Sport keys (all three of them) in his car (tiny sliding tray in the dash that I put them in).

Docc, please file this under "D'oh!!!"

I have now separated the rings, erm, keys, one to ride the V11, one to dream the V11, one to rule all the V11 Sports...The one true key is three!

One in the safe, one in my key wallet,  and the last one in my OTHER safe!!!

I'll never make this potentially devastating mistake ever again.

KINDOY2, thank you for being there for me, if the devastating loss of all three (I'm such an idiot!) of my keys were lost. I love this forum, I love all of you fine V11 riders, and most of all, I love my V11's keys!!!

Thank all of you for being so supporting as I was scrambling to get things sorted. Was a long day at work, but I am happy I didn't have to shell out another $1K-1500, after I just spent $2K USD for a full top-to-bottom servicing with new tires!

Whew!!! I feel like drinking now...

I say this all the time, but I can't wait to ride my V11 in the Spring!

    Ciao a Tutti.

I just recently became the new owner of a beautiful 2004 V11 Café Sport and I'm very excited to be here amongst fellow enthusiasts. I've already started to gather as much knowledge as I can from you all and looking forward to more.

I started my love affair with motorbikes back in the seventies growing up in the south of France and always had a ride of some sort, mostly japanese bikes then a stint with a Triumph Trophy 1200 wich I toured 2 up all over southern europe. After a 20 years hiatus, the sight of a Griso rekindled my lust for motorbikes and in 2017 I purchased a Griso and became a new(old) Guzzista.

    The journey continues...

I've tried a few different tyres on my V11 and carefully logged the wear rate and experience.  Starting with Metzler Sportec M5 that felt a bit less grippy in the damp and wet and would feel "squemish" when traversing painted while line in the wet.  They only lasted 4k miles.  I then tried Metzler Sportec M7RR; the latest version at the time.  They felt a bit better in the wet and the life was about the same; around 3.5 to 4,5k miles with slightly more life for the front than the rear, although I always change both at the same time to keep them in step and avoid having to spend even more time going to the tyre shop.

I then tried Pirelli Rosso III's.  They were even better than the Metzler in the wet and lasted a bit longer too; 5k at the rear and, potentially 6k on the front.  I then tried Pirelli Rosso Corsa II's and they were a bit better still in the wet and possibly wear very slightly better as I got 5.5k out of the last pair (though this might be that I'm getting smoother or slower) and I've fitted these the last three times.

    Great writeup, Peter. Thank you!
